Fiorentina unveiled their new home, away and 3rd football shirts for the 2007/2008 season on their official club website. ACF Fiorentina is an Italian football club based in Florence (Firenze), Tuscany.
The club's traditional colors were originally red and white but were changed to purple and white in 1928; since then, the club has been generally known as "i Viola" (the purple ones).
Fiorentina was founded 26th August 1926 through the merger of two teams, Libertas Florence and the Sport Club Florence, and its first manager was Carl Capskay. The first club shirt was red and white stripes ( the colours of the two clubs that had just merged). The first steps were taken on the pitch of via Bellini, wich was the home of Fiorentina until september 1931.
When the current stadium built by Pitero Nervi was opened when Fiorentina played Admira. Fiorentina's first match in its history was played against Signa and was lost 2-1. Instead the first official match was palyed, 3rd October 1926, championship of national division, when Fiorentina won 3-1 against Pisa.The marquis Luigi Ridolfi who was in charge of Fiorentina during its early years, succeeded in taking the team in Serie A during the season 1930/31. After two year in the lower leagues, Fiorentina, gaint promotion on the 21st of june 1931 in the last match of the season, beating Liguria 1-0 with a goal at 43' scored by Staffetta. On the 20th september 1931 Fiorentina played its first absolute contest in Serie A (1-1 against Milan with Fiorentina's first goal scored by Prendato).
Fiorentina ended its first championship in the firs series at the forth place, dragged from the goals (25) of its Uruguayan’s striker Pedro Petrone. The first title won, was the Italian Cup in 1939/40. ‘Viola’ (that is the way in wich the team was called by its supporters, due to the color of the shirt) in final epilogue (15 june 1940) won 1-0 against Genoa with the score of Celoria. With the beginning of the ‘50 Fiorentina beacomes one of the most important team in Italy. Once third, one forth and two times the fifth between the 1949/50 and 1954/55: these placings make from prelude season 1955/56 in which Fiorentina gains its first ‘scudetto’ .

In the 1963/64 Kurt Hamrin establishes a new record for the Italian championship: in the contest Atalanta-Fiorentina 1-7 he realized five goals that constitutes the supremacy of nets marked from a single soccer player in an external encounter. In 1965/66 viola adjudicate the third Italy Cup beating in the final of Rome, 19 May, Catanzaro with a suffered 2-1 after the extra times. In 1966 ‘viola’ won Mitropa Cup against the Cech team of Jednota Trencin: 1-0, with score of Brugnera. The decade is closed with the victory of its second ‘scudetto’ of italian championship in season 1968/69, under the technical guide of Mr. Pesaola and the presidency of Mr. Baglini. The arithmetical certainty arrives 11 May 1969 with the victoryr 2-0 on the field of the Juventus, thanks to the nets of Chiarugi and Maraschi. Capocannoniere of the year (the best italian scorer) was Maraschi, 14 goals.
In the Italian Cup gained against Milan in Rome the 28 june 1975 viola won for 3-2.
In the 80’, Fiorentina lived a beautiful season, with Giancarlo Antognoni like historical flag, culminated with second place in the 1982 and third party place in 1984.. It seemed that the Pontello (that beacame in the end of ’70 president of Fiorentina) could give to Florence its third ‘scudetto’, instead slowly the economic problems mined the solidity of the society, that sold all its better players: Passarella, Massaro, Galli and lot of others. Between these also Roberto Baggio, that went to Juventus. The went of Baggio at Juve triggered the protest of the ‘viola’ fan’s against the Pontello, than a month after they will yield the society to Mario Cecchi Gori. There is great euphoria, but the team did a bad championship and ended in the B series, even if in Florence arrived Argentine’s star Gabriel Batistuta.
In the B seires the technical guide of the team was given to Claudio Ranieri who centers endured the return in A series, but the joy of the promotion comes mitigated from the death (5 November 1993) of Mario Cecchi Gori. 18 May 1996 Fiorentina win 2-0 to Bergamo against the Atalanta, and gains its fifth Italy Cup: the teams. Three months later ‘viola’ won against Milan in Saint Siro (2-1) the ‘Supercoppa di Lega’ with a double of Batistuta.
In the summer 1997 Ranieri does not come confirmed and on the bench ‘viola’ arrives Alberto Malesani, that guided Fiorentina to the fifth place. Cecchi Gori go huntings of new successes and engages Trapattoni - we are to summer 1998 - than to its first season on the park bench of the Fiorentina conquest the third place in championship, after beeing in head of classification, bringing back however viola in Champions League after years.
In 2001 Fiorentina won the Italian Cup against Parma:. The same day the Covisoc (the organizazion that control financial situation of Italian teams) makes its income in Fiorentina and certifys the crack of the society of Cecchi Gori. Fiorentina fails one year later in July 2002.
