Blackburn Rovers 08/09 Home Umbro football shirt ?

This seems to be the new Blackburn Rovers Home shirt for the 08/09 season made by Umbro. It's not officially launched as the new 08/09 shirt, but Paul Ince was showing it when he was unveiled as the new Blackburn rovers manager.

The Rovers kit have always been fundamentally the same; two team colours split across the shirt. One sleeve and one side of the shirt would be each colour. The shorts started white and the socks dark blue. Although the sock pattern and colours would change, everything else, for the most part, hasn't been touched since 1905. Since changing to white shorts in recent years, the home kits have had dark blue shorts since 1904, when they were changed for a year, then rejected and changed back.

A while ago the club has announced that Crown Paints is to be the new club sponsor as of next season 2008–09, the Lancashire based company has signed a three year deal with the club.

If that\'s it, it\'s bad. The sponsor looks cheap but I suppose they have to make it stand out from the rest of the top.

If this is not it, I expect it to look a mix between Ireland and the Everton top.

looks a hell of a lot better than last years...but who wants to walk around with a Crown Paints on their front?... Italy Rugby had Jaguar and Juve had Sony, now they were pretty cool sponsors!

HAHAHA no mate, I mean with the design and all.

As for steff. They just throw anything together. Though it does not happen often I have seen it.

This is an example of typical british culture/thinking..

Last year we had quite possibly the worst sponsor that\'s ever made an appearance on a football shirt.. this season we get one which actually looks normal, and people still complain!! Get over it.

Think we\'ve got more pressing issues on the pitch anyway without worrying about how pretty our shirts are.

Why have they just put the sponsor in a black box?

It would of looked so much better if they just used a dark outline on the letters and lighter inner.

It just looks like a cheap print on.

But who gives a shit though its only Blackburn.

Bad layout for the sponsor.
Bet 24 was not so bad..

I don\'t like the sponsor. Ruins the shirt. And another thing I don\'t like is the black numbers and names on the back. Should still be red imo.

I really hate the sponsor logo. I thought the red trim on the 07 shirt was really smart, and was even a fan of the little scribble sections under the arms. I like the black letters on the back but they have to do something clever on the shoulders like last year, cuz that was WAY cool and really pulled all of the elements of the shirt together. I agree that if they just put a thin black outline around the letters of crown paints it could look pretty nice, but as it is that black box is just plain ugly.

I like the shirt.Think the sponsor logo could be better but not as bad as last years.Rumour has it that the new away shirt will be yellow (something like chelseas yellow shirt last year).I hope not.I like the black and red halves like last year. Was hopin theyd make that a regular thing

As a Rovers fan I am upset by this shirt . I\'d love to know the thought process in the design aspect. They could do so much better, I don\'t for one second think that it is going to be a prototype for the real thing.

The sponsors logo looks horrendous, just like it did last year with Bet 24. Although at least that has some colour in it. I\'m really debating parting with any cash for this.

I really hope this changes just a little or they get some reaction from the fans again and get us to vote on the design like they did the last time. We pay a lot of money so I think the fans should get a big say.

Yes, I think this is the new kit, cause the template is similar with the other 08/09 umbro kits.

At the end of the day tho, it doesn\'t matter what the design on the shirt is. It still has the Blackburn Crest on there which in turn makes it the best shirt in the world!!!!

people have short memories. Crown Paints sponsored liverpool in the early 80\'s when they were winning everything

They arent the logo nd sponsor.

You can tell because the logo is exactly the same as ythe one you ca get for pro evo. Too pixelated for that resolution picture and the sponsor looks like a computer generated logo just copied pasted then slightly rotated on.

Nice to see an ordinary sponsor though.

Bet 24 was well garish.

I think this is quite a nice shirt but would it not be easier to just put the letters of crown paints instead of the big box...thats what they did wen we had lonsdale on the front...i also wish that it had a bit of red on it but still i like it!

the sponsor is definitely not edited into the picture as someone claimed. I\'m a graphics and photography major and its pretty easy to tell it is legit. I would love to be able to get my hands on a template and design a good shirt for them, because from what is visible here, it is just bland. You obviously did something right last year with the shirts, so listen to us, the fans, and go give last years shirt designer another commission .

This is not the 08/09 kit, it is just a placeholder for the kit until they release the proper kit in August.
