chivas_08_09_home_reebok_shirt.jpg

These are the new Chivas 08/09 home and away shirts made by Reebok. The team was founded on May 8th, 1906 by a young Belgian shopkeeper named Edgar Everaert , as Club de Futbol Union.

Their kit was modeled on that of the founder's favourite team, the Belgian Club Brugge K.V., which consisted of vertical stripes and the colour scheme was als modeled after Brugge's (which has since changed their team colours). The first team was formed with Mexican and French players (thus being named Union because of the comraderie between these players)

The home kit is simply the worst in 102 years of story of CD Guadalajara, it\'s even worst than the one they used two years ago.

I don\'t get it. Whenever Nike or Adidas puts out a plain looking kit, everyone complains. Whenever a company tries to do something different, everyone complains.

It\'s really annoying

I realize that I\'m probably in the minority here, but there are only so many ways to do red and white stripes. Kudos to RbK and Nike for trying a new interpretation of the classic Chivas and Arsenal kit. I realize that this shirt is a little busy, but at least it doesn\'t make you dizzy like last year\'s wavy lines. 4/5

yep,but Nike\'s reinterpretations of striped kits bringed some oscene shirts..like PSV 97/98 one..or Munchen 1860 one in the same season..

so the point of the away shirt was, according to vergara, to emulate that of the best european team , which is barcelona. if they\'re really going that route, then why not take this year\'s design and make it their own? that shirt is much more simplistic, and thus more appealing/beautiful?...
(for me, being of open mind and a chiva in my blood, find the home shirt to be an acquired taste. give it time, and it will start to look more attractive. seriously, just watch how many people will actually BUY and WEAR these shirts in the 2 seasons to come...)

0 # 2008-07-02 20:34
yes, people will buy the kit, but the kit will stay as ugly as it is... and the team doesn\'t look good, so no reasson for going to the stadium... ah, and there are two new sponsors coming to the kit, so we will se again a \"chilaquil\", as mr. Vergara refered once to the Chivas uniform.

Well i think that those designs should have wait like 2 or 3 more seasons, chivas has been releasing really weird \"new era\" kits for 3 seasons now, i think it was the time to release some classic look kit, altough as a chivas fan i must get that home shirt and be supportive, btw rbk should stick to NFL, and chivas should change to adidas or sumtn.

I think these shirts are amazing - they\'re so much better than the modern, plain, boring kits of the Premier League today.

They remind me slightly of the Umbro kits of the mid ninties, with the flashy designs and bright colours.

I like the fact there are wonderfull interpretion of stripes mixed in with the blue shoulder blocks and
underarm detail.Plus the Reebok and swoosh are on either shoulder with the stripes going all the way up to the neck.
one concern is the away kit will be clashing with God know how many other kits so the colours should have been different, and I hate the lime green trend that is all around us.Thanks to Chelsea/adidas for that one.
it aint big, it aint clever it is just horrid.

Really awful shirts, the inclusion of dark back panels poses a big colour clash problem, not that that really applies in Mexico, where kit clashing is common.

This shirt is easily the most horrible in Chivas history

Not only the design is crap, but it also violates some traditional aspects a Chivas shirt must have:

1- Straight vertical stripes:
These \"rising sun\" stripes are a terrible idea by reebok, they are even uglier than the curvy ones of last year. What I dislike the most is that they are that way to highlight the sponsor (a stripe comes out of every corner of the bimbo logo)

2- Red stripe in the middle of the shirt:
This shirt is asymmetrical. Also, the stripes bent in very different angles, the first red stripe bents to the left, but the others bent to the right.

3- The shirt must not contain a lot of blue:
Since Reebok started designed Chivas shirts, they have been using blue in some details... but this year, the shirt has a massive amount of blue, specially in the back. Why the patch in the back is blue instead of red?

The Away kit is even more disastrous, but it is only going to be used in very few occasions, so i don\'t care about it.

I have seen it in the TV and in the stores, it doesn\'t look so bad. I loved the special shirt celebrating the \"campeonísimo\". But I think it is a kind of modern-futuristic chivas design. Good, not the boring as always. Surely will be a hit in the stores, as it occurs every year with the chivas jersey.

I saw the away kit the other day in a store. The tone of the green stripes is extremely bright, almost neon

combine that with the details in black... the contrast is excessive
