The winner of the voting poll that has run during the month on the SWFC official website to decide the design for next seasons away kit has been announced.
swfc.co.uk has reported that kit 1, a white shirt with blue shorts, polled of 50% of the thousands of votes logged and will be next seasons change strip beating a light blue/turquoise shirt and a cream/ecru number. This result will shock and disappoint some Owls fans as the chosen shirt has much more than a passing resemblance of the home shirt of bitter local rivals Leeds United.
Indeed message board reports on the Owls-mad website and rumours on the local grapevine during the poll had suggested that fans of rival clubs had gotten wind of this fact and were maliciously voting for this choice.
Although it seemed that voters were restricted to one vote each via their IP address, there was no way of stopping fans of other teams voting and perhaps a better way of conducting the poll would have been to give people a chance to vote in person when visiting the ticket office, perhaps informing season ticket holders that they could do this on home match-days and thus restricting the vote to people who had actually bought tickets to see the Owls and therefore had a genuine interest.
