Major League Soccer adidas football kit 08/09 mls

These are the new Adidas Major League Soccer (MLS) football kits fot the 08/09 season . FC Dallas, CD Chivas USA, Red Bull New York, New England Revolution, Kansas City Wizards, Chicago Fire, Columbus Crew, D.C. United, Toronto FC, Los Angeles Galaxy, Real Salt Lake, San Jose Earthquakes, Houston Dynamo.

Major League Soccer has reached an agreement with Adidas on a 10-year contract worth an estimated $150 million in 2004. Adidas, the German-based sports apparel firm, is the official athletic sponsor and licensed product supplier to MLS.

The company has sponsored three MLS clubs -- D.C. United, Columbus and Kansas City -- since 1996 and added Dallas, Colorado, San Jose and the Los Angeles and Salt Lake City expansion teams in 2005. It got New England, New York/New Jersey, San Jose, Chicago and the other Los Angeles team (the Galaxy) in 2006.

Adidas also provide the league with its official ball and are the only athletic brand with advertising rights for all MLS games. The deal also increases the likelihood of MLS teams playing exhibitions against prestigious Adidas-backed clubs, such as Bayern Munich, Ajax, Real Madrid, Liverpool and AC Milan.

What do you mean? Chicago has a HUGE improvement. I like Columbus more, too, but I can see how that one is more down to opinion.

Did Chicago really have to model their kit on Middlesbrough? They insult themselves.
San Jose\'s kit looks like an away-day third-kit bodge job. Truly shocking...

I actually like San Jose\'s a lot. Wizards also. Overall, I think they look great. (Except for Red Bulls, that logo to too big...)

Why did the Galaxy get new kits?
And where are Houston\'s championship stars...
I agree with cronaldo7 about NY\'s sponsor logo, maybe next year.

Otherwise pretty good overall

I actually prefer the ones that have the city/team name on the shirt above the ones that have commercial sponsors. Somehow that gives the MLS teams some character. Who doesn\'t remember the cracking 70\'s/80\'s MLS shirts. With these sponsorships the shirts become very average.

IMO, A golden opportunity missed to make unique looking football kits that makes the MLS stand out..like in the 70\'s & 80\'s..

Chicago has worn an all-red kit with a white stripe across the front since the club was formed in 1998.

I hate how Adidas makes all the teams kits, and the MLS is the test dummy with all of adidas\' dumb designs. I hate it

You\'re all clearly morons.

There was no MLS in the 70s/80s.

There is no new LA kit.

Houston has a championship star and the scudetto again.

KC and SJ\'s crests are either too big or too high on the shirt, I can\'t figure out which one.

You\'re not so clever yourself Grant. The LA kit is different and there are no scudetto\'s in the USA, thats only in Italy :s do you homework mate

Who cares about the new kits anyways

Besides, the MLS is rubbish, the only 2 decent players are Angel and Beckham because they have played proper football

I bet Millwall can thump all the clubs in the MLS

Millwall till i die !!!!

D.C.\'s got the right idea. If you\'re not gonna have a sponsor don\'t put anything there at all.

New England should ask for their money back

Obviously, you need to do your homework if you don\'t know that MLS has a scudetto that they introduced two years ago. Galaxy wore it two years ago and Houston last year. Go to the wikipedia page MLS Scudetto if you don\'t believe me.

You tell \'em, Grant. Such appalling ignorance. Really, it isn\'t that hard for people to do a little research on the web:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MLS_Cup#MLS_Scudetto

As to the guy talking about MLS in the 70\'s/80\'s, ha! He must mean the NASL. Some NASL clubs had excellent uniforms (Tampa Bay Rowdies, Cosmos circa 1980, etc) and some had truly awful uniforms (Colorado Caribou, anyone? fringe?) so it is a very mixed bag.

Before anyone jumps my case about pointing fingers at the MLS, I\'m an American.

...but I\'m still trying to figure out what the hell is so \"Real\" (Royal) about Salt Lake City. Makes about as much sense as forming a new team called \"United\". That word is supposed to represent a consolidation of former clubs.

If you want to give a nod to footballing tradition, \"FC\" works just fine (or how about \"Athletic,\" \"Sporting,\" or \"City\"?) without making a cartoonish mockery of things. What\'s next, \"San Diego Town\"??

Well, I guess we can at least be glad the fricking \"Wiz\" is dead.

Kinda lame that all the teams have to wear adidas. Hopefully when the contract runs out they can let more companies in.
I wonder how that worked with Chivas USA when they joines, seeing how the main team uses Reebok.
