New England 2008 away Umbro kit launched

E-mail

The new 2008 England Away Kit was official launched this afternoon and will make its debut at Wembley on Wednesday for Fabio Capello's first game in charge.

The new shirt, which sees the Three Lions crest in the centre of the chest, will be worn during the 2010 World Cup qualifying campaign and will mark the beginning of a new era for the team. England’s rich heritage is married with revolutionary technology by incorporating a QR (Quick Read) code into the shirt’s label. This effectively serves to bring the shirt to life, enabling fans to access a unique QR website.

The new shirt, which sees the Three Lions crest in the centre of the chest, will be worn during the 2010 World Cup qualifying campaign and will mark the beginning of a new era for the team

Upon photographing the code with their mobile phones, fans will be taken to the website where they can obtain exclusive content about UMBRO and England.

This is the first time that QR code has ever been incorporated into a football shirt. As regards the strip’s other technical features, comfort and ease of movement is central in the shirt's design. The shirt has been anatomically cut to emphasise the athleticism of the player, whilst a twill mesh body fabric ensures that it is both lightweight and breathable. Other benefits include a hybrid neckline and a specially shaped underarm gusset, which maximise comfort and mobility.

I quite like it...was fearing a generic umbro kit like the home one with diamonds everywhere but it looks alright. The blue bits make it look a bit different. Why is Gareth Barry modeling it? As well as he played against Israel and Russia surely he\'s not one of our top players?

I\'ve never forgiven Ummm... bro for the all maroon debacle and the grey striped away shirt kit from Euro 96. This is appalling.

Also, another bug bear for me: why does the England badge, the three lions, one of the most famous emblems in the history of football have to have the word \"England\" written above it? It\'s like writing \"Mona Lisa\" all over the Mona Lisa. God I hate marketing people.

It would look alrite if it wasnt for those stupid ugly navy and white flashes. And I think the badge always looks crap when centrally positioned.

a lot nicer than the current home, but the badge in the middle ruins it.

bring back red numbers on the home shirts.

Not too bad, in my opinion. It\'s different, that\'s for sure. It\'s ten times better than the current umbro line, that\'s for sure.

it really had a link to the 86 Admiral away kit.
probablly Umbro is being leaded by this retro trend as Nike is doing on the current kits...
anyway, the star separated of the crest was quite clever..

The trouble with that single star, on its own, away from the badge is... it screams -

\"England have one the World Cup ONCE! Yes, just the ONCE! Not multiple times, like Germany, Argentina, Brazil or Italy, but ONCE! And they invented the damn game! ONCE! Pathetic, isn\'t it?!\"

go to the umbro website to see more stuff about it, looks better in movement with better pics and stuff, i actually like it myself, unique unlike puma who use the same template for every shirt, only color and badge separate them all.

1. umbro produce genetic kits, people moan. umbro produce unique kit, people moan. maybe you lot should either start a football shirt company or stop moaning so much.
2.the \'england\' above the badge was put there so the logo could be copyrighted/patented.
3.in nature symmentry and balance subconsciously equates with beauty.
4.normally do not like badge in centre, but work on this kit better that on the side(see #3).
5.france do not complain about their one star!
6.to pompeypete where is gareth barry, he is not in the pictures?

look at half the african countries or australia/brasil.

it\'s hard to tell them apart without the badges. at least this kit will be recognisable.

recognisable by its ugliness

the best one ever was the one with the one before the new home kit

the one with the flag on the shoulder

minty....this article has been edited to include the pics from the press conference...the original ones released (see FA website) have Cole, Terry, Owen, Richards and Barry in the kit on the training ground. And whilst i\'m at it...David Bentley modelling the new kit? in Joe Cole\'s number 11 shirt? Half of Englands fans havnt forgiven him for the Under 21s farce!

This is the worst kit for a long long time. Umbro have produced some of the best shirts I can remember..Chelsea 96/97, Man Utd 95, England 01 to name a few. But this is just horrendous. Stop following the template by a prat in a suit, and be inspired. They\'re supposed to be artists.

ever worst... do not compare with WC 82 one... did all those designers play too much PES or Winning Eleven, as those designs are so similiar to those in the edit mode

Disgusting! Goalie is nice though. Support Iraq. They are much betterings.

So basically, at the current exchange rate this shirt costs approximatley 45 pounds ninety nine pence.

In order to wire you the merchandise directly I require a few details.

Nothing personal madame. Simply just your bank account details and sort code.

cousin benson money transfer.

Not as nice as the lovely Italia top...Forza Italia..Oh God , no , I didn\'t mean that.
I\'m sure that Senor Rio will look fantastico in this Umbro top. It shall mask his ugliness and his dodgy passing , by the sheer ghastlyness of the Umbro top.
I agree that the 82 Away top was a classic , very retro and very trendy..still to this day.
Italy also had a classic strip , that led them on their way to a fantastic World Cup Win.
Oh God...I\'ve messed up again...I hope the camera will not be on me , whenever England meet my beloved Italia...what to sing
Ciao
Fabio

sounds strange but England have had shocking kits for at least a decade now. maybe they need adidas to sponsor them. It could spark freshness into the team. Its been so bland

the england football team typifies umbro (or maybe vice versa) perfectly at the moment. umbro is such a dull brand and it\'s their kits are almost a metaphor for the way our football has been for too long now.

i swear if we got sponsored by nike we\'d instantly become awesome!
capello\'s captain should be rooney and our kit supplier should be nike.
if these two ideas were put into practice 2010 is pretty much in the bag.

(i\'m actually being serious!)

the wngland kits are going much down hill, and the football seems to be following. If this form is due to the kit, are germans in contol of kit design???? and umbro? sack umbro bring back the days of Admiral before i was even born. And if they hav gone out of businessthen its time for Nike to step in

Hi,

I actually like this shirt alot and it has good quality, just go to a store and see yourself! My friends and I have always been wondering why people want Umbro to go. Look at the cheap Puma shirts from this Euro, not sure if you want that!
Anyway,I have a question. I have a few shirts with match day transfer on it (eg. France v England 26.03.2008). Does anyone know where I could find one for the Sweden game at the World Cup (needs to be in gold to fit the red jersey and its gold numbering) and any game at the euro 04 where England wore the white home shirt?I really hope to hear from you T H A N K S alot!
