New Independiente 08/09 Umbro Football shirts

Independiente launched their new home and away football shirts for the 08/09 season.

Independiente launched their new home and away football shirts for the 08/09 season. Umbro was responsible for these new designs, as it has done since August 2004.

The shirt maintains its previous style, although it adds further details, such as the Umbro red and white parts at the sides of the chest. In addition, on the sleeves there is a silver crown and the inscription "Rey de Copas" which means "King of Cups." Independent will premiere their kit this Sunday at the Lanus stadium against Lanus.

Nice shirt, yes, but indicative that Umbro\'s recent blitz on natty details on their shirts has run out of steam; those pointy details coming out of the collar remind me of similar black points coming out of Man United\'s 2002/4 strip, and plenty of other Nike strips of that era besides.

Any Independiente fans shed light on the change in shorts and socks that happened a couple of years back, I believe. They used to play in red shirts, dark blue shorts and socks. Was that a traditional kit or is this current one? I preferred the red and dark blue myself. More classy.
