Newcastle United unveiled the new “silver” 3rd football shirt made by Adidas for the 2008-09 season.

Fans will get their first glimpse of the club's brand new silver third kit when the Magpies take on Spanish cup winners Valencia at St.James' Park on Saturday (kick-off 3pm).

The kit, similar in colour to the outfit worn by the likes of Kevin Keegan, Peter Beardsley and Paul Gascoigne during the 1980s, goes on sale on August 21.

Available soon in the FSC shop

Thanks to Sean

Good shirt, but New Castle still suck. I hope they get relegated this year.

I\'m guessing this kit would be worn for the away fixtures at West Brom and Wigan due to their blue/white stripes, and in some lighting conditions the shade of purple on the away kit looks a bit like blue.

first of all there is absolutely no need for a third shirt.I think its just a scam to get more money off all the fans anyway i think that the shirt is absolutely horrible, just look at it its all sparkly!!! anyways Newcastle are a bit of a gay club except Shay Given and Damien Duff. Horrible kit I`d give it around 1.5/5

i think its a good kit. in terms of the team, i believe they need to improve at least a 6th or 7th place finish this coming season.

I think this shirt just looks really bland, I would have liked a shirt more based on Newcastle\'s heritage like adidas has done with Liverpool and others.

You know how thick the Geordies are and how they love to buy any old tat with the Newcastle badge on it.

The silver away kit they had in the 80\'s was mint though, this one should have had black pinstripes.

It really pisses me off when a Club deliberately choose an away kit that neccessates a third kit.

Had they chosen a Yellow away kit this wouldn;t be required.

okay Valencia in White and the blue away covers it.

2nd, why a silver kit? Yellow would suffice as a 3rd away kit.

and why Northern Rock with huge red full stop?

I\'m terribly disgusted at the quality of sponsorship printings at the front of the football jerseys for the past few seasons. The aren\'t as lasting or duarable like the embosed printings or sublimated (this one is the best of the bests, they are absolutely permanent) printings. Are the major football jersey makers (and some say the football clubs too) ripping off the loyal football fans hard-earned money???? Come on, what is this all about???? Where has the policy of \'good value for money\' and customer\'s satisfaction gone to nowadays????? I hope the major football jersey makers and football clubs are seriously looking at this article !!!!!!!!

Is it a full silver kit or what?

i think it would be good with white shorts and white socks.

Better boost up your defence or Boro will finish above ya\'ll

Disgusting. That\'s all I can say.

Adidas have made some really poor kits this year, and this just confirms that even more.
