arsenal-09-10-nike-third-kit.jpg

Arsenal revealed its third choice kit made by Nike for the 2009/2010 season, available to pre-order through the FSC shop soon. On sale from Thursday 23rd July, the kit echoes design elements of the north London club’s away kit including a white shirt with redcurrant pinstripes and a polo collar.

Further shirt details include a panel of horizontal stripes at the back of the shirt, to mirror the craftsmanship of a fine English shirt. Inside the collar is a high quality woven label that reads Arsenal, while engineered in to the side seam is a small red label featuring two Arsenal canons either side of the club motto, ‘Victoria Concordia Crescit,’ which translates as ‘Victory Through Harmony.’

As with all Gunners replica kits, the shirt is made from Nike’s innovative Dri-Fit fabric, which keeps players drier, cooler and lighter by drawing sweat from the body to the fabric’s surface, while it’s three-dimensional construction gives more air space around the skin to reduce clinging.

The away shorts are anthracite grey with a redcurrant stripe along the side, a graphic showing an Arsenal canon is on the back of the waistband, while the draw cords feature Arsenal’s name on the tips. The socks are white with vertical redcurrant pinstripes and an anthracite stripe on the top band with Arsenal printed on the calf.

Adult shirts are priced at £40 (£45 long sleeved), with children’s shirts at £33 (£35 long sleeved).

Im liking the pinstripes, liking the collar and Im liking the clean look to the design. very nice alternative shirt with a classy look. very hard to come by a team with a decent third shirt because they often look like they never really bother with them but this is smart.

hold on a minute.

Away - Dark Blue (almost Navy)
Third - White?

I think this is beautiful.

The subtle and tasteful combination of white, dark red and grey fits the pinstriped polo look perfectly.

I would be interested to see \"a panel of horizontal stripes at the back of the shirt\" - I\'d imagine that this would be the yoke.

That is exactly where it is. It works well on the away strip so I would imagine it will on the 3rd as well.

Looks like it\'s Boro\'s David Wheater, judging by the sponsor, number (31) and jawline.

Nike have just changed the colour of the kit like they did with Tevez\'s Man Utd shirt in the Villa kit launch.

Why must we have \"Fly Emirates\" printed on everything?
Surely \"Emirates\" is more appropriate, and would look better.
I mean, the Liverpool shirt doesn\'t say \"Drink Carlsberg\" does it?
Reply | Reply with quote | Quote

0 # Mac 2009-07-01 17:31
It says Fly Emirates because its to advertise the fact its a Airline??? just the same way in which Virgin would follow up its logo with media or airlines.
If Carlsberg were to print \"drink\" would go against regulations therefore they cannot even if they wanted to.

use your noodle mate!!!!
and i like this shirt, f*cking lovely stuff

Purists be damned... having a white kit doesn\'t mean Arsenal is trying to be like Tottenham. I can see why some hardline Arsenal fans would hate this kit, but as far as I\'m concerned, the badge on the chest matters more than the colour of the shirt. If the kit looks great - regardless of your rival\'s colours - it\'s a success, and this kit does look great.

The pinstripes are class, but I still think the collar looks a bit flimsy. The grey shorts are a nice addition too.

Most people know Emirates is an airline. You don\'t see the new Man City shirts with \"Fly Etihad\" printed on them, they\'ve got \"Etihad Airways\" - makes sense and looks much better. You don\'t see Bolton shirts with \"Wear Reebok\" etc, I could go on.....

I don\'t like that they used the same shirt with different colors; maybe they should have kept the pinstripes out for this one. anyway, this shirt rocks, it\'s classy and simple. I appreciate that nike is using collars, even though I in this case they have this retro feeling making the shirt kinda un-football like. btw, is it me or nike is using that umbro england design?

Whats with the mafia look? Truly boring, and no creativity are the thoughts that come to mind. Nothing about it says Arsenal to me. Are they going to put out a new home jersey with this in red w/ white pinstripes? Nike gave us bland, bland, bland this year.

Emirates \"Pat\" is the corporation which deals in various projects. Fly Emiates Airlines is what they deal in primarily therefore it would make better sense to have that plastered on the shirts so we the walking sponsors can help them market this. i agree i rather have just Emirates but one can understand that they would want to get their monies worth and use the deal as effectively as possible.

Nasty Nasty Nasty

If I was an Arse fan I would storm the Emirates and demand whoever thought of the colourway be shot for idiocy.

Looks waaaay too much like a Spuds kit.

That would be like decking Watford out in a white shirt with navy blue and orange trim. That would go down like a bacon butty at a Jewish wedding let me tell you.

If it isn\'t amber and navy blue, it isn\'t an Arsenal away kit. Same as the current home kit, it just isn\'t Arsenal without the white sleeves?

The navy away kit this year is great. But that doesn\'t hide the fact that Nike are getting verry lazy with their templates over the past few years. The only truly unique Nike kits I have seen this year has been Man Utd (sort of - Mexico home and away 2006) and Celtic\'s new \"European Away\". The rest are all the same but all different colours and contrasts.

Of course they\'re photoshopped images, Arsenal can hardly have an authentic picture of players celebrating goals, to the level they do in real games, in the new shirt that they haven\'t played in yet.

Either way i think all arsenals kits this year are brilliant and, having already bought the home and away kits in full, i will definately be buying this when its released next week

(I posted on the wrong, away jerseys blog) I thought it was really nice and smart until I flew Emirates from London yesterday - the female flight attendants were wearing blouses with the traditional beige-ish skirt - The shirts were white collared blouses with the exact maroon red pinstripes running down the shirts. (Some don\'t wear the beige overcoat, just the shirt)

Can\'t find a pic but here\'s evidence: http://www.asiatraveltips.com/news08/176-EmiratesAirline.shtml

\"The most noticeable elements of the new uniform, on the women\'s side, include beige piping detail on the new red hat, subtle red pin stripes throughout, more fitted, chic blouses and eye catching, red kick-pleats in the skirts.\"

Sadly Arsenal has now become a full scale walking advertisement for Emirates extending even to being ambassadors for Emirates flight crews. :woohoo:
