This is the limited edition Barcelona football shirt designed especially for the 2009 edition of the Juan Gamper Tournament. To celebrate the club's foundation year, only 1899 units were produced worldwide. FC Barcelona will wear the special kit for the Trofeo Joan Gamper game against Manchester City this month that will be dedicated to the MÉS project that the club, Nike and UNHCR founded last December.
Instead of donning the traditional Blaugrana colours for the match on August 19 in Camp Nou, Pep Guardiola's team will play in the new shirt that will carry the MÉS logo and red shorts.
The packaging and shirt it contains have been manufactured entirely from recycled materials.

This is more than a jersey, it's a way to support thousands of refugee children in camps to play sport and go to school. MéS is an initiative set up by FC Barcelona, Nike and UNHCR to raise funds for education and sport programs for refugee children around the world, giving them a chance to learn and play. All proceeds go towards the FC Barcelona foundation and UNHCR's.

instant classic.
This kit, like that match, will be consigned to the scrap heap of history.
according to their slogan
\"MES QUE UN CLUB\"
(more than a club)
I think it\'s més, as in Barca\'s motto \'més que un club\' - more than a club

And Russel, this isn\'t a third shirt, it\'s a one off. Proceeds from sales go to MES and the shirts the players wear for the game will also be auctioned off.
I think it looks nice. The shorts that go with it wil be red.
tacky color combo....... check
campy \"mes\" in fron to the chest........ check
general ice cream vendor look..... check
fcb is a great team and gamper their founder, nike should have done something better.
instead, barca got served!!!!!!!!
can\'t wait to sea dani alves wearing this crap.
I never said it was a third shirt, I can read the blurb. I was just saying, IF this shirt was some random design for a lesser team, I don\'t think many people would be rushing to buy it.
still funky :cheer:

Doesn\'t matter, though; history shows that people will buy any abysmal, brightly coloured peice of crap as long as it has a Nike logo and a Barcelona badge.
Haha, that\'s so true - it looks like the logo for a Japanese cartoon - all that\'s missing is an exclamation mark and a picture of a spikey-haired Pokemon character.
One word MArketing....Rip Off
(Also, as far as this charity things is concerned... If Zlatan just gave two week\'s wages to UNHCR they\'d raise about the same as selling these shirts)
I do give money to charity actually, and far from wanting to get into a debate on the ethical and moral issues surrounding charity with a razor-sharp wit such as you, the point I was making was that Barcelona are an incredibly rich club. It\'s great that they are raising awareness, really great. But the money that will be raised by selling these shirts pales into comparison with the money they\'re paying their players. It also pales in comparison with the marketing benefits for borh Barca and Nike. I was just putting things into a bit of perspective.
I reckon C Ron wish he signed for barca now so he would have an excuse to dress like the rentboy that he is.
Surely all the overpaid fannies that play football these days could give all of their wages to these causes? I know lots of them earn more in a month than the average fan could dream of in a lifetime.
£150 X1899 = £284,850
A drop in the ocean for some players so this is definetly an injust thing for anyone to buy. Charity starts at home.
Does anyone know if this is the first recycled shirt?
Hope Barca hammer City!
i like it cause its simple but very nice, would be good as a 3rd kit but the yellow 1 is still there
Well worth the money to people in Africa who need it regardless of how u priveleged people think how horrible it is.
at £99 it was a bargain
Definately a collectors piece.
Will be worth something One day!
