Cambridge United unveiled an innovative new home 09/10 kit featuring a black sash on an amber background.

The sash runs from the left of the chest to the bottom right of the shirt, and the line of the sash continues down the right hand side of the predominantly amber shorts.

There are contrasting white and black flashes running from each armpit to each side of a black V-neck collar, and the back of the shirt is plain amber.

The new design is based on one sent to the club earlier this year when an opinion poll about designs was held on the club website. During discussions on the club message board, supporter Andy Stock's draft sash design proved popular and was forwarded to the club, where it also met with approval from the staff and directors.

Chairman George Rolls commented, "We are pleased with this innovative new design, which shows the club and Vandanel are in touch with the fan base, and we're sure it will be popular."

25-year-old Andy has been a supporter for ten years, helping around the ground when possible and one of the volunteers who replaces divots in the pitch at half-time. He admitted he was both surprised and delighted to learn that his design is the basis for the new kit.

"It will be an honour to see something based on my design," he said. "I think it will feel very strange; there can't be many football fans who designed something the team and fellow supporters will be wearing every week.

"It will be a very unusual shirt; I certainly can't think of a club in the league to have used something like this in recent history, although we used a sash design in the 1960-61 season."

The new shirt will cost £40 in adult sizes and £30 in junior sizes. It will be available to pre-order from Tuesday 9th June in the club shop.

I really like this kit... I do think that if they brought the crest/ black stripe more into the chest... it looks like the crest is in that guy\'s pit

Courtney Pitt! There\'s a blast from the past - he was going to be the next big thing, I remember a documentary about the agent Sky Andrews, and in one part he was taking Courtney Pitt out to buy his first fifty grand sports car, bet he\'s driving something a bit more modest now

Good stuff.
I think the photo is just a proto type so hopefully the badge placement will be better on the real thing.
Also [ vandanel ] remember the colour is amber not yellow

Courtney Pitt! I remember him well from his Portsmouth days. Mainly because he was the first Pompey player I had ever seen who was younger than me! I guess he\'s driving something more modest now, probably a bicycle if Cambridge is anything to go by.

the club crest looks like its falling off the shirt. if it was pushed in and up a bit, the diagonal stripe would look heaps better.

Looks quite good but it just goes to prove that in order to get a decent kit vandanel have to get the fans to design it for them ! Not sure about innovative though Bristol Rovers had the reverse of this as a 3rd shirt. Nice kit though

Poor Courtney Pitt,he\'s been at both Oxford and Cambridge since leaving Pompey...shame, he showed promise.Back to the kit though and it looks ok.
It looks good with a black sash but I think the white makes the design look cheap.
If the badge was central it would be better too.

Who is this Courtney Pitt? For a minute I thought Courtney Cox had eloped with Brad Pitt. Then again, maybe she would hyphenate: \"Cox-Pitt\" :silly:

I think they\'ve transfer listed Pitt. He was woeful in the play-off final! I like the kit but really hope it\'s gonna be amber rather than yellow.

Probably because he spends too much time in Hollywood schmoozing with George Clooney and company.
