Crystal Palace Nike 09/10 Kit Vote Update

E-mail

crystal-palace-nike-09-10-kit-vote.jpg

Since the voting stage was introduced at the end of January Crystal Palace have received a large amount of votes from supporters for both the home and away shirts for season 2009/10.

Contrary to media reports the number of complaints received in writing by supporters has been minimal and the home designs have been given a very positive response. Choice one of the designs for the home kit is currently winning by a large percentage whilst the response has been mixed towards the choices of the away shirt.

In light of the mixed response received with regards to the away shirt the club have successfully negiotated a further away shirt with their new kit sponsor Nike, which you can see below a long with the complete range of all away designs.

Voting closes at midnight on the 22nd February.

You are currently with errea, so take a look at what they have come up with for Grimsby who are near the bottom of League 2. While Nike are giving Palace, a club with realistic Premiership aspirations, shirts straight from their park\'s catalogue.
Palace fans must be absolutely delighted.

I like Option 1 for the home, the collar is a nice touch.

Option 3 would be good if they had the traditional Peru-like strip incorporated and an all white strip.

The away choices are quite poor really.

8/10 for home.

4/10 for any of the away tops

Never thought I\'d see Nike do a kit vote, but I\'m glad they did some prototypes. These look just like the renditions we saw recently, and I\'d confirm my votes of H1, A2. A3 isn\'t bad either.

Nike is worldwide thats why the deal with big clubs and big clubs only. What you have at Palace is a generic shirt knocked up in sweatshop which even pub teams wear. Any distributor in the UK can flog this crap. If you think a company of that size would deal with CP you are even more deluded than you sound. Any twat could buy this shirt through his local sports shop.Yes even you could although I doubt you even know where it is!

Now that I can see the whole shirts..

between Caen 07/08 shirt and Steaua Bucarest 07/08 one, I choose the first option.

About the away one.. I\'d like to vote a skyblue shirt, but it seems an Adidas fake..
so I vote the 2nd one.

Palace has been my team of 40 years + along with my home town club.

We have been jumping around between Adidas, Le Coq Sportif, Diadora, and Errea and have now gone with Nike. The current Errea white shirt with blue and red sash is the best for a long time (team of the 80s) but now it seems we are going back to the blue and red stripes. Options 1 (home) and 2 (away) look the best for me. The black away shirt brings back memories of an away win in the FA Cup against Liverpool a few years back.

Come on you Eagles !

Clarification on Nike argument - this kit isnt being manufactured by Nike, these are take down from generic Park Strips which will be badged up in CP colours. Nike wont be interested in CP persay as they are not interested in southend/fulham ect... the deal is through a uk licencee which enables the kit to carry the Nike tick.

Roginho, my man, funny guy, obviously really smart (!), you probably did International Marketing at Uni as you know SOOO much about Nike\'s corporate strategies.

Nike have obviously chosen to do business with CPFC for some reason. To make money. They think we\'re a marketable, possibly because:

we\'re an up and coming, youthful club and we have good history (more than most of the drivel currently in the Premiership).. We\'ve got some of the best prospects for the future in our squad and in our youth teams. I\'m hazarding a guess that they think we\'ll get them some decent wonga over the next seasons. Otherwise they\'d only sponsor Premiership teams.

So pack your Gola boots in your kitbag and do one back to your favourite Sports Outlet. I\'ll be getting my kit online, I\'m not going to presume you have the internet your probably sitting in some internet cafe jobless on benefits or something, from that bitter attitude I\'m feeling.. Later.

When you have finished watching the jeremy Kyle show have a look in your local sports shop you will see that any mug can buy that shirt. It is not made by Nike it is imported by a licensee . Even Rochdale have this design ( in different colours) You Palace fans must be so proud That when your team runs out they have the same kit as teams who get knocked out in the FA vase first round. Nike deal with 2 teams only in England and if you can\'t work out who that is then go back to bed . Nike will make money but it won\'t be out of Palace it will be from the licensee who buys from them and flogs it to Palace...and as a result makes people redundant in the club shop. That would also explain why one of the options ( black) was being worn by Manchester United 3 years ago......Maybe thats what they mean by welcome to the Nike family...here are your big brothers hand me downs.....Still being an interent wizard I am sure you know everything about the sports clothing industry without even leaving your bedroom....Back to school next week little boy !

No.

Please read the press release:

Leo Sandino-Taylor, Nike PR Manager, is delighted to welcome the club to the brand. \"We are pleased to welcome Crystal Palace into the Nike family and confirm that we will be the supplying their matchday and training kit from the start of 2009/10 season. Crystal Palace is a club with fine tradition and an exciting future and we look forward to providing them with Nike product for the next three seasons\"

I agree with Roginho because how come these palace kits arent up to date with other nike templates plus if these were with the nike global they wouldnt want to release there precious kit templates months in advance before there bigger clubs like man utd etc .And finally the kits look rubbish quality no imagination put into them what-so-ever!!!

The kit will be supplied to Palace via a company called Just Sport, who handle all the deals that Nike do not want to administrate themselves. That is why these are standard kits and not specially made for Palace.
They will also take over the club shop and have already informed the current staff that they will be out of a job at the end of the season.
This is what happened at Fulham and I am sure any Fulham fans will tell you what a complete and utter mess they made of the their club shop.

Unfortunately Palace are not considered on the same par as Man U or Arsenal who have their own personal design. Hate that we are just a template option in Nikes eyes. Also i see no reason why we cant keep the sache or even return to classic claret and blue which has never happened in my life time

Murchos, the big difference is that a company like errea still manufacture rather than just importing everything. Also, because companies like them cannot compete financially with the likes of Nike, they are prepared to produce something special for clubs playing at the current level of Palace (no offense) whereas Nike are prepared to fob Palace off with the Man Utd 3rd strip from 5 years ago, shown here as Away Option 2.
I find it very sad for a club of Palace\'s status and history that they have come to this.

Only the first is a (slightly) generic nike template, but even then the stripes are thinner, and there are more of them across the shirt, compared to the shirts offered by nike teamwear outlets, including the Fulham away shirt last season, which was a generic nike striped shirt.

Nike use similar features from older kits in newer designs all the time, especially collar designs. Perhaps that is all that has been \'copied\' onto the first choice palace home shirt, the collar.

The rest of the kits are all original designs, even if the second away option resembles the old Man United third shirt, the template is different as that Man United shirt did not have stripes all the way down to the bottom of the shirt, and the collar and sleeve template was different. The only similarity is the thin horizontal stripes, which are hardly generic.

The only generic option is the third away kit, which was only added at the last minute because Palace asked nike for another option, and so nike did not have time to design it \'from scratch\'. The press release clearly states that the deal is direct with nike, and there apprears to be no nike logo within a triangle on the sleeves, a common feature of the generic kits.

away 3 is the Nike strike jersey that came out in 2007 also

Rochdale wear both of these templates this year and last year too

Palace have had many, original, innovative kits over the years (Sash & colour combination) and so a season or two in a \'basic\' Nike kit isn;t the end of the world. The same happened when they chose a version of Bayern Munich\'s adidas kit in the 90\'s - and that led to promotion

As a life long Palace fan I am afraid i agree with some of the clearly non palace fans comments. I actually play on a sunday in version 1 Home but in black and green instead of red and blue, with exactly the same collar!!! It seems Palace have gone with Nike\'s generic kit options and in fact there is no ludicrous kit deal and i fear the quality of the kits will be no where near the same as those of Man Utd or Arsenal and Nike have no real time for working alongside CPFC.

Having said that I hope I am wrong and I hope that the wealth of training and casual gear will prove me wrong and Nike will maintain their strong reputation as first class kit makers.

unfortunately jim these shirts will probably be some of the biggest sellers the club have had. the same as when they had adidas a few years back and they were the same shirt as bayern munich had worn. but at the same time if it brings in money that goes straight to the club (as palace do, you can only buy direct from them) then it could provide a little financial boost which in todays climate can only be a good thing. id rather pay the club than give my cash to jjb sports or another chain

If I had to choose it would be #1 home and #2 away,

I am a bit cheesed off that they couldnt design something original rather than sticking a club badge on something sunday league pub teams are wearing all across the country.

As well as that, what will stop knock off nigels ordering from the nike team catalog at a hugely marked down rate and flogging them on?

Well, what i mean is, crystal palace fc really needs to get a good grip of the championship next year if they want to contend to be a premier league club!! We need to get some good players in and get far in a cup or in the league. We have such a good manager but we cant seem to get anywhere with him!! Only because every ref hates him and that means they hate us!! But if we get some new players in they will be proud to play for palace and to where the new kit with a great sponsor!!

because the deal was rushed (we were due to have the exact same kits done by errea but complained), we\'re genning generic shirts this year and then proper nike designed kits going forward.

from what i understand anyway...

home 1
Away 2 or 3 for me and I will be buying both Home and away this year
