Everton 09/10 Home Le Coq Sportif Kits

E-mail

everton-09-10-le-coq-sportif-kit-launched-2.jpg

The new Everton home kit for 09/10 made by Le Coq Sportif was officially revealed on Thursday.

At noon, Blues legend Howard Kendall revealed a huge banner which adorned the front of the new Everton Two @ Liverpool One store in Liverpool city centre. The banner showed Everton's player of the season, Phil Jagielka, wearing the kit.

The new strip, available from 27 June, is the first offering under Everton's new, record breaking deal with Kitbag - and the first provided by manufacturer Le Coq Sportif since the glory-laden 1980s.

Indeed, that was a significant factor in the design of this latest jersey. The white 'v' on the new shirt is reminiscent of the kit worn by the likes of Graeme Sharp, Kevin Ratcliffe, Peter Reid and Andy Gray almost 25 years ago, as they powered to league and European success in 1984/85.

Either it\'s because the people involved with Everton and Le Crap Sportif are terrible hacks or because they wanted to crop out his crutches.

Look how uncomfortable some of the players look in that awful shirt! And to think Everton fans were unhappy with Umbro...

I usually don\'t say negative things about new kits, because they usually have some kind of style, something good, even if i don\'t like them. But this one... this shirt has got nothing but a terrible design.

I feel terribly sorry for Everton fans.

The white V should have flowed with the round collar instead of starting again and it also should have come to a proper V instead of \\_/

This is not retro, it is just a very bad design. The thing that is making it look over-large and baggy is the way that the big horrible \'V\' has been sewn in with a seam running right across the chest.
I cannot see any redeaming features in this shirt.

This is just awful. LCS have made some great kits over the years, but the everton original was not one of them, and this is only a bit better. It just does not work, and the collar looks horrible. personally, I think LCS should just have done something similar to what they did for the Wolves and stoke kits, not a pastiche of an old shirt

true that. it\'ll be the first everton shirt i\'ve not bought in about 10 years. tired of all these retro remakes, especially when they\'re done poorly, like this one.

at least we\'ve not got the worst kit in the league. but eh, wish we\'d stuck with umbro.

Still guna buy it thou cos its a Leeds shirt. (Even if it still costs £40 for a make i\'d never heard of before they started making our kits).

@ samh

We know that it is a commemorative shirt, we do. However, there are some major differences between this shirt and the one that it commemorates.

The \'V\' is intended to be a tribute to the \'85 shirt but when you actually look at the orginal shirt you\'ll see that the \'V\' was much smaller and it fitted into the collar better. Most importantly, it did not have an absolutely ludicrous horizontal seam that made it look like a dress.

This shirt actually isn\'t as terrible as it looks. However, when buying it, fans need to realise tat it is designed to be slim fitting, it\'s supposed to be worn in an 80\'s style, i.e. not baggy, which is why it looks good on Baines but terrible on Osman.

Still though, the horizontal seam was just a poor decision, and it would have been far better to make a true replica of the actual 85 shirt rather than trying to modernise it. I do like the subtle stripes though. It\'ll grow on me as long as people where the right size.

Original shirt pics:

I am not sure why both LCS and Adidas (example, Chelsea) are opting for the stitching around the pecs on some kits. Though the last thing a player would want is stitching, no matter how minimal it is, rubbing all the time on their front. For Everton\'s kit, well, it looks plain weird with that huge plot of white on it. Didn\'t they learn the failure of Puma\'s \"****ie\" look on Italy\'s away kit in the World Cup? I am biased, though, as I don\'t get into v-neck collars. This is a round color that looks like a low-cut ladies v-neck dress...oh well!

Shirt - not bad, horizontal seam is horrible though.

Blue, Blue, White Combo - WHY??? Looks like Chelsea. Stop it!

Badge - like I say to Everton fans every year WHY WHY WHY do you have a huge EVERTON below the badge. Everton are a big club, everyone knows the badge - why do you have to type it on like a kids name tag???

Seriously do any Everton fans prefer the badge with the word underneath??

Oh dear. How Everton officals approved this rubbish I \'ll never know. Itis a ladies halter top in alll but name. The shirt on OSman looks ill fitted. The only way a shirt like this would work is if it was a slim fit.

I\'ve seen some pics with ladies in the sirt and it looks much nicer on the women as they are allowed to show off the side panels with their curves and its a tighter fit

I feel terribly bad for Everton fans for being forced to watch a pretty good squad wear this pile of feces for an entire season. This shirt should be shredded and burnt, right along with Everton\'s supplier contract with LCS.

Understand the retro attempt, but some things are best left in the past. Older is not always better.

Blue shorts are boss!!
I would prefer the blue shorts as the strip, but i understand that would be changing years of tradition.

I prefer the 84 kit, the V is too big on this kit, still alright though. I think little Leon makes it look bigger than it actually is ha.
