Italy 2009 confederation cup Puma shirt

A light blue shirt, dark brown with light blue socks and dark brown or white shorts: The new Italy 2009 confederation cup kit, manufactured by Puma is officially unveiled by the FIGC. The Italians will wear the new kit in South Africa at the Confederations Cup as a special edition devoted exclusively to this event.

The shirt is available at the FSC Shop.

This will be Italy's shirt until the friendly match vs Switzwerland on the 12th of August 2009, after that the classic Azzurro will return for the World Cup 2010 kit.

This original colour choice is to honour the early 30's Italian National team, trained by Vittorio Pozzo (World champion '34, '38, Olympic gold in '36).'

“It is a less intense blue - said the coach Marcello Lippi - but, whatever the colour is, the four stars are there and we want to honour this jersey. "

Andrea Rogg (Puma CEO) said: '' This choice was made to honour early 30's National team, that used to wear light blue, with black shorts. We choose a dark brown for aesthetic reasons”

I\'m not a fan of Italy, but that is a gorgeous jersey. This is some of the best I\'ve ever seen from Puma, if not the best.

The color reminds me of Lazio (one of my least favorite teams in the world), but it still looks very nice.

I am not supporting italy nor like italian football, but the shirt is special.

Puma honours the italian squad with special puma shirts-not with the 0815 template. This one is very, very nice.

I think Adidas should do the same with germany-especially when they are from germany as well.

Nice shirt!! 8-9 out of 10

ps...the style they advert the shirt is very, very artfull!

The drawing with leonardo da vinci, mona lisa and italian sights ist beautiful.

very very patriotic and nice. I personally(maybe i missed it) would have add the pisa tower, the colosseum(!!) and some references to the fantastic food they make.

Respect from a german!!!!

Class kit. Props to Puma for this, but they owe it to Italy (yes, as an Aussie, that\'s hard to say!) to make a decent kit after the horrible WC 2006 kits..

They\'ve made shiny material look class.. the whole kit.. is amazing! Nicely done!

That shirt is really awesome, because I like that collar, those details and that Italian flag stripe. Simply the best made by Puma. But I don\'t know about that brown socks...

I think the whole kit will look very classy.

But I also think that Italians will not understand this shirt, we have not a culture of the National team shirt like for example England has. Most of Italians didn\'t see any images of 30\'s national shirt, and moreover there is not any affetionate mental links with those years. A similar recall operation could be done with shirts from 70\'s, like Kappa did in 2000, and that shirt had a great success, or with \'82 shirt, expecially now that we are World Champion.I still hope that wc 2010 shirt will be similar to \'82 one, with a traditional polo collar with tricolor trims.( ..I hope someone from Puma uses to read read thiss blog..)
So maybe it will have success out of Italy, but here I can already imagine negative comments, like \'\'it looks like Lazio/Napoli shirt...\'\'

Maybe I\'ll buy the brown shorts.

Other than the glossy \"Italia\" lettering through the chest, looks pretty special. Heard this kit is just for the Confederations Cup, then will be put to rest and the darker \"Azzuri\" blue may return. White shorts are nice...brown socks? Okay, I guess the fashion designers at Puma and in Italy know more than me on setting a trend. The tri-color green, red and white piping on the side is special, too. Italy could be wearing potato sacks and I\'d still be cheering them on, so this is even better!

No matter their suppliers Italy always seem to get something a little more unique than other nations - but even so, this is quite extraordinary. It will take time to grow on me.

I love the classic Azzurri Blue jerseys so I was hesitant when I heard they were going to do a one off with a light blue BUT this jersey is pure class.

Loving it and the brown goes very well with it IMO.

The dark Azzurri blue is coming back soon so it\'s not that big of a deal as some purists will lead you to believe.

I\'m going to buy it because it might become a collectors item down the road.

FORZA AZZURRI!!!

:cheer: Ok so just to update you guys, Puma got back in touch and they offered a solution to the problem. When you go to put the socks on lay them out on the floor in front of you placing the sock marked \'L\" directly in front of your left foot and the sock marked \'R\' directly in front of your right foot. Then slip them onto your feet in that exact order. I\'ve tried this twice now and it worked both times!
