The new Manchester City 09/10 home shirt goes on sale this Saturday, but can be seen here as tevez shows it with pride...

The shirt combines new materials that deliver a new level of performance, with the fabric cleverly knitting cotton on the outside with polyester on the inside. The cotton helps deliver the City colour with a saturated style and confidence, while the inside delivers all the technical performance required by top Premier League players, using a lightweight polyester with an eyelet structure that helps move moisture rapidly away from the skin.

The new adult shirt will retail at £36 and is available through the FSC Shop.

Garry Cook, CEO of Manchester City, said:

“We consulted our supporters throughout the design process for the new kit and have been delighted with the enthusiastic response they have given to a few sneak previews. City's history and heritage has been coupled with cutting-edge technology to create something that every Blues fan would be proud to wear.

One of the best kits this season, if not THE best.

Simple, elegant and classic.

I would love to see a Watford version with the classic hornet badge.

soy de river and i love that tevez just didn\'t try to get dressed up at all - he\'s such a slob! ¡vamos river, carajo! nice shirt, too bad tevez\'s ugly mug ruins the picture...

Werewolf monobrow - check!

My sister\'s diamante studs in each ear - check!

Half a tea cosy on on head - check!

Gurn like a freshly landed Salmon - check!

Tevez is definitely the world\'s best half man, half troll footballer.

The kit\'s a cracker though - I appreciate that not everyone\'s a fan of the team or Umbro\'s wilfully retro design, but this is so much nicer than the West Ham/Rangers Chessboard or the pikey embossed junk that Sunderland and Southampton have got.

I\'m not convinced on the cotton on the outside, polyester on the inside rubbish, but it\'s simple, clean and Man City finally are playing in the right shade of blue.

That\'s absolute class - a proper retro kit, not just a nod to one. They should be proud of it

At least I want Thomas Cook.

Absolutely first rate. Easily the best kit in the premiership this year. To me, this shows that a strip doesn\'t have to include a ton of fussy details in order to look good. To me, simplicity is the best design philosophy when it comes to football shirts, it gives them a timeless and classic look.

The only problem I see is that the sponsor\'s logo is a bit incongruous when compared to the retro design. Maybe if it was a Philips or a Saab logo...

And only 36 pounds too! It\'s a steal compared to the other \"tailored\" shirt, the 50 quid england one.

Best shirt this season imo. Quality design, SIMPLE design and probably one of the only kits where the sposors logo actually looks nice.

I personally think it needs chess board affect on it though

Lovely effort from Umbro, very classy, shame United aren\'t still with Umbro to get similar \'heritage\' treatment.

Also nice to see Tevez has joined in with the retro look - his headgear is obviously inspired by Pootle\'s tea cozy from 1970\'s British children\'s TV show The Flumps.

Nice shirt, by the way City fans. Wish we were back with Umbro.

I\'m not a Man. City fan, but if I was, I\'d be proud to wear this shirt.

A fabulous shirt - they way shirts should be made. I\'m not one for sponsors, but the Etihad Airways has not cluttered up the shirt - white colour is a nice contrast with the classic Man. City sky blue.

Two thumbs up - way, way up for this shirt!!

Why couldn\'t Umbro do something like this for the 09/10 West Ham United Home shirt?

I don\'t understand at all.....I mean, I like the kit, but why does it get so much praise when other simple (and somewhat boring) kits are ridiculed....like the Dundee United kit: [urlhttp://www.footballshirtculture.com/09/10-kits/dundee-united-2009-2010-nike-home-kit.html]

I would like to think that a lot of ex-Umbro teams would queue to have this retro design.

Liverpool with that bright red and big white v-neck and gold Umbro and Liver-bird.

Man Utd - 1960s round neck. George Best-style with an all-blue away kit.

Rangers - John Greig-style blue round-neck with huge RFC crest with a small Carling logo below the Umbro (like City\'s away).

Celtic - 1967. I know Nike reproduced one for the 07/08 season but an Umbro one would be better.

Watford - Rich amber instead of the bright yellow with classic Hornet crest. Maybe including a black/red arm stripe trim.

Scotland - 1978 Argentina with diamond trim. Diadora are in liquidation so Scotland will be looking for a new supplier...

Any other suggestions...?

I tried to think of a few, but come to think of it, I struggle to think of a club that wouldn\'t benefit from Umbro\'s retro designs. In particular though, I think late 70\'s Crystal Palace with a red and blue sash would be spectacular, and also I think many West Ham fans would like a re-do of this year\'s kit- something in the proper claret and blue with a v-neck like in the bobby moore days

Having said all this though, some of the best retro kits were done by Addidas. Umbro made hideous designs until they were bought over by Nike, buy they make one good shirt and suddendly the whole world comes out to praise them. Mad.

How is it an England home copy, have you not noticed their is not a collar. If any shirt that is simple becomes a copy of something else, than Christ, all t-shirts are technically copies of other t-shirts, since theirs only so many ways you can sew a shirt...fool.

From the accompanying blurb:

\"The cotton helps deliver the City colour with a saturated style and confidence...\"

Oh purleese. Umbro leave that sort of ****e talk to twenty somethings trying to bull**** their way into a marketing job.

Otherwise, nice kit.
