Manchester United's new home kit made by nike for the 2009/10 campaign has been officially unveiled.
The red kit, which can be pre-ordered online now, celebrates 100 years of Old Trafford with a large chevron across the chest, reflecting the design of the shirts worn by United when the stadium first opened during the 1909/10 season.
The back of the shirt has an engineered mesh, which is a series of small chevrons, a performance feature to offer the players even greater ventilation during games. Inside the black round-neck collar is a high quality woven label in red, white and black, while engineered into the side seam is a small label that reads ‘The Theatre of Dreams Since 1910.’
The shirt is made from Nike Dri-Fit fabric, which keeps the players drier, cooler and lighter by drawing sweat from the body to the fabric’s surface, while it’s three-dimensional construction gives more air space around the skin to reduce clinging.
The white shorts have a red stripe along the side, a red devil graphic on the back of the waist band, while the draw cords feature 'MUFC' on the tips. The black socks have a red chevron on the calf.
The players will don the kit for the first time during their pre-season tour of Asia next month. The squad fly out to the Far East on 16 July - the day the kit goes on sale and on which pre-orders will be delivered.
Wayne Rooney says it's an honour to wear the shirt week in, week out and is looking forward to pulling on the latest design.
"It's always exciting to see the new kit," he told ManUtd.com. "It's important that we like it and get used to it before the season starts [on tour]. I'm really excited about playing in it."
Ji-sung Park echoed those sentiments, adding: "It always feels great to put the kit on and there is always a great meaning behind our kits. History is very important at this club and it’s something all the players are aware of.
"I really like the chevron feature – I like to think of it as ‘V’ for victory and hopefully we can win every game we play in the new kit."

Comments
to be honest it is not bad at all but it could be better than this, a lot better i am a Man U supporter and sure i will get this one!
Glory, glory Man United.
compare it to chelseas new home kit, dosent match up  :Pinch:
There you go. Especially for the ****er who rated my comment down.
united are the best team in england by far and we will prove it again next year in this new awesome kit.
Like you get in those Arial adverts.
Hey, whoever wrote that \'Roma Losers\", which team do you support?
Did they even get to Champions League Final for the second time in two years??
I\'m proud to be a supporter of a team which did that. And the second best team of the year in europe isn\'t something to be ashamed of. I still am pround to be a fan of the team, which lost to a better team. And why not?
So better bugger off.. you moron.
Roma losers is right I\'m afraid. You were made to look like gimps.
Being a Liverpool fan I\'m actually really ok after going out to Chelsea, just to witness the panomime of moaning cheats getting a good dollop of poetic justice, ha ha!
Then we get the pathetic men against boys show, and saw exactly what happens to Man Utd when they concede to a team with quality who attack them.
Liverpool started this with the 1-4 humiliation at Old Toilet, then Fulham did the same with the Benitez Blueprint. Villa almost did the same but United had to rely on a 17yr old kid to save the day.
Anyway, the gift by Bruno Alves and a wonder goal by CR got United to the next stage against a woeful Arsenal overall, lucky no Arshavin there for United.
So United get to the final and no surprises, 1 nil down and the world fell out of the mancs, no heart, no courage, no belief, beaten in style.
Let\'s see how far the mancs get without their wonderboy and the dynamo Tevez who realised what United is about and took off, probably to Citeh, he he scatteh!
Valencia is the CR replacement? Not quite the same really is it?
It\'s going to be a struggle replacing those two, especially if the new players coming in have to wear those sickly shirts and look like a team of town mayors, how dashing!!
Oh god I can\'t wait until August, #19 on it\'s way to Anfield.
You\'ve equalled us 4 times before mancs, and every time we take off again.
Your team is in bits, your main men have either left or are too old
Too many holes to plug even if you get good players they\'ve still got to gel.
Ronaldo won you the title the last two times.
Time to move over, the wheel has turned, Fergie will quit when we win and you\'ll slide further down the hill.
I see Chelsea and Arsenal as Liverpool\'s competition for the title this time, United to finish 4th, that\'s not being biased, just the way it looks because of the state you\'re in.
JUSTICE FOR THE 39
WHO WON THE PREMIERSHIP THIS YEAR OH YEAH UNITED NOT LIVERPOOL. CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FINAL UNITED VS BARCELONA NOT LIVERPOOL
WAT HAVE LIVERPOOOL WON THIS YEAR?
WAT HAVE UNITED WON THIS YEAR?
IF UNITED DNT WIN PREM IT WILL BE CHELSEA NOT LIVERPOOL THE SCUM OF THE EARTH
Also, do you really want to where a giant V on your jersey when you capped your season with a loss in the champions league? weird move.
http://www.futink.com
Yaeh, but they did win another couple of things. By you logic then, every other team in the league should wear a giant \"L\" on their shirts.
Premier League WINNERS
League Cup WINNERS
Club World Cup WINNERS
Champions League Finalists
FA Cup Semi-finalists
Not a bad f-u-c-king season was it, mate? What did your team win?
I like this kit! People are just afraid of change! Consider ourselves lucky; it could have been the Bolton or Spurs home kit!
Love the goalie kit, wish it was the away at least. Oh well.
It\'s not one of the best shirts, but still it is a good one.
Love the V, but as the same old comment goes, a white V would look nicer. There\'s too many blacks on the shirt.. but that\'s okay.
The Collar isn\'t very interesting though. In my opinion, it should also be V-shaped, whithout any colour (just red).
The shorts are OK. The red line isn\'t very common for united these days. But as a retro, it\'s not a very bad idea.
The socks are also OK.
I can\'t wait untill I see this shirt in play.
It will be only one season.. so i\'m gonna keep my fingers crossed for a better one next season.
\"Glory Glory Man United\"
And all you idiots that just jump on here and rip clubs and the shirts to pieces...get a life!!!
The potential was there...a deeper, white V would have looked quite nice. But this just doesn\'t cut it, to be honest. Poor job, Nike.
They got a unique design, but first your template \"argument\": yes, tree years ago nike realesed their retro tendency, that we\'re still into, and if you have a little bit of memory you should remember the details on the sleeves that every nike club kit got, even ManUtd (06-07), and this shirt dont.
For those who say there are no details there\'s the \"v\" or chevron shapes on the back and the label celebrating Old Trafford centenary (unfortunately impossible to see in these photos). For those who hate the collar, I agree it does not look good but remember the retro-history idea, it definetly looks like a century old one.
Yes it\'s not the best ManUtd shirt but it is nice.
And all those guys who compare it to Mexico 06. Just forget it lads, the simple thing it has a V on the chest doesn\'t mean it\'s the same design as the one used 3 years ago. Just read the first lines of the article, it\'s simply a commemorative shirt and it reflects a kit used by Manchester freakin\' 100 years ago. The V ain\'t even the same, it\'s slightly sharper then Mexico\'s and the model is actually similar at the neck with Barcelona\'s Away for next season.
and Man United\'s last experience of football this season was rolling over for Barcelona! :woohoo:
In fact, Man United have won the Premier League three years running now. And you\'re giving me the FA Cup? Come on now... As Drogba would say: \"It\'s a disgrace! It\'s a f***ing disgrace!\"
Not Aon?
The shirt is very good looking, and much better than previous one.
The template is too similar to Mexico WC 06.. but I like it, I like this Idea and I like the black collar instead of white.
IMO is a 4/5 shirt,
It\'s a shirt that will be remembered very well in the future.
And the GK one is outstanding.
And great shorts too.
yeah of course thats why left, because of a shirt. You bell end
I prefered the fake one doing the rounds with the white collar and white chevron
they shoud be black too, then it would be fine - but this way...
The black collar on the home kit seems like a token gesture. Red would have looked so much better.
goooo arsenal ..........
The away keeper shirt is nice.
The home shirt is disappointing. I would have liked a WHITE arrow..
This would fit as a training shirt....The shorts are fantastic and very retro and the shorts too but the shirt is a massive disappointment.
Mexico sucks. Awful country (lived there so I would know!), awful people (Rafael Marquez anyone?) and awful football (in Mexico, people don\'t know that other teams aside from CD Chivas and Club America exist).
I bet a Fat American who doesn\'t know anything about the world.
I\'m never a fan of only putting piping on a collar while leaving the sleeve seems blank (or vice versa). And how hard would it be to have put a nice little band of white around the black collar (similar to United\'s 2000-2002 Umbro kit) - that would have added so much more detail and quality. And where\'s the \"MUFC\" lettering on the back of the collar and socks? The best thing about this kit are the shorts. The red stripes haven\'t been used by United for years, so it\'s a nice touch.
Ever since United\'s classic Treble kit by Umbro (1998-2000), which is by far the best and most popular United kit ever, United\'s kits have gotten worse and worse, with the Busby Babes Nike kit of 2006-2007, the exception. I mean, look at all the brilliant detailing on the Treble kit - and that was a decade ago! Kit designs should be getting better, not worse. I look at creative Adidas designs like the new Chelsea and Bayern Munich kits and wonder what\'s wrong with Nike. I for one won\'t be buying this kit - unless United signs David Villa. Thankfully, United will only wear it one season.
GLORY GLORY MAN UTD!!!!!
The only thing I like about these kits is the white keeper kit.

Sorry United fans, I think season 09/10 is gonna be pretty poor and I fear for Sir Alex\'s future. But please quote me if I\'m wrong, next season is gonna be a weird one.
Anyway, Glory Glory. To the Hibees.
I don\'t like the kit, I think the black chevron is just too much, if it was white, then I would be on board. The GK kit is NICE, but a WHITE GK??? That\'s like dressing a two year old in all white and sending him to play in the mud, and expecting him to stay clean...
poor choice, shoulda just stayed with this...
:silly: :silly: :silly: :silly: :silly: :silly: :silly: :silly: :silly: :silly: :silly: :silly: :silly: :silly: :silly: :silly: :silly: :silly: :silly: :silly: :silly: :silly: :silly: :silly: :silly: :silly: :silly: :silly: :silly: :silly: :silly: :silly: :silly: :silly: :silly: :silly: :silly: :silly: :silly: :silly: :silly: :silly: :silly: :silly: :silly: :silly: :silly: :silly: :silly: :silly: :silly: :silly: :silly:
;P
Erm, that\'s a third shirt, mate. Are you suggesting they wear it as a home kit next season?
I do like the pants :silly:
THIS KIT IS RUBBISH COMPARED TO LAST YEARS
The design is quite nice and i think its better than the other new kits i\'ve seen. And i think i might become a Red Devils FAN.
Yeh ok Ronaldo is going to chose where he wants to play football on a football kit. ****ing idiot
Come on you Redmen
It\'s on.
YNWA
Miles better than anything adiddas put out.
at least it has some historical relevance.
Good luck to Manchester United in 09/10.
Having your doubts now the Ladyboy has moved to Real?
Blue half of Manchester to take a top 4 place next year, think this dreadful Manchester United shirt will clothe the team in 6th place. Anyway, most of you can just switch your undying allegiance to whoever wins
ronaldo has nothin on zidan
I think it\'s actually better than last years, because many of the previous ones all looked the same.
The change is good and it\'s for a good reason ;]
good job Nike !
Worse than this?
Is that a big black arrow pointing DOWN on the front... hmmmm could be someone at Nike has seen the future...
The red and black go together really well
The shorts sorta ruin it
But if i supported man u i\'d get it
Anyway, I love the black chevron and I like the black colar. Why are people so up in arms over the black colar. I think it looks great. Man, people are so picky around here. It\'s much better than are home kit the last couple of years. I hope they do a black away with a red or maybe even white chevron. This way I can retire the best kit of all time. United\'s black away kit for the 07/08 season.
By the way Mexico\'s 06 World Cup kit was awesome so that is probably why I like this one so much. Who cares if it is the same template? It\'s not like every other team is using the same one.
nike havn\'t really changed much have they?
heres a credit crunch tip for you. grab a black marker pen and draw in the chest V and the neck on your 08/09 shirt. hey presto youv got the all new 09/10 shirt.
oh well i suppose it\'ll sell well in japan... oh and in china, oh yeah in india aswell , oh yeah and saudi, and scotland and some parts of london , and ireland.
Believe me, this guy is the real deal and he\'s just signed for Manchester United. B)
