Manchester United's new away kit for the 2009/10 campaign has been officially unveiled..

Like the club's new red and white home strip, the black kit, which can be pre-ordered online now, features a special commemorative tag at the side of the shirt and large chevron across the chest, reflecting the design of the shirts worn by United when the team won its first FA Cup in 1909.

The black shorts have a blue stripe along the side, a red devil graphic on the back of the waist band, while the draw cords feature 'MUFC' on the tips. The black socks have a blue chevron on the calf.

The Reds will don the kit for the first time during Thursday's Audi Cup match in Germany against either AC Milan or Bayern Munich. And Patrice Evra says the players are all looking forward to running out in their new attire.

"It’s a privilege to play for this club and whenever you put the kit on you know you need to give your best and show respect for the shirt," he told the clubs webstite.

"History is very important at United and it’s a great idea to base the kits on that. I just hope we can be successful in them."

Team-mate Ji-sung Park agreed, adding: "I particularly like the away kit - the black and blue colours are quite army-like. Hopefully we can be like soldiers on the pitch and win every game."

The new away kit will be on sale at outlets including Old Trafford's Megastore, and online at store.manutd.com, from Thursday 13 August. In the meantime, you can pre-order it online.

Thanks to Andrew.

Not bad but the top, looks a bit like training gear. looks better on Evra than it does in the close up photo, the blue looks darker.

its a nice kit...Nike have gone for saving alot of money on the production of the collars though....Really dull round neck rib is a very cheap solution.....
It works on this though.. whereas on the home one it looks poo.

Nike kits are so boring... All that cash and they basically get a t-shirt from Gap and put a stripe on it.

Nike not a proper football kit designer in my opinion.

United and Inter are possibly the only nike wearing team with good kits this season. Nice to see something different from them for a change. When I first saw this I thought it was the goalkeeper strip but glad to hear its the away kit. Very nice!

Words fail me as to how to describe this most pitiful of attempts at a kit design. Its cheap nasty , completely devoid of any design features. Nike brings shame on all those who design football kits....and the reason they keep getting away with it is because there are so many morons out there who will pay upwards of 40 quid to wear this sh#t. Do yourselves a favour and vote with your wallets. Its not worth a pound !

They are far from awesome but mere cheap middle eastern cack with no style. Its about time they designed something which suits the quality of clubs they deal with. Arsenal kits horrible, Manc Utd kits nasty looking etc. A company of that size should be doing a great deal better than this lame effort.

If you must use this forum to make moronic statements like that at least learn to spell, you only make yourself look stupid!

This is typical of the \"small minded mentality\" supporters of the other clubs in Greater Manchester have towards Manchester\'s most famous and successful club.

Great kit by the way, no barcodes here!

A red chevron would indeed have looked better than blue, but United have been wearing blue jerseys since 1902, mate (that\'s three years before Chelsea were formed, by the way): http://unitedkits.blogspot.com/2009/06/1902-dawn-of-united.html

Nice kit. It may look bad in the promotional pictures but they always do. Love how they look on the pitch in the Luton pic.

But in my opinion, I think the home goalkeeper kit (the white one with the red chevron) should have been the away and this the third shirt. If they\'re paying homage to their FA cup shirt from the 20s, why don\'t they have the rest of the team wear a similar kit to what the 20s team wore?

Didn\'t like it when I first saw it, didn\'t like it when I saw it up close. The design is ok but I can\'t see any reason to have this shade of blue on the chevron. Nice to see all the Bitter Blues coming out of the woodwork.... there\'ll still be plenty of empty seats at Wastelands next season, it doesn\'t matter who they buy. City just isn\'t a big club.

However, they were an appauling advert for the Premier League and English football and quite honestly were a very embarrasing second throughout the game.

Oh FFS, they didn\'t go there to \"advertise the Premier League\" did they? :s

They got beat fair and square, no arguments. No disgrace in losing to that Barca team, they were amazing all season.

It was Barca\'s year - they won the Treble don\'t forget, beating Real Madrid 6-2 at the Bernabeu along the way. Bearing that in mind, United got off easy considering how awful they played in Rome.

:unsure:As much as I like Man Utd, I honestly think the designs by Nike have been significantly been falling behind Adidas for the past couple of years... I think the last nike shirt I liked was the one from 2004 or 2005....

It\'s even worse when you look at the training ranges...I really wanna know what\'s going on at the Nike design center..the ones by Adidas look so much nicer and classier... Anyone know if there is even a slight chance Man Utd might go with Adidas instead of Nike in the near future???

In all honesty, Nike is a much bigger brand than Adidas and for that reason, Man Utd will stay with them. Nike sells almost 4 times what Adidas does so that instantly makes the brand more recognizable, so Man U have no reason to switch. Its just business. Nike could put out a plain tshirt with the Man U crest on there and people will buy it.

United have had black away kits for years. They\'ve had blue away kits even longer. Don\'t act like United don\'t have a history of wearing black or blue away kits please, you make yourself sound ignorant.

As for your point about getting a new away kit every year, you\'re right and it\'s dispicable. But most teams do it, not just United.

-1 # 2009-08-04 00:15
How many away kits colours do they need though ?? Most teams do have a new kits every season but tend to stick with tradition team colours, manly three(leeds white yellow blue always) im not a man united fan (thank ****) but i thought man united team colours were red white and black like the team flag. But you never know they might be losing at half time and switch kits like at Southampton where they had a grey kit (yet another colour to long list of different colours of away shirt!)

The guy just said United usually have a white away kit and either a black or blue 3rd kit. Those are the traditional kit colours. What part of that don\'t you understand? Most teams experiment with away kit colours. United once had a grey away kit and they once had a gold 3rd kit. Apart from that it\'s always been white, blue or black. Hardly a \"long list\" of shirt colours. Other teams have all sorts of colours from one season to the next. What\'s the big deal? Are fans being ripped off because they have to buy a black kit instead of another white one this year? :s

Correction: I see now you were only talking about getting new colours every season, not new kits. The truth is United usually have either a white, black or blue away kit. If they had a white away kit every year, I suppose you\'d get some people complaining about that too.

even as a scouser got to say top kit
but why have so many top clubs now got black kits
and surely manufacturers could of spread them over several seasons

Why not have all league clubs sign a contract with kit makers and sponsors to agree to a three-year fixed deal - NO kit changes in that time. Similar to other sports sponsorship deals.
