I wasn\'t expecting this... BUT!!!!

There doesnt seem to be a vs Slovakia on the GK shirt...

None the less, I like it, has an antique look about it. I see it as being either a \"Love it or hate it\" sort of shirt

This is the perfect shirt for England, from what Aitor Throup [the designer] was saying about the shirt, which makes it what it is you wont notice these until you see it close. The shirt has class and none of the cheap extras which have been seen on the shirt in previous years. This looks the buisness and well worth £40+.

£50 tho for something they are only gonna wear for about 15 games is a rip off.

I was looking at the Ireland and sweden new designs in sports direct today, and they were really good, the sweden one in particular was retro and contempoary at the same time, and I was thinking that that was going to be like the new England one.

well, if you are Swedish, be glad Umbro has given you that style, because this is not that good. it looks like a polo shirt, not like a retro england kit, and it does not hark back to any particular year or decade, it just looks like a polo shirt. And why does it need the name of the opposition team on the chest in a scroll and the year underneath?

If you bother to watch the videos from umbro, you would find out:
1. that umbro let slip the design themselves.
2. that the shirt and badge is inspired by the 1950s shirts hence the plainness, which I believe is what most england fans were looking for (look at the reaction to the fake with the red sleeves).
3. that their were aiming for the design NOT to look like a football shirt.
4. the shirt is designed to fit better on you.

If you don\'t like it, don\'t buy it. I just find it strange that when nike produce retro-ish designs everyone seems to love them, but umbro put some work in to give us a shirt that actual might be as comfortable as \'normal\' clothes to wear in all conditions and people are indifferent or split.

0 # JACK 94 2009-03-23 21:02
you have a really good point there, may be umbro released the one with red sleeves to get the reaction to see if we wanted a plain shirt

I really like it,

some of the people on here just moan constantly, first you say it needs to be classic and plainer and when they give it to you, you say you want it flippin modern and adhering to the latest technology.

btw the badge is absolutely classy on that shirt.

I think I almost prefer the FIRST leaked kit. There\'s a good reason why tailors are generally not brought in to design football kits these days - because it\'s not a good idea.

On the plus side, this will take about 5 minutes for someone to get an accurate reproduction for PES 2009 kitserver users - should be up long before the Slovakia game!

I like it!!!

For the past few weeks i\'ve sat and waited for this kit and listened to people going on about how the latest shirt designs are all t055, cluttered, messy, hype up under performing technology, don\'t have collars etc etc !!!

Then something different comes along with some thought that blows all the other England kits out of the water and all of a sudden you start slaughtering that as well!!! Give your heads a shake!!!!

0 # 2009-03-23 21:59
At first i thought they were going to produce a retro style kit but after the released video footage on the Umbro website i soon realised it was pretty much going to be a classic look instead so this doesn\'t surprise me. This shirt is well and truly CLASS. As for the people saying \"WTF is this! its just a white t-shirt\" well just shut the **** up, if you actually watch the videos on how they produced the top you might notice the quality and effort put into the shirt and that it has more about it than the cheap, over designed kits we\'ve been having with nothing about our country behind it at all. When the players wear this they will be wearing something with class and something that should make them proud of playing for there country. Granted this shirt is going to be getting negative comments but that will probably be from chavs (who wont be able to wear this with a pair of tracksuit trousers and a upward facing cap due to it being smart) or people that know **** all about the heritage behind the England crest. All i can say is for me Umbro have delivered something special and something that will go down as a classic shirt. From these pictures it does just look like a white t-shirt but trust me the quality of the shirt is well worth the £39.99 price tag which Kitbag and most places are selling them for and not the £50 everyone is wining about. So basically don\'t go making negative comments from these pictures as well as when you clearly know nothing about how they have produced the shirt.
Anyway.... i can\'t wait to get my own and wear an actual England shirt worth wearing. 9.5/10

I think checking out the umbro site makes all the difference! The videos they\'ve got explain it all and you get to see some close ups of more pieces - looks GOOD!!! There\'s pretty cool stuff involved in the shirt and I reckon the crap photo just doesn\'t do it justice. Still, I want to see it close up - but I\'m optimistic.

Hey, I think this kit is nice, it as gone back to the original style when England use to be a tream to fear !

I think this will be the beginning of a new era especially with the job Fabio is doing at present and the players will hopefullt take pride in it. If you check the pictures out @ unmbro.com, you will be able to watch the video and it does appear that this is the Genuine article.

About time that Umbro went back to tradition, I know we have been crying out for a traditional all white kit, its here at last, so lets stop moaning and get behind it.

Good shirt. If they would only keep to one design for, say four years that would be perfect.

Congratulations to those who have pointed out it\'s a white polo shirt. Yes, it is. But if it was a white shirt with just polo player or a crocodile on it, people would happily pay sixty quid for it. You don\'t have to buy the shirt. It doesn\'t make you a better person or a more loyal supporter if you do.

Nice to see England playing in an unfussy, stylish outfit.
Now all we need is Don Fabio to instil some patience into the players (and supporters) and we may be on to bigger and better things.

What a joke. This looks like the polo shirts they wear for the press conferences before and after the game. Probably cheaper to make than the older shirts yet more expensive. Nike/Umbro know how to make a tidy profit in a financial meltdown, what a rip off.

How does it look like a \"Friday night out getting ****faced on sambucas chavwear look about it\"? wear are you from? because i think it looks like a shirt that is worn when getting \"****faced\" on a vintage red wine or maybe even a single malt whiskey whilst smoking a Havana cigar in a Chesterfield leather chair in front of a roaring log fire... so shut the **** up prick!

All you people moaning about the price don\'t worry. Umbro always make far too many than they can sell and it\'ll be at least half the price in six months. The latest home and away kits are currently £3.49 in some shops and don\'t think the red one runs out til next year

Haha, Umbro made Ireland a better AWAY top than this new Umbro polo shirt!

If it\'s anything like the regular Umbro polo shirt I have, the buttons will come off after one day of use and the length of it will be 3x\'s too big!

COME ON IRELAND!

Haha, 100% right. All this hype for a team that only won 1 World Cup. England are rubbish.

On one hand, the simplicity gives it a classic look that can\'t miss...

BUT

On the other hand, I cannot in any way see why a shirt like this is worth the price suggested (in US$ around 65-75). I mean, why not get a plain white polo shirt, buy an England badge and have it stitched and you\'ve saved 50-70%! Who cares about the Umbro logo anyway?

Quite smart. The lighter blue colour is better than I thought. The only thing I don\'t like about the shirt is the banner under the England crest to hold the name of their opponents. I know it was used on England shirts in the fifties but I think it\'s unnecessary and outdated; I would prefer them to just print the country\'s name.

My main concern is that they have introduced a classic look to the shirt (with a heavy emphasis on tailoring) at the expense of technical innovation.

Had Nike done the exact same thing you all\'ve saying it\'s crap, or that it is a boring generic Netherlands 06 -08 template, bla, bla, bla...

It\'s funny how some people are prejudice against a brand just because it\'s American and when another not hated brand does the exact same thing it turns out to be the best kit ever!!!

Even tought this kit it\'s not bad, it\'s not ground breaking either...

They look like fakes.

David James\' England badge looks poorly photoshopped. Not only is it missing the Slovakia detail, the perspective and brightness of the whole thing just doesn\'t match the rest of his kit.

Not only that, but England have never been known to take promo pics of their upcoming shirts with the details of their opponents on the shirts. I doubt they will publish promo pics of their new home shirt with Slovakia on it.

Also, John Terry looks like he\'s being kneed in the arse by David James. There\'s just no way this is genuine.

Not soo good, i guess their doing a remake of 66 or something. I dont see why everyone is saying its 50 pounds, cos its not, just go to kitbag. I reckon if they use this then there will be millions of fakes. And I don\'t think umbro would leak the shirt.

There seems to be a mistake....the headline says new England kit but there is a picture of John Terry wearing his PE kit. If you scan down the picture you can see his black plimsolls. £50 quid for a PE kit all mums up and down the country must be woried ...thats a lot of money to spend on kit for the bean bag and sack races.

Reaaally like it.
About time Umbro made something with a touch of simplicity and class.
I work in sports retail, so we\'ve all been a bit worried that the white/red monstrosity that was leaked a few weeks ago would turn out to be genuine, but this is a much better prospect.
And £50?... Do me a favour! Nobody is going to be selling it for £50. No football shirt in history has retailed for £50, and certainly not in the middle of a global recession. Kitbag are preordering for £39.99, and that\'s what JJB/Sports Direct etc. will sell it for.

Don\'t you think its quite weird how you had to think them things up whilst pretending to be me? some might say your trying to hide something with a unhealthy obsession with censoreds and assholes. Oh and what\'s with this \"you can see all there massive muscles and ripped torso\'s and id very much like to stick my censored up there asshole\'s\" a little to detailed don\'t you think haha. If you have something to say at least say under your own name instead of using mine because it\'s ****ing childish. And its clear you need to just come out you prick.

Has anyone seen the new Spain kit! I dont like it at all! The England one may look like a polo but its way classier. If the European Champions can wear that, England should be proud wearing their new kit. At least some effort was put into making it.

Less is more - design classic.

White shirt, white shorts and white socks.

Looks superb. Fussy detail doesnt justify a few quid more.

Superb job.

Brazil donnt clutter their classic.

On one of the vids you see a pic of Booby Moore leading out the troops in all white - cant wait.

can anyone verify that this is the actual kit or another sh*ty marketing ploy from Umbike as the last one that was posted? if it\'s THE ONE then shame on umbike for treating the english public this way to such a national disaster! I thought it was a printing error with the price tag of £50+ when the current one is under a £5 at sportsdirect. won\'t be too long before this one is under a £5.

Just imagine a really nice, clean, classy white shirt with a slim collar and quality embroidered badge that chavs won\'t want to wear because it might actually make them look a clean, smart and respectable looking and i don\'t think they would want that now would they. If that doesn\'t make it sound like the best shirt ever then i don\'t know what would.

It is the official shirt that was posted as well as it actually £39.99 not £50 like they said it might be priced at certain places but they did say that it was up to the places selling them whether they would sell them at that price or not. But it doesn\'t seem like they aren\'t selling them for £50 because i think the companies selling them also think its a little to high also.

It might look retro to buy in the shops, but what the players wear will have a name and number on the back, a number on the front, a number on the shorts, tournament logo/fairplay logo on the sleeves, So it won\'t look retro at all.

the shirt is great! it looks retro and stylish... you can wear it on the street with jeans and it will look great! not like typical football shirt...
so wear it with pride! and COME ON ENGLAND!

hope the numbers have a retro design (like the numbers on the man united remake kit last year)! and no names on the back please! just numbers from 1 to 11!

The numbers are a retro font in red. The shirt will also include the players name but they will be in white, so from a distance the shirt still holds the retro feel and only when close up can you see the players names.

Nice touch.

Good point. Man United\'s beautiful Munich tribute kit (as seen here (media.photobucket.com/image/munich%20tribute/not-brazil_norn_iron/andersonpic.jpg?o=3)) worked because it was EXACTLY what the Busby Babes wore, right down to being numbered 1-11. And for that, United needed special dispensation from the PL, which obviously England aren\'t gonna get from FIFA next summer as this kit\'s a commercial decision and not a memorial.
