Norwich City Football Club's new 2009-11 Xara away kit was unveiled in the grounds of Norwich Cathedral this afternoon, and 2,500 shirts are now on general sale.

First team players Gary Doherty, Adam Drury, Sammy Clingan, Darel Russell and Cody McDonald modelled the new kit, joined for the launch by manager Bryan Gunn.

The launch coincided with 2,500 short-sleeve shirts going on general sale. These will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis from the Canary Stores (Carrow Road and The Mall) and online.

The kit features some special design elements - including on the collar, which has 'On the Ball City' embroided on the back for the first time ever.  The front of the neck is elasticated for improved comfort.  A mesh effect is sported down both sides and subtle green piping and trim is on both the shirts and shorts.

It is anticipated that the next delivery of shirts (short-sleeve, long-sleeve and ladies), shorts, socks and infant kit will be on sale at the end of June. Circumstances beyond the Club's control may lead to this changing but the Club will always use their best endeavours to fulfil this timetable. Supporters can pre-order any of these items now.

Why can Xara produce a nice looking kit such as this, but Puma and Nike turn out such crap? Designing football shirts shouldn\'t be that difficult.

It is probably because Norwich are an important club for a brand at the level of Xara so they are prepared to make an effort, quite rightly too! However, the likes of Nike and Puma have the attitude of \"We are Nike/Puma you get what you are given\" and it works because the fans go out and buy the replicas anyway...ch,ching.

I thought Xara had gone out of business? Well, one way or another this is a nice kit, I love the bold edge on the crest that makes it stand out. If I was a Canaries fan I\'d be well chuffed with this. In fact I\'d walk in the club store and say: \"WHERE ARE THEY? LET\'S BE \'AVIN\' ONE! COME ON!!!\"

Classic styling, pure & simple kit. Also possesses that rarity, the sponsor\'s logo enhances rather than detracts from the shirt\'s beauty. Well done Xara.

Agreed. This is one logo that I can stand to see on a shirt. None of that AIG boxy crap. And this from a United fan too.

Very nice, very simple.

Xara are little-known outside the UK, and most people turn their noses up at it.

They are doing a damn site better than what Nike are chucking out at the moment. I was a big fan of Nike kits - not any more - the 2006 retro theme has to end.

Hats off to XARA a small brand who obvioulsy take the time to do things properly. More clubs should take note of this approach when choosing a kit supplier...NIKE UMBRO ADIDAS and PUMA could learn al ot from this approach .

A nice clean, crisp shirt which enhances also the sponsors logo.

Not sure on the collar (persoanlly dont like collars anyway) but I think a good effort for them them.

A very nice away kit.Norwich City\'s white with green and yellow trim always looks like a crisp and clean design combo.
The sponsor\'s logo does add to the shirt.Logos are always better that just words or words in boxes.
When Pompey had Ty as sponsors it looked great with a heart shape on the shirt, even if having a toy manufacturer as a sponsor is a bit naff.
