Perth Glory FC unveiled the club’s new playing strip which for the first time in club history will feature vertical stripes.

The striking design on the front of the playing shirt was selected to coincide with an exciting era at the club in which a new logo has been adopted and the squad revitalised for a full frontal assault on the Hyundai A-League in 2009/10.

Perth Glory’s prominent purple colour has been retained with a solid block on the back of the shirt and the sleeves while the front will feature a mix of purple and white stripes to create an impressive looking shirt.

“We have set out to revitalise the club from top to tail and have scored plenty goals with our new look both on and off the pitch,” Mr Sage said.

“The playing shirt is something different from what we’ve ever had before and that was a deliberate decision to reinforce the new attitude and desire of the club going forward.

“The comments we’ve already received from Reebok and those that have had a sneak peek at the shirt have been extremely positive,” Mr Sage said.

Football Federation Australia has adopted a home and clash strip policy which means Perth Glory will wear the striped ‘home’ shirt during matches at Members Equity Stadium and on road trips where appropriate.

The new look has received the thumbs up from the players with Glory defender Jamie Harnwell keen to give the new look style a run on the pitch.

“I think it’s a great new design, it looks smart and adds to the renewed feeling that we all have at the club,” Harwell said.

The full playing kit will feature the new striped shirt, purple shorts and white socks.

Good lord, that badge is just awful, and I dont rate the shirt its whacked on either. The name of the team as well is pretty crap too - what were they thinking? ten years down the line and they have won nothing, its going to look pretty stupid :silly:

the badge is a LOT better than their old one.

and the shirt is alright, the piping and collar make it look a lot more crummier than it is.

that is how the a-league is. they are all bright and fluro. they aren\'t as traditional. which sort of sucks in a way, but it doesn\'t look half bad compared to what they had. they need tostart working less in your face colora. the should use dark purple and change orange to gold.

Not bad - but why do Reebok make nice A-League kits but then loose the plot on Bolton\'s???

Colours are great but why have red piping when the logo has orange on surely they should have orange piping the red is just too random. This proves that whoever choses kits for Bolton is clearly a completely tasteless and possibly blind moron . Reebok can do good kits afterall. I like it

I think it IS orange piping - orange can look like red on photos sometimes.

If you think Perth\'s badge is bad check out Gold Coast United\'s. Looks like it was drawn by a six year old. I don\'t understand why the A-League don\'t go for traditional style logos. I understand the teams were created only four or five years ago but the logos are horrific. The strip isn\'t all too bad...a bit cluttered but at least something different. Isn\'t as bad as North Queensland\'s fluro-green number.

Glory\'s colours are Orange and Purple (not red) the colour is a deep purple - maybe just a badly taken photo !

Much better than the last few monstrosities we have had to put up with !

MW from wideopen - 2 Championships in 10 years is hardly nothing is it.

O MY GOD! That is the worst shirt in the history of the a league and I have a feeling that my local club the wellington phoenix who are in the same league, have the same kit sponsors and are wearing stripes this year are going to have something like that. That logo is terrible!

Spongebob -

Phoenix kit actually looks good. One of the few that does.
Black and yellow vertical stripes...which they should have had from their inception (would of if not for crappy Reebok templates). The club\'s themselves were given free design over the kits this year...hence the big changes by some of the clubs.

Pretty average at best if you ask me. Personally I would have liked to have seen a purple and orange hooped ensemble with orange shorts and purple socks; and for the away perhaps something akin to what Valencia had with black shirts and orange short. Maybe even something like a Boca Juniors style design with a purple shirt and orange stripe; and the colours reversed for the way kiit. That aside, this site: http://www.football-shirts.co.uk/fans/2009-a-league-kits-previewed_2817 features something which in my opinion is much better than the offering above.

I love it actually, but i have always had an appreciation for some of the stranger kits, lol. My fave kit that i own -
http://www.oldfootballshirts.com/en/teams/v/vasco-da-gama/old-vasco-da-gama-football-shirt-s9304.html

On another note, Glory have got a pretty decent squad this year (by A-league standards anyway!) With the signings of Mile Sterjovski, Andy Todd, Chris Coyne and Branko Jelic they should be real contenders for the title this year i reckon.

Its a pretty nice kit. Not great, but good. My only problem with it is the collar. I reckon they should have kept the collar simple and just made it all purple, instead of that unnecessary ugly white block around it.
