Polonia Warszawa unveiled their new 09/10 kits made by Hummel. Hummel will be Polonia's kit manufacturer for the next three seasons.

Marek Kunda, Hummel Poland representative, said that in terms of new kits Hummel wanted to emphasize Polonia's tradition and history, but also include Hummel's well-known features.

Polonia Warszawa was formed in the autumn of 1911 as a union of two school teams. Initially the players played in black-and-white striped shirts, but in the spring of 1912, they switched to their now traditional design of all black shirts.

The legendary patriotic explanation for this colour scheme was that it was a sign of mourning for the occupied and divided motherland. However the true story was that a man who was responsible for buying the strips (Janusz Muck) could only get them in black.

Only during the Stalinist regime did the team play in different outfits. This lasting devotion to tradition resulted in the club's popular name: The Black Shirts.

Thanks to Piotr

the white kit is pure class; the black is kinda boring but overall I think they\'re very nice

Hummel did a very nice job on these kits. Maybe the best I\'ve ever seen from them. Love them. Very unique template and standouts in a good way. Could we see other Hummel templates follow Polonia\'s suit. Maybe AaB Aalborg who also wears Hummel or has their kit already been released?

Casimir never wanted to be a footballer and it showed, his dream was to dance the lead in Swan Lake to a standing ovation.

Nice kits but its not a unique template, Its the same template as Dundee United and St Mirren had last season with a few frills added. Very nice though.

The team will rarely play in \"all black\" kits - the black shirt is of course a must, but it will probably be mixed with white shorts and socks.

@ Hoff

Sorry mate, but you have to be blind to claim that its \"the same template\" as Dundee and St. Mirren

Dundee: http://www.footballshirtculture.com/20070614384/07/08-kits/dundee-united-new-07/08-hummel-football-kits.html http://www.footballshirtculture.com/200806141524/08/09-kits/dundee-united-2008-2009-hummel-home-and-away-kits.html

St. Mirren: http://www.footballshirtculture.com/09/10-kits/st-mirren-2009-2010-hummel-football-kits.html

Yes they are black and white and yes they are from Hummel, but that\'s a new template altogether.

I think they are very classy and will gladly get both the black \"home\" shirt, the \"away\" white and the red \"training\" kit:

Quite restrained for Hummel, i.e. the sleeves aren\'t chevronned up to buggery!

Many of us were hoping for something resebling Cork City\'s away kit. Polonia\'s colours are black, white and red so it would make sense. Anyway, its the first kit from a non-Polish manufacturer in at least 10 years, so can\'t complain.

I wish spurs would bring back Hummel. The white one would look class for spurs in navy, white and sky for away. The black kit change to white and navy and its home. This little company makes kits miles better than Puma.

This is same template as AaB Aalborg 2nd/euro kit for 08/09.

AaB Aalborg change to Adidas for the 09/10 season (I think).
