Sunderland unveiled the club's home kit made by Umbro for the 2009-10 season.
The v-neck shirt, which of course features the traditional red and white stripes, will be on sale in club stores from 6pm on Wednesday May 20th.
The design features red panels on the arm and shoulder area and the Sunderland badge is housed within a shield, enabling a clean finish to the inside of the shirt.
Additional innovative club-related elements also feature on the shirt such as a subtle embossed crest detail on the chest, an inner back neck transfer detailing the lifespan of the shirt and the Black Cat logo on the back collar area. The shirt utlises a lightweight performance polyester fabric featuring Umbro's Climate Control technology, which enhances the movement of moisture away from the body.
The shorts, in a lightweight, durable woven fabric, are black with red side panels and this season sees a return to black socks, with contrast red turnover and striping detail to complete the clean visual aesthetic of the new kit.

The logos of official club sponsor Boylesports and official kit supplier Umbro also feature on the design.
Defender Anton Ferdinand recently modelled the new kit and liked what he saw: "It's a great design and very comfortable to wear. I especially like the embossed crest design which looks really smart."
Sunderland AFC Marketing and Commercial Director Lesley Callaghan added: " We hope that fans will like the new design which includes a range of special features and by buying direct from SAFC they can be confident that they are continuing to invest in the Clubs' future."

Seriously, a football shirt should be just that: a shirt for playing football in. Something like this- clean, crisp, and classic- looks better on the pitch any day of the week than something really elaborate that looks like it belongs in David Bowie\'s closet. It\'s 2009, by the way. If you want something exciting, go back to 1992.
Overall,a nice effect and good kit.
Well done Umbro - why not give your designers a crack at the England kit next time around?
The sponsor really ruins it though.
Odd that it has the old elongated Umbro logo though...
Last seasons kit (08-09) was alot more appealing and was always going to take some beating but the whloe way this shirt has been , the produced is poor.
It only has one quality and that is the engraved badge in the shirt. But to put the shirt in a sheild is a shocker.
shame the magpies wont see us wearing it
That\'ll look good when you see some smelly tramp wearing it with tracksuit bottoms with his kebab as an accessory, perhaps some blue pop too!
Typical Sunderland, not too flashy, very traditional.
Nice innovation with the embossed crest, plus the old skool wrap-over roundneck and the 90s Umbro style of housing club crests within an additional shield.
Not sure why the Umbro diamond isn\'t the same as the England version. Because of that, the kit looks outdated already!
I like the current one better, umbro, need to get some better designers, or, something
I\'m a Hearts fan but i suspect from the sneaky peaks on our website our Umbro shirt has a flappy collar - which may be good but I like this one
still a verry nice kit
TOON TOON BLACK AND WHITE ARMY
Disappointing because the last two seasons\' kits have been really nice.
Childish behaviour from Umbro because Everton binned them off for making rubbish shirts
