I do like the way the new crest looks, and also the lack of the word England upon it. The name of the opponent team under the crest isn\'t so original, many teams do it, but that\'s the most beautiful way to do it. Very good and very vintage look.
It reminds me of a classic kit, no crap on it. I like it but I wish they had a better pic, it\'s hard to see the details on this one but I\'ll be happy if the rest of it is as detailed as the crest pic.
Love the crisp white fabric, however; there are some issues...
i) the collar is too small ii) the neck buttons don\'t go down far enough iii) the logo is too high v) the crest is too high iv) white shorts? vi) the sleeves are too short
And finally, it looks like an ill-fitting cheap polo shirt.
if you bother to watch the videos from umbro, you would find out: 1. that umbro let slip the design themselves. 2. that the shirt and badge is inspired by the 1950s shirts hence the plainness, which I believe is what most england fans were looking for (look at the reaction to the fake with the red sleeves). 3. that their were aiming for the design NOT to look like a football shirt. 4. the shirt is designed to fit better on you.
If you don\'t like it, don\'t buy it. I just find it strange that when nike produce retro-ish designs everyone seems to love them, but umbro put some work in to give us a shirt that actual might be as comfortable as \'normal\' clothes to wear in all conditions and people are indifferent or split.
What is wrong with people, you all talk complete ******** on here especially you LoveAlfa who has decided to point out 6 things that are actually things that are all the good things about the new kit. The new kit is a classic well crafted shirt that is full of quality which the all the shirts these days are missing. The players and fans can finally wear an England shirt that is worth wearing as well as something that they can be proud to put on. It actually looks like something of quality so that is what we should be demanding as a country with tradition and heritage. So grow up you miserable ****s!
the star should go new start for england alot of talking about 1966 nthas loong ago a new cup is needed to be brought back from south africa to english football
Wow, I love this kit I think it is pure quality, hopefully the red umbro logo means a return to red numbering as well, I wish they would re-design the away shirt in a similar fashion.
My only concerns with having plain retro kits is that firstly they are so awesome that there is nowhere to go in terms of design for the next kit, it is always bound to be a let down.
Secondly I always feel that modern boots could make a kit like this look a bit out of place, but if every player was forced to wear adi pure it would be pure class!
1. Why are umbro trying to \'hide\' the star? either make it obvious its there or get rid of it. 2. In one of the videos Joe Cole can be seen holding a sample with a red number suggesting red numbering is back.
I don\'t understand all the censoreding about the kit...it looks great...very retro also very original the way the crest and the oposing team are placed.
there are real pics for 09/10 season jerseys: http://www.*spam*.com
Bullsh-t, you went ahead and bit on not one but 2 false positives for the new England kit and now you\'ve probably got a warehouse full of fake sh-t you\'ll never EVER be able to sell. And it serves you right you lowlife.
looks like my old P.E kit.....we might as well play in skins....... ; )
so.. they say they\'ve tailored each shirt for every player ?. so every player who ever gets picked for England is going to be \'measured up\' are they ? . . and they have done that already have they ? . each possible Engand player , thats quite alot of eligable players to tickle with the tape measure
what a load of B O L L O C K S mate.
no wonder its the most expensive one yet - they\'re budgeting in a trip for each player to be driven to some tailor\'s place ! . . . . Its probably nice up close .... the shirt....dont look worth 50 sheets though
Oh my God, some of you have common sense, but most of you are very annoying. It is a very nice, crisp kit. \'Umbro\' is a good make (and it owned by Nike). Please stop complaining, you don\'t have to buy the kit if it cost\'s too much . Our kit (Wales) is made by \'Champion\'. Need I say any more.
no matter what umbro does or even any other company, england fans are never happy with what is released. Its a class shirt, that shows our history. I\'d far rather have this look then one that has to many complicated designs and colours that its hard to even reconize the crest.
That David Blanch chap in the second video. Man alive, that is one annoying intonation in his voice. SPEAK PROPERLY MAN!!! DON\'T SPEAK TO ME LIKE I\'M AN IDIOT!!!!!
its alright all this English heritage bulls**t but since when has the working class football supporter been able to afford tailored garments. its ok the players on 50 grand a week having individually fitted shirts but its the fans who will be buying the shirt mass produced by machine in JJB.
I and a lot of other true supporters wouldnt care if they played in a t shirt and bermuda shorts as long as we put up a decent performance on the pitch.
they should spend more time on the training pitch practicing penalties and preparing to play far more superior teams in the later stages of the cup than prancing about down the f-ing tailors.
Yet again building up the hype then disappointing the fans when they fail to deliver on the pitch.
If they believe in the new design that much then they should promise to keep it for more than 2 years, come 2011 we will get all this marketing crap again for yet another so called revolutionary kit.
Concentrate on how you play on the pitch, not how nice you look in your kit.
i like the new kit. it is classic. maybe a little bit too classic but... i am expecting to see the numbering. umbro should use an oldstyle numbering (something like the man united numbering on their remake kit from the derby against city last year on old trafford). the shirt will look much better with numbers on the chest. and maybe if possible no names on the back, just numbers from 1 to 11 and that´s all. and another fact - you can wear this jersey on the street with jeans and it will look great! not like a typical football shirt, something modern and classic... so wear it with pride! and COME ON ENGLAND!
Are we THAT PC in this country now that we can\'t even put the name \'England\' on the England shirt - I think it\'s good having the players wear the fixture on their tops but not at the expense of the name \'ENGLAND\' under the crest!!!
you don´t need the name england on the england shirt! everyone who looks at the crest will know - THIS IS ENGLAND AND NOTHING ELSE! the three lions are enough!

It\'s NOT a PC decision. Very many England fans said that putting \"ENGLAND\" above the badge was unnecessary because everyone in the football world knows what country the 3 Lions represents, and a lot of fans will be happy to see it go.

This is a brilliant kit. Enough said.
