West Ham United officially revealed the brand new Umbro home kit for the 2009/10 season - with Ray Winstone the first to don the new-look strip.

The die-hard fan and Hollywood actor took time out from his busy schedule to take part in a special promotional photo-shoot at the Boleyn Ground as part of the club's new 'I'm Forever' campaign with a host of local supporters also getting involved.

The new-look kit will be available from the club's Lakeside and Stadium stores from Thursday 30 July but can be pre-ordered today by clicking here.

Speaking to WHUTV, Ray said: "I actually really like it. It is comfortable. It is claret and they reckon they are going to have white shorts with claret socks. It is nice - it makes me feel very slim funny enough! It is the claret and blue and that's all I am worried about … this is beautiful, it is claret and blue, what else do you want?"

Meanwhile, the 2009/10 away kit - worn for the first time in the 2-1 friendly victory at Grays Athletic on Sunday - continues to prove popular with fans flocking to snap up the striking new navy blue strip. Y

ou can also get hold of selected items from the new season Umbro Training Range, which will be worn throughout the squad's summer tours of Austria and China this month, by visiting the club stores in person or online.

Works really well. Like the checker pattern, similar to the new Rangers kit without the checkered sleeves. I also like the collar because it also utilizes the trimming as well. Solid kit.

As for the goalkeeper... umm... not a big fan of the assymetrical blue mound thingy.

Home shirt.....Hmm, not that sure about the shade of blue on the shirt(might just be the lighting) and it not being on the sleeves, and the huge sponsor (the childrens will have the Bobby Moore Fund logo on instead in all likelyhood), but it does look pretty good it has to be said.

It really is nasty isnt it - not to mention the fact that the short and long sleeve versions have a DIFFERENT DESGIN. And that massive 2-bob badly desgined logo just makes it worse.

But dont worry hammers, Scott Duxbury has said to the lovely people at KUMB.com that we will have a say in what the kit looks like next year, much like some of Championship clubs did. I reckon a retro one with 2 blue hammers for the badge will be popular.

Awful ! since when did West Ham turn into Torino out of the Italian league. Last time I checked west ham had blue sleeves and white socks. This is just a cheap and nasty effort, even Ray doesn\'t look happy, all concerned at Umbro and West Ham should be ashamed of themselves!

This shirt is awful.

Umbro did a fantastic job of the England shirt recently, and Man City will be taking to the field in a similar \'Tailored By Umbro\' design this season.

Why do we have to be the poor relation in this 80s rehash? If Ray Winstone can\'t make it look cool what chance do the rest of us have?!

I\'m a huge West Ham fan. Where are the sky blue sleeves? COME ON, all West Ham fans KNOW that the home shirts have got to have sky blue sleeves. This West Ham home shirt now looks like a Servette FC Geneve, Torino or Reggina. No way Umbro, you got this one absolutely wrong. I\'m disappointed with this effort

Properly mugged off again.
I don\'t know how these muppets do it.

Last years home shirt was bad this is just the worst since the days of Scoreline.

What\'s up with producing a proper shirt unlike this pub team effort.

Back hander city by the looks of it.
Did a Millwall fan design this croc of s**t?

The best season WHU have had in recent memory was 1986. Also note the club did not have blue sleeves that year.

Quit ya whinin\' about the sleeves already!

If you look at the West Ham website you\'ll see a different design for the infants kit, which is much better for two reasons. 1. It has a v-neck retro collar which is more in-fitting with the actual retro look and 2. I think I speak for most West Ham fans when I say that we should have the Bobby Moore Cancer Trust on the front like the kids\' kit. That\'s not only because the club should show loyalty him and the foundation but because it\'s better than a big bloody BO bet thing on the font!

my friends a Hammer and pre ordered the new shirt. He likes Chess so whenever we lost the chess piece we are good to go :P.

Horrible effort from Umbro here I expected better from the. Great sportwear and great team just an awful awful design.

It\'s ok actually. I prefer the style of the away shirt but this is a good effort and look very unique. Doesnt even look like a west ham shirt...i think thats what makes it so cool. I\'ll defo be buying, Although lets be honest if you support your team you buy the strip no matter how bad/good it looks.

Ive got a fever! And the only perscription... is blue sleeves...

Na, in all seriousness... a all claret top has cropped up in our history. And look at the record we have wearing that shirt! All those people whinging that west ham NEED blue sleeves need to remember a bit further back or are too young to know/understand. Here is a bit of a reference to the following case study:

http://www.kitclassics.co.uk/kits/westham.gif

The year we finished the highest we\'ve ever finished in the football league (3rd! in 1986) we had an all claret top with blue pin striped hoops.

1987-89 we had one too that had blue stripes down the side. Nothing to note here except we had Paul Ince and was relegated from the top flight. A dark part of our clubs history, easily forgotten.

91/92 we won promotion into the top flight wearing an all claret top with blue trim (really similar to this one! it even had the chequered pattern but not as prominent)

1999 we had an all claret top with blue stripe over the shoulders a bit similar to arsenals current kit. And we was in europe that season and won the intertoto cup and went onto better things obviously.

With a bit of luck we might carry on this trend of success in a slightly different top.

and if you really want to push out on a limb, we had a season with only 1 blue sleeve... but we made an FA cup final that year in 2006. I cant complain at all.

Why would anyone ever want to revisit the 90\'s terrible designs.. very disappointed.

Gets far more hate than love from Hammers fans, but I myself--while easily would have went with something else--actually enjoy it, if only because it\'s so drastically different.

Plus I do love the claret socks this time around.

Villa do the blue socks and I never cared for the look at all, so if they aren\'t white, claret looks just as sharp.

I\'m excited. The new away strip looks class in their Grays friendly. I\'ve purchased both and shall wear with pride.

COME ON YOU IRONS!

What a shame Umbro didn\'t take the \"Tailored\" approach to the West Ham kits, the great tradition of this club and it\'s iconic claret & blue jersey would have made a for a great kit. Instead they serve up this 80s/90s mish mash of a design. Umbro could have made a real comeback this season by being true to their \"Tailored\" look across all of the teams.

VERY ORIGINAL, JUST WHAT I WAS EXPECTING

09/10 SEASON KITS FROM ADIDAS AND NIKE ARE VERY BAAAAAAAD, ONE OF THE WORST DESIGN SEASONS I REMEMBER

BUT UMBRO IS STILL ON TOP, WITH THE MOST ORIGINAL KITS

THIS IS JUST GREAT. BUT I WOULD LIKE IT MORE WITH LIGHT BLUE SLEEVES

Its far from the ugliest shirt we\'ve had, but pretty close.
Umbro should have done better, as they did with the England shirt.

Despite that, i will buy it to keep supporting my team.

I totally disagree with some saying they will buy other (selfmade) just to make their protest shown. Keep behind the Irons - forever - no matter what!

What the hell does it matter what design we have as long as we beat Spuds????

I think the new West Ham Home Kit is very nice. The colors are cool and the combination with the white shorts and the wine-red socks is also very good.
But the best is the new home Goalkeeper-Kit. I love that style! The blue is the coolest color so far and the design is unique. I love it!
