Not nice, not horrible but certainly doesn\'t look like a west ham shirt. That\'s like putting Newcastle in a plain black shirt.

And why the squares?!

ahhhhh.... the shirt is very good, but the square pattern that worked so well on the Rangers shirt looks out of place here. besides, there are few cyan details in this kit; they could have eliminated the sleeves but still they could have kept the socks or something on the shorts. it\'s kinda sad because those two things lower the quality of a shirt that is quite amazing.

That really is disappointing. I though someone who was \'in the know\' said it was going to get the taylored in England look. That would have looked classic. The only reason City have \'taylored\' design is Gary Cooke was high up in Nike. If West Ham had some like the England kit, claret with blue sleaves it\'d looked mint. Instead they get a throwback to an 80\'s bukta shirt.

City have the best kits this new season, no contest.

The reason City have the \'Tailored in England\' vibe is because they\'re a newer Umbro contract and this West Ham kit was designed long before Umbro came up with the whole marketing plan of \'Tailored in England\'
Reply | Reply with quote | Quote

0 # Tim 2009-07-11 14:30
The reason City have the \"Tailored in England\" stuff and the other teams don\'t is because these kits were all designed a year ago - before City had sorted out their new contract with Umbro, and their kits were designed around the same time as the release of the England kit.

A guy that works for Umbro told me this, BTW.

I got the new away shipped to me a day early than it made it to fans in England and I love it. Fits nicely.

I expected a mostly claret top and while the checkered print isn\'t preferred, I do love the retro appeal and collar. Love the claret socks too.

I\'ll be ordering this come Monday.

The sponsor looks 100x better than last year.

Not a bad year to ditch the blue sleeves with aston villa and now burnley in the premiership, why not try to look different?

0 # ncl4eva42 2009-07-13 02:53
NOOOO! this is what I feared when Burnley won the cup to get in the top flight (although I\'m glad those blade a-holes stayed down). We\'ve been in the premiership longer than Burnley and we shouldn\'t have to change our home kits, let alone both, just because of them! This is so messed up. How can we be claret and blue through and through without the blue. I really hope this is one horrible joke, because I was going to buy my first west ham shirt in two years, but it seems like I\'ll have to wait until next season if this is true.

really disappointed if this is the real deal, i was hoping for a tailored look, similar to the new england kit. umbro make some nice kits, but until they stop producing these tired old designs and 80\'s throwbacks, theyre never goin to compete with the likes of nike and adidas. it annoys me to think about teams like arsenal who have a nice kit every year, whilst were stuck with these tacky designs that just emphasise the fact that were a lower standard club. i think its about time west ham at least tried to look the part.
i was looking forward to a decent shirt this year, i really thought umbro were gonna pull it out the bag.
this is a poor design, and i wont be buying it.

It\'s very, very 90\'s, and not in a good way. It already looks dated. I wasn\'t opposed to the checkerboard pattern on the Rangers kit, but the sky blue flashes on the shoulders and the collar ruin this one for me.

It\'s a crap year for kits in the Premier League this year...

Umbro originated in Manchester, and City were the first team to wear an Umbro kit 75 years ago. That\'s why City are the first team to get the \'tailored treatment\'.

Also in 85-87 the sleeves weren\'t blue, but at least that shirt was pinstriped,
I don\'t really understand this lack of blue,
but the shirt itself is very good and classy.

I freaking love it. This just makes me hate Umbro even more, they wait until we (Everton) got a new kit designer, then make thier best shirt template in years. Our last few umbro shirts were prety much plain with a white small trim on the shoulder, and a crew neck collar, same old, same old.

I love this, and I hate the way west ham have sky blue sleeves, and villa. It\'s like Chelsea\'s white socks. Looks stupid.

As a Hammer\'s fan I\'m still not sure whether I like it or not, would have to see a better picture.

Maybe I\'m a little dissapointed as I built an image in my head judging by the picture of Ray Winston on the whufc site with him crossing his arms to hide the shirt. Judging from the small details you can see from that picture it looked to have been a plain silky claret top with perhaps small white logo, badge and simple V-neck quite similar to an old Torino shirt.

Think the arms let it down a bit as well as the collar, maybe should of gone for a retro v-neck to tie in with the squares.

it reminds me of the 89-91 home kit we have without the blue sleeves. it does look a bit alien compared to all our other kits but thats whats special about haveing a new kit every year. the teaset featuring ray winstone could have been photoshoped. i doubt we are in the same kit bracket as man city and england because we are on the same deal that allows certain designs to be produced. man city and england had signed new contracts and that contract included the tailored designs, just basic clean shirts. where as west ham, rangers, hull city, hearts all have different designs.

the main focus point is our sponsor... SBOBET is a horrible sponsor to have, there has been no design thought in it. i think if we had a flashy sponsor like barclays, sony or ford then it\'ll look alot better. but we haven\'t seen the bobby moore logo on it yet.

i must admit looking at the badge and the sbobet \"running man\" on the left hand side it does look mocked up.

we\'ll know for definate on monday. on www.whufc.com.

I thought that last years West Ham kits, besides the sponsor debacle, were perfect and as unique as they could get for still using a template. The color combination was classic and the lines near the shoulders were a good and balanced design element.

These on the other hand are just bad, boring, and haphazardly designed. I am not really a fan of West Ham but would watch last year just because of the uniform. I have no desire whatsoever to see these uniforms in action.

it will become a classical kit if STRING is added to the collar as Umbro did in 92-94 season.

Lads, my initial reaction was the same, it seems wrong, but fiuck me mate its grown on me over the weekend! Now i\'m a traditionalist and this tops different than normal, but think of it this way, it aint the end of the world, the last few home tops have all been same old, same old and this is abit different. When i look back at all my memories of upton park in years to come, that shirt will stick out in my memory as the one from the 09-10 season, which will hopefully be a cracker on the pitch! Good to see a footy shirt with a fruckin collar on for once and all. So lets have it right lads, if it looks the part then it does the trick. Imagion old julian ****s belting one in from the spot past schmichael at the bobby moore in this top! Makes me proud to be west ham thinkin back of memories like that.
