newcastle united 10-11 puma shirts leaked

These pictures, of what seem to be the Newcastle United Home, Away and Third football shirts made by Puma were published on Newcastle-online.

Back in January, Puma and Newcastle United Football Club signed a new partnership that sees the leading sports lifestyle brand become the official supplier and the official licensee of replica merchandise for Newcastle United.

The new deal will see Puma supply team kit, replica kit and training equipment for two years starting from the beginning of the 2010/2011 season.

Or their 3rd kit either! Newcastle will end up wearing their black and white stripes against Wigan's blue and white stripes.

This has often been a problem with Newcastle, who for some reason frequently have dark blue or grey away kits, which end up still clashing with the home kits of the teams they are playing.

It shouldn't be allowed imo.

Cheap rubbish. I'm embarrased for them. That away shirt is an insult to newcastle. No thought and effort. If you went back 10 years and looked at some of the away shirts they had then, with the newcastle brown ale logo and told them in 2010 that will be your away shirt, they'd think it was windup. It's a cheap sunday league shirt with newcastle logos stuck on! Is this a commercial partnership with puma or a proper kit manufacturer????????

As a Newcastle fan, I'm praying to god these are just another set of fakes. Both shirts are terrible. Minimal thought and effort into either and even the quality of the shirts themselves from these photo's just look cheap and nasty. What can you say about the home shirt? The collar is terrible, the Puma logo's positioning looks out of place and unbalanced, the badge looking like an iron on as opposed to anything stitched. It's just a quickly put together black and white striped shirt. As for the away, see above. Just a blue tshirt, with another horrible collar and an iron on badge. The white background of the emblum on the blue shirt looks like its been produced in the back of a van and is on sale at a local flea market. They honestly look like poor rip off's of a real shirt, that sadly doesn't exist. As for the white shirt, i'm assuming its a third kit. After the first two efforts, I wouldn't be surprised if the reason we were only getting to see the collar was down to the fact that a slogan such as "I love Sunderland" was stamped across the chest. An embarrassing first effort from Puma. As a fan who never wanted to see Adidas go i'd have needed something pretty impressive to sway me but I honestly didnt expect anything as shoddy as this. First time in god knows how many years I wont be purchasing any new kit.

Pile-o-shite.

Home shirt is a mess, crap collar, northern rock logo looks like me ma's ironed it on, and don't get me started on the badge (which isn't even placed central in line with the stripe). More than likely there won't be stripes on the back of the shirt and we'll have another crap black patch for the names and numbers.

Away shirt is shite as well, just bring. Overall both shirts look like they've been made on the cheap, but they'll charge 40 quid a pop.

If they are photoshopped, then the person that did them is the Jesus of Photoshopping.

They look 110% real. Whether they are the actual shirts they'll where next season is another matter... but the shirts are actually there and the printing/stictching etc is also real.

actually he might be right i dont think its photshopped but i think its just a collation of shirts that he has taken of other shirts and put on it, in saying that im a nufc fan and these are terrible, keep the kits we have now just stick a puma logo on em no need to change

I like the stripes style (reminiscent of the 99 kit) but the collar, badge, sponsor logo and manufacturer logo all suck

I think you've mistaken the '99 kit for every newcastle kit there has been. I'm pretty sure they're always stripes. You been in a coma for 11 years?

I think IanSF was referring to the stripe edges rather than the overall striped design. This shirt has a kind of saw-tooth pattern where the stripes meet, just as the '99 home shirt did.

Whether these are fakes or not I don't know but I do generally prefer the adidas designs those of puma. Adidas just seem to put more effort into their designs

Shut your bloody mouth you faggot, your shirts have a black cat on them. Enough said. And we weren't in the Championship last season. Go wank off to the "glories" of yesteryear (oh boy you won the championship - your first trophy in 20 some odd years) because you're a shit team with a shit owner and shit fans and you're going straight back down. In fact, I've got better odds on us getting Europe for 2010/2011 then Newcastle being in the PL for the same season.

You were taught colours as a child, yes? That cat is most certainly blue.

The whole "black cat" thing is ridiculous anyway. After decades the SAFC board stop and think "Actually, we might need a nickname. Let's put a vote out to the fans!". Absolutely pathetic.

It shouldn't even need to be said, but Sunderland as "the pride of the North East"? Maybe you should tell your players that so they can move out of NE1. Oh, and tell all the tourist information offices too! I'm sure they'll love having to redo the Visit England advert to remove the Tyne from the advert in exchange for a carbon copy of the Tyne Bridge and... oh right, that's all you lot have got around there, haven't you?

Anyway, on topic I don't like the change kits at all. Very plain, very boring and too much like the Italy kit (add the guido decor and you've got the same kit with different badges!) an it seems like some little get has written on the third kit (maybe in an effort to make it more interesting...)

I like this rendition of the traditional Newcastle look. It's stylish but simple. It's aesthetically pleasing (lots of symmetry and what not). I love how they did the trim. But the badge does look a little funky. Overall, a very solid effort.

I can't see the team ever putting "Toon Army " on any official merchandise... the Toon Army refers to the supporters not the team. That and the shoddy placement of sponsors and crests makes me think this is another photoshop job,

Right, I DO like the shirts, however, I can only feel Newcastle dont wanna lose that 'ADIDAS FEEL' when you look at the positioning of the Puma logo. I think it'd look much better on the right hand side.
It doesnt look right where it is.
Having said that, it is a nice set of kits, the Away looks a bit like Italy's....But on the home, I like the white detail around the crest.

It's a specially designed shirt for Newcastle and it's not a budget template.

Look at the way the stripes join - a feature commonly seen on Newcastle shirts - also the collar has only been introduced for the coming season in club football.

Show me another team who have used this ''template'' and i'll be amazed.

Home Kit:
-Hate the puma logo in the middle, would have liked the Crest to have been larger then usual and the theme being more retro.
-Absolutely hate the Northern Rock Logo and I've hated them for the previous two home kits witht he felt slab. They should have kept to the style that has been used before and is still used on the away kits. This time though it looks like a iron on graphic and not felt so maybe this isn't a photoshop job but a layout of a possible kit from inside puma given that the photo is taken with the shirts on a wooden floor?
-On the other hand they've made the puma logos on the sleeves smaller which is a slight improvement but they don't need to have 3 of the same logo on a shirt.

Away kit: Nothing special, just a generic template probably based for Cardiff

Third kit?: Toon Army - yes a nice gesture to the fans that sell out SJP every week but you'd think they would have gone for Magpies as its about the team, the club...

cheap rubbish, that's if they're real. I mean look at some of the fantasy designs and they put this design to shame. Away kit looks like a training top. the home kit looks shoddily thrown together with iron on everything. If they are real, I will not be buying either of them and I won't be buying for my kids either. That's £100 you're not getting ashley sort it out.

If this really is Puma's first Newcastle shirt then I am AMAZED.

It's a mess of a shirt, it looks like the designer designed this with a blindfold on. I'm actually surprised there wasn't a donkey's tail pinned in that gaping deadspace where the logo really should be.

Crikey, where do you start analysing this shirt? The badge and logo placing would be a good, or bad, place. The Puma logo centred would be fine if they had balanced it by placing the club badge underneath it, but for some reason they are perservering with the misguided trend for leaving a space where the brand logo should be. Obviously this style was created for international teams who have to have the player number on the front.

For club teams who don't need the number it just looks wrong. Very, very wrong - like green horses. The aforementioned deadspace it creates looks cheap.

The club badge straddling the stripes doesn't work at all. It creates a visual tension which just isn't pleasing to the eye. It would be bad enough if the badge was balanced with the logo on the opposite side of the shirt, but with the logo slapped above it and to one side the overall effect is unnecessarily disjointed and clunky, like a pissed breakdancer.

To make matters worse they have chosed to put a large stroke of white around the badge. This makes it look like an ironed on badge.

The less said about the NR logo the better as it was obviously plonked on as an afterthought.

At least it has black and white stripes though, but why do they have to stick those white flashes on the sides? Why not pare it down and do something classy like Umbro have been doing? The shirt looks like it wasn't given any love at the design stage, which is unforgivable.

Didn't the designer get a rush of adrenaling when they sat down to design this? Didn't they want to make a statement? As it is it looks like they either weren't bothered or, worse, they were stifled by a committee of marketing consultants who have no imagination, sense of style or clue.

If this the final design then so be it, but 5 minutes photoshopping partly saved the day. Puma, if you are reading this; why don't you consider tweaking your design?

The only reason why sunderland is seen as a bigger city is because you have a larger population (and still struggle to fill a smaller stadium). But thats what happens when you keep ****ing your sisters.

And bigger club, yeah because youve spent far more time in the premier league and in europe....oh wait!!

It takes a geordie to to run your club in the premier league.

You deluded prick!!! Bigger ground, 16 consecutive years in the PL until recently! (you've managed three consecutive at the most if I'm not mistaken) higher average attendances in the Championship than you managed in the PL (see sky sports news if you dont believe me) Better fans, proved by our comparitive attendances when we were relegated, the fact is, your lot are all shitting in their knickers at the thought of us being back in the PL, you may have been the highest placed team in the North East last year but you still werent the biggest club!! and you never will be!

When i asked a girl in sports direct if she knew of the release date of new kit a few weeks ago, she said she did not know as they had to be recalled for some reason to do with the badge, but did say she had seen the pictures and described what is pictured here, so i assume this is it, crap shirts from puma. She mentioned that the away shirt would be white and 3rd shirt blue.

These are genuine shirts from Puma's 2010 powercat 1.10 range, that cost around £20 each depending on how many you buy for your local amateur/sunday league club. I'm still dubious about them being genuine, but if they are, its a pretty poor show by all involved to literally just stick the club crest and sponsor on stock template shirts that will be worn by pub teams all over the country next season. Although not all the adidas shirts were great, they were unique to Newcastle Utd. The grandad collared shirt with the brown ale logo was a work of art and would have been the one we won the Premiership in, had we not so famously blown it....
Guest

Guest

They look awfully cheap and lazy. Mind, assuming these aren't the 100% completed product, it seems sensible to suggest the tacky iron-on logos are just for prototype purposes and the real deal will still be stiched onto them before release. I hope...

The back is not totally black whoever said that , I think the home one does not compare to adidas , I love the away kt and who cares about the 3rd kit , it's just for when we win the fa cup if we need to wear it hahha (I wish) I'm geting home and away, the home kit is not a normal puma design , it's especially for the tooooon .

Of course they're not official photo's they wouldn't be "leaks" if they were, they'd be photo's taken from an official launch. The fact they qualify as "leaks" is due to the fact that they've been taken by someone in possession of the shirts and posted online. Obviously there's nothing to say that they're 100% genuine but go and look at other pictures on this site, there's loads that aren't official, because they're leaks. Thats the whole point-They've leaked before the official launch, hence them being taken in random places.

look properly to the back of the home shirt..the stripes only go half way..upwards is the white patch..

zoom in to the stripes on the front..zigzag like the current home kit..

my conclusion..this is actually a fake using the current home kit with some Puma template to make it look real..

owh..look at the back of the collar..some reason the white outline of the collar stops..

The Puma logo looks like it has been put on there using paint..

I'm not really sure what to make of these shirts. I don't see the big deal with the white (away?) shirt - it doesn't look too bad. Sure it could've been more adventurous but maybe I'm just easily pleased.

As for the home shirt - there's not really a whole load you can actually do with black and white stripes! Although I do hope that the shirt shown above isn't the actual release, I won't be terribly disappointed with it & like thousands others; I'll still buy it. (I agree that the badges look totally unbalanced and out of place though!)

Just a small note that I've noticed that no-one else seems to have mentioned. If you look at the second image of the front of the home shirt by its self, look at the black box housing the "northern rock", the material doesn't look like the "felt" type material we've had for the past 2 years, it almost looks slightly reflective and plastic - take particular notice to the right of the "h".

Not sure what everyone else thinks but I can't imagine a football shirt being released with plastic on it! (May be a prototype as people have mentioned I suppose).

I, like most of you have been checking nearly everyday to see what our new kit was gonna be and i've got to say i'm absolutely gutted. i joked to my mate how bad cardiff's collar was and now they gone and [censored]ing done it to ours. considering most geordies will buy the kit no matter what, even the yellow kit, there's been no thought or effort in this attempt. how long do we have this kit for and for that matter how long do we have puma for? i want nike or get addidas back. they really are terrible. the fantasy shirt that was doing the rounds was much better. if this is just a template then i'll sigh a breath of relief
Guest

Guest

I don't think these are fakes, they're standard puma designs with slight tweaks, the writing underneath the collar or the white top is something puma have done on a few other shirts. The collar is the same as puma are using more often now, if you look, there's a tag with the club badge on coming from the back of the blue kit. I hope they aren't the actual kits because in all fairness they're a little bit shite, hopefully they wont be a stupid skin tight style like some of the Tottenham or Italy shirts of the last few years. I think I'm the only one that like the puma logo in the middle, as it's a little bit different from our normal home shirts. I honestly think last season was one of our better pairs of change kits and I don't think the black and blue 3rd kit can be topped

If these were all made by Adidas none of you would be complaining, there really isn't much wrong with them apart from being a bit plain and having an interesting collar. But if you look around the Premier League its not like any other club's shirt is that much better, all are plain and pretty boring. At least we don't have some stupid V across our chest like Man united or a sponsor like "Boylesports" across our chest.... Ahem Sunderland.

Enrique-that's the issue mate. Adidas wouldn't put their name to something like this because it looks cheap and nasty. They'd have provided us with something far nicer. The kit we had just this season was one of the nicest for a while. It's not just the collar. The badge/logos look terrible and the shirt on the whole looks cheap.

Hello, Just a quick word to put your minds at ease.

I work for Puma. However, not in a production Factory. Im actually a marketing representative and work mostly on the continent. I like to check this site quite a lot as I am a lifelong football fan and ultimately, a bit of a Newcastle nut! I heard yesterday that the site had posted pictures of the new toon tops so i got a bit exciited as I hadn't seen them! So, from my hotel i logged straight on and checked them out. I was very dissapointed to see the home kit looking rather bland but for the other two, well i quite like them. The blue one especially is probably the most bright and punchy looking footer shirt I've seen for any Premier League team so far this season.

Now...I'm going to put your mind at rest. I contacted a collegue who has contacts at the production factory in Asia. I waited a fair while for a response on the question but I asked him if he could check that the kits posted were the ones making final production. Well, they're not....not yet anyway.

The tops you can see above are only three of eight. All are prototypes and no definite desision has been made on the final kits.

I was notified that they had not started to produce any Newcastle tops yet, currently there are only the eight produced 3 of which you see above. There have been four home top prototypes made, and four away kit prototypes made. The white one above is an away kit option, not a third kit.

The club badges, and sponsor have been ironed for money purposes only. Embrioding the kit badge and sponsor on a prototype just isnt viable so thats the reason we haven't done it.

I have been advised that the collar is staying as is on above pictures however, one design does provide the Puma logo on the right hand side. There has also been a yellow, green and white away top prototyped...i have been informed.

There may be changes so dont expect these kits to be final products.

I would personally be happy for the blue away one mind.

How'ay the lads....

Thank you for your great post ToonUltra.

That certainly explains the dodgy looking badge and logos.

Recently there was supposed to have been a kit launch at SJP, this was cancelled -- so the excuse goes -- because of the ash. Puma execs were meant to have been stranded in New York. Can we read into this that officials at the club saw the final design and asked for improvements in the form of several new options or tweaks? That would seem to be the case.

i think we should go all out there on the away kit...like chelseas yellow or barcelona's orange :-* , i think the home kit needs a blue trim (the same shade as the away shit) just to bring it out of the past....the away kit needs stripes like out yellow one..like two tone blue..and the third kit isnt anything special...just glad the puma badge is blue not black

I believe the shirts are real unfortunately. Mike Ashley has a closer relatonship with Puma than Adidas through his Sports Direct ownership. I hope the price will reduce for sub standard quality. The crest is obviously a transfer compared to the stitched crest on the adidas shirts. If Puma only have a 2yr contract, then they won't put much effort into it. We can however thank our lucky stars that Ashley did not use his own brand 'Lonsdale'. :o

i really dont hope these are the real kits ... but to be honest i don't think they are as they look just like puma's training kits with a fake newcastle badge sewn on, they look like the kind of kit you would get from a dodgey market for about a tenner so really hopw these arnt the real ones

I Think these are just simply prototypes. there will be alot more designs being but through the pre-production stage, it just happens these ones were leaked out hence the ironed on club badge and overall lack of detail in sponsors etc.

I'll save my judgment till I see how they look in the shops (if indeed these are the correct ones). The quality looks a bit plain, the kind of shoddy cheap craftsmanship I would expect from Ashley's Thai sweatshops to maximize his profit margins. Personally I liked the yellow one, it had some character about it, some life of it's own. Now we are back to boring designs and the same old shades of blue with no originality. The yellow shirt didn't clash with any other team, now we're going to struggle to play in any of these against the likes of wigan...or perhaps thats the idea to sell a 4th, special edition shirt?? :)

The more I read and think of it, the more I think these pictures were leaked to make a mockery of Newcastle..Its like winding up the Geordie nation and to make us look like fools..these pictures are made and leaked by someone who obviously hates Newcastle so much that they design a stupid looking fake shirt and claiming it is our new kit. They are trying to make us the laughing stock with these cheap looking jerseys.

So Im looking forward to the real jerseys and maybe the person who leaked these pictures were blown away by our real kits and so jealous of it, they did this mock up..

Gentlemen, remain calm. Some respondents are being incredibly paranoid. There is no anti-Newcastle agenda and even if there was I don't think the means for displaying it would be the release of these prototype shirt designs. No-ones laughing at Newcastle besause of these shirts! Unless they're a total moron. I am Newcastle through and through but I don't pretend that we have some unique right to be treated as a special case with bespoke shirt designs. That might be a nice thought but its probably unrealistic in todays football world. For what its worth, my opinion is that we are looking at prototypes of the actual shirts that will be released. There might be a few tweaks here and there and the badges and sponsor details will eventually be production quality but essentially, this is the hand we are being played. Could be a lot worse and anyway its what's on the inside that counts.

If these pics are the real deal then shame on puma how could they insult the club like this as we have always been known for great kits.We should all say no and not buy these tacky pieces of tat and make our point.Looks like I`ll be wearing the addidas shirt for another couple of years yet what a joke.

These are shocking, but to be expected by a manufacturer who has no concept of "Newcastle Utd" the fans or the city...

No design, no thought, no vision, absolute two bob!

As a person who is involved in the football manufacturing industry, I am gutted that Puma will get the benefit of the financial reward from the best supported club in the country..

Ashley has obviously sold out to the highest bidder who will/has done the least amount of time/effort in building/designing these shirts..

Il be serious, the shirts arent all that bad, they maybe a little different and the away is a little plain, but its not the end of the world. because you dont support them just because of their shirts, fair enough they looked better in adidas, but if puma are paying more at the time its better for the club overall, its their football that makes them a good team not their kits.
