Philadelphia Union 10/11 Adidas Home Shirt

Philadelphia Union has unveiled its first-ever home game jersey which will be available in stores by the end of next week and available through the FSC Shop.

Driven by a commitment to authenticity, the club succeeded earlier in creating a classic football crest that has been embraced by its supporters. Philadelphia Union has worked to continue that commitment, creating a unique jersey reflective of the rich and vibrant history and traditions, one their supporters can proudly wear.

"There will be no mistaking the Philadelphia Union on the field or anywhere else for that matter with this jersey. We hope our supporters are as pleased with it as we are," said Philadelphia Union President, Tom Veit. “The jersey will be available market-wide at the end of next week but can be pre-ordered today at philadelphiaunion.com for delivery on the first day of availability."

“We are simply ecstatic with the way this home jersey turned out," remarked CEO & Operating Partner Nick Sakiewicz. “It will always be our goal to be true to our heritage and our supporters and offer them gear to wear that will always make them proud to be a part of our soccer family.”

The uniform jersey, very much like the crest, incorporates the colors of the Revolutionary Army and is a salute to the Club's fans and the history of the Greater Philadelphia Region.

Among the features of the club’s first game jersey:

- Midnight blue is the dominant color
- The club crest is centered on the front on a wide panel of Union gold
- Above the right breast, the adidas logo, maker of all official Philadelphia Union gear
- On the right sleeve, there is an MLS patch
- On the left sleeve, there is an American flag
- Accent piping, the light blue color of the flag of Philadelphia, can be found on both the top and bottom of the jersey, as well as the tip of each sleeve
- Back of collar, “Jungite Aut Perite”, Latin for Join or Die, Benjamin Franklin’s rallying cry for colonial unity.

Philadelphia Union’s first-ever First Kick will take place Thursday night March 25, 2010 vs. The Sounders at Qwest Field in Seattle. The home opener is set for Saturday, April 10 vs. D.C. United at Lincoln Financial Field.

I like it. The crest is badass. I worry than a sponsor would ruin it.

Woah, woah, woah, that's definitely not the one that was on the Union website. If I had to guess, I'd say this black one is away. Though a black away doesn't make much sense when the home is navy.

That's not "midnight blue," which is how the website describes it. I prefer the blue one.

I hate to break it to you Ghost, but this is a picture of the actual shirt. The blue just appears darker because the lighting is not ideal. Basing your expectations on an artist's rendering was never smart. The real thing always looks slightly different.

I dunno, I agree with you that if the shirt was actually this dark it would be bad, but I think it won't look much different than the color of the current Galaxy away shirt, which isn't bad. It might be a little darker, but not much. Don't worry, it will be navy.

Then it was foolish of them to put an artist rendering on the page instead of the real thing.

Though if it's about the same as LA's away, then I agree, it would be pretty nice.

I actually would be interested to see a version of the shirt with the navy and lighter blue switched. I think the shirt would look good with mostly sky blue and navy as an accent.

Knowing MLS and adidas, the Away shirt will be the exact opposite: mostly gold with a thick navy stripe down the middle. I just wish they would do a mostly sky blue shirt for the Away. I think it would look good.

That would be interesting, though I'm not one for sky blue. I was also thinking the same thing about the away: it will probably be just a reversal. Either way, I think it would look good. And a gold away shirt would be a nice change from the other MLS kits.

Well, they've posted the artist rendering of the away kit and it is just a reversal.

Just seen the Union store on their website, it's definately lighter, the colours they refer the kit to are (Dark Navy/Natural Khaki)

I will have a guess and say the away jersey will either be White, or khaki

Either way, I might get the home kit, looks VERY nice!

I don't like the light blue piping. Though I can't really tell, because the midnight blue looks midnight black on this crap monitor.

I don't like it. Looks like the Club San Luis kit & colors from Mexico. They could've done so much more with the lighter blue color. Something like Man City or Lazio... tsk!

I can't wait to see some of the other new MLS shirts coming out for next season. I believe that half of the teams will have new shirts.

Could have been a great shirt, if the gold stripe went all the way to the neck line. Looks off with it stopping at the chest - and the blue line coming across. Badge should be on the right - or adidas logo should be in the center. And enough with the three striped sleeves on every single shirt.

I felt that way about the stripe too, but overall I like the shirt. The changes you suggest might make a better shirt, but I'm pleased with it.

for their first kit, they did a great job making it fit Philadelphia. they even put *we are one* on the inside where no1 will see it except for the player who puts it on, now thats class.

If they keep the sponsor classy it will be one of the best kits in the mls

I was really hoping the kit would feature more of the lighter blue color. Hopefully they will do a third kit featuring this. This kit would look awesome with the light blue as the main color. Anyway, I do like this kit. At first I wasn't sure but it's definitely growing on me. I'm definitely buying one because I live in Philadelphia

I got a replica shirt for Christmas, and there is no American flag on it, nor have i seen the flag on the authentic ones as well.

Instead of the latin Join or die it says We are One on the inside color area. Its not even the SoB moto. Nice touch I guess if it relates to the idea of the revolutionary war ideal of many becoming one

Either way love my shirt!

I actually hated it at first, but when I saw them jerseyed up out on the field during the first game I changed my mind completely. It looks awesome on the field, the players looked like they were wearing armor barreling down the field.
