The president of the AFA unveiled the new Argentina World Cup 2010 Home Adidas football shirt in an event held today.

The new 10/12 Home shirt shows similarity to the Shirt worn at the World Cup 86 in Mexico.

The designer himself acknowledged that it is a retro design, and took inspiration from the legendary shirt worn by Maradona at the World Cup 86

The shirt will have its debut in the next friendly match against Spain, and will be available through the FSC Shop.

Thanks to Diego and Gonzalo

It's boring. It doesn't look classic, and it doesn't look modern. There's nothing exciting with it.

This is the trouble with new kits - if it is too simple, people will say it's boring. If it is too flashy - people will say that it is brash and distracts from tradition.

You can't win!

You don't get my point. Look at Englands shirt, that's a classic shirt (Still modern tecnology), and the kit Argentina used in 2006, was modern. This shirt ain't better than any of them.

The first decent adidas world cup 2010 shirt I've seen. My wife Trude really likes it too. My new album is out soon. It's about english winter songs or something. My last album had medieaval lutes in it I think.

Pure and simple, I like it
Expecially the white 3 stripes.
I hope it doesn't have a plain panel on the back for the number

STILL WITH VERON?

Aren't the US team wearing Nike for the World Cup? If it is adidas, I hope they update the great 1994 kits they had.

I am loving the way adidas are mixing classic simplicity with modern technology in their new range.

This shirt is no different - the thick dark blue outline to the AFA crest is a great touch along with the central white stripe and crew-neck. It reeks of 1986 awesomeness all over again. I can't help thinking that Maradona himself helped design this kit.

I just hope adidas don't bring back the "horrorzontal" striped shorts for Scotland's new kit.

I do wonder that the hologram is a clue to the 2010 adidas match-ball design?

Viva Veron, what a classy player.

Nice shirt, the "celeste y blanco" colors always match perfectly.
But in africa 2010, the world champion wears the "verdeamarela" colors. Brasil hexacampeão.

THAT'S a new kit I would love to see. Classic 1970 crew neck, no frills, no 5 stars just the plain old CBF crest with the stars maybe on the left sleeve or something under the tournament patch.

I disagree (but won't thumb down you - you are entitled to an opinion)

I think bold black adidas stripes will look out of place, especially as the shirt is only two-coloured.

Lets just say most of the Argentina past jerseys look great. I think it has to do with the colours. I like plain and simple jerseys. Germany and Argentina FTW!

Agree but West Germany's brilliant 1990 and 1994 kits exude arrogance. The best two German kits by a mile. The green away kit from the 1990 World Cup was one of the greatest adidas templates ever designed.

Worn by the USSR and Holland during Euro '88, the design was bold, arrogant and very contemporary.

Brilliant!!!

LOL, it looks old school, but gee, too loud for my gen x eyes. Although, they should go back with the original adidas logo for jerseys if they wanted a mix of vintage and modernity.

It is simple, the problem on the shirt is the same problem of all adidas shirts, the 3 strips. It could get to be a nice retro shirt but the true is that putting on it the 3 strips just stocked it in the middle of no where, neither in the past nor the present.

That was the beauty of the late 80s and 90s, shirts like these were bold, brash and very original, some were absolutely vile, others were design classics.

When you take the three stripes and redesign the 70s classic plain crew-neck or v-neck with the three stripes. If you do that, people won't like it as it is too boring, or people will love it.

Dull very dull. The argys always had one of the best kits in world football. The wider stripes were classic. This is just souless. Go back to Le Coq Sportif what a great kit that was.

It's pretty classy according from these views, but I'd like to have a view of the backside too before I can form an overall opinion.
Last season's shirt (which by the way was very similiar to this one) looked great drom the front, but one view of the back told otherwise.
Last seasons kit was spoiled by the sky-blue patch on the back, and I hope that they've figured out by now that black numbering is perfectly visible on white and sky-blue, even from a distance.
Anyway; if the back isn't spoiled by a patch this time I might consider getting this one.

Agree with Sting, this is the first very good-looking shirt made by Adidas for the coming World Cup (even if Greece is also quite nice IMO). I would have prefered something as classy as that for France, but I'm guessing it's because we haven't qualified yet... :)

White Adidas stripes are a nice touch, I don't feel shocked by it. Anyway, will Argentina wear white shorts as their young team is doing during the U-17 World Cup in Nigeria ?

@ Gazhorn : just a word on the German kits you've published : wonderful !

Nice shirt, I allways love more the Blue Shirt but i think is a god shirt. I think, the previus shirt is more Classic than this but the black stripes blow out the concept. Anyway they want to capture the feel of 86 when Maradona Play...the problem is Maradona is in the bench this time causing problems and throwing f***K to all that they don't like...I hate maradona i wish he resigns and release us from his s**t.

The fact that Argentina are always going to have the same basic stripes makes it easy to claim that one shirt looks similar to another. Other than the collar though, I'm not seeing the link.

That said it's still a decent jersey, nice to see that Adidas are not simply rehashing one or 2 templates for this round of kits.

And the one above?
Hint?
Notice the two thin white strips in the first one!!!
(And yes, it resembles Newcastle 2007, except with the neck collar)
