Arsenal 10/11 Nike Home Kit

Arsenal revealed their new strip for the 2010-11 campaign and, as revealed earlier on FSC, they are going back to the 70's, with an environmentally-friendly twist.

Arsene Wenger's side will return to the familiar and popular block red body with a white round neck collar and white sleeves, and every shirt is made entirely from recycled polyester crafted from up to eight plastic water bottles as part of Nike's 'Considered Design' programme.

The Dri-Fit fabric is claimed to be 13 per cent lighter than previous kits, and available here.

Theo Walcott, said: "The colours are very traditional, it feels nice and it's made from recycled plastic bottles so what more can you ask for?"

If I were an Arsenal supporter, I'd be offended they're asking me to pay full price for a "new" shirt they've recycled over and over forever. It's not a bad kit, it's just not a new kit either.
Good thing I'm not an Arsenal supporter. COYS!

Which makes you suspect that is why Nike mess about with them occasionally like with the last one - to ensure they have to do bugger all to please people/sell shirts next time around.

Not that I'm bashing this one, I'd be thrilled with it if I were a Gooner. Actually, I'd probably just buy the retro 1971 shirt though as they don't have ugly sponsors logos and have the old sstyle cannon on it. Also, it's £10 or £15 cheaper...

The only problem is it seems that its only going to be around for one season, rather than the usual 2 for arsenal, which is a massive shame, I would be happy to use this kit for 5-10 years, until there is a significant improvement in the technology perhaps, because any subsequent kit will almost by definition be inferior'

nice, except I already have one exactly like that from 2006-2007 (a gift from a friend, not something I would buy considering I'm a United supporter). I guess you can't really toy with a "classic" design if you want to please the fans, but I definitely won't be buying this seeing as it would just be a duplicate in my closet

First off, the shirt is absolute class.

That being said, with 2011 being Arsenal's 125th anniversary, I just wonder whether Nike is planning on fleecing the fans by releasing this same shirt in January with "125 Years" stitched on somewhere. They've done it before with Fulham:

http://www.footballshirtculture.com/09/10-kits/fulham-2009-nike-130th-anniversary-shirt.html

I hope I'm wrong and that the 11/12 shirts will pay some sort of homage to the 125th anniversary.

Funny how the sixties/seventies shirts have such resonance.
Liverpool, Leeds, Man City, Derby, Birmingham, West Ham, West Brom - all trace their classic shirts from this point.

I like this kit but I think hooped or red socks would have provided more balance.

That's because most of those clubs were decent then and picked up a trophy or two in those decades:

Liverpool: 6 titles, 7 cups
Leeds: 2 titles, 4 cups
City: 1 title, 5 cups
Derby: 2 titles
West Ham: 3 cups
West Brom: 2 cups
Birmingham: 1 cup

Football fans like kits that hark back to their glory days.

Maybe cause these were released last Thursday and Cesc was a little busy in South Africa?
Just cause some stupid rumour rags can make money by fabricating bogus stories about Cesc leaving doesn't mean it's true. Barca already bought David Villa this summer, and took out a €150mil loan to pay player wages last month, so I don't see the funds for a massive Cesc bid. He's a gunner at heart anyways.

It's nice. I buy every Arsenal shirt no matter what it looks like. I do feel a little cheated though.

1) I loved the photoshopped mock up with the old cannon and the small Fly Emirates logo underneath.

2) Put a gold stripe down either side of the front of the body and you have a previous home shirt.

3) Nike will fleece us again as it clearly states on the topic thread and on Arsenal.com this shirt is 2010/2011 home shirt. They'll call this an anniversary shirt, then give us another new one next season.

what do you want them to do?? Gunner fans want red body with white sleeves, there's only so much you can do with that. They've changed the collar, and the cuffs and the material.

Fans complain when there's a new kit every year, then complain that it doesn't change enough. Who says you're expected to buy a new one every year? It's not the companies putting pressure on fans to buy new shirts every year, its yourselves

I think adidas designers have it easier... they just have to design one template every season, then apply the appropriate colours/patterns for every adidas sponsored tream, slap on a crest and a sponsor logo and they're done them all.
At least at Nike/Umbro, every team gets a personalized design. Compare Arsenal home to Werder Bremen home, Juve away, and Inter home and you'll see that, like 'em or not, some thought went into these designs at least...

Just...loving this so much in the long sleeveness! Getting bought no bother. However yes it may be cheaper to buy the retro 1971 one indeed, but wouldnt the retro long sleeved be abit baggy? I know the 1971 top is just an classic but baggy sleeves isnt everyones cup of tea. However saying that, Nike has done such a impressive job with the remake and has done really well! Its about time we had a classic kit designed for us! Im happy :)

Nike and Arsenal have always been a great fit, and they keep that tradition going with that one.
No big surprise, and it seems like there's not much difference to last years jersey, but that's exactly eat: they kept it simple and traditional yet again, and that's what makes this jersey - like most of their past jerseys - one fine thing: the definition of a classy football uniform!

Simply brilliant,... as always...

Quoting Utto:
Why don't have Cesc in new suit ?

Go Barca ??

This shoot was done a couple of days ago. He couldn't be there because there's a small matter of something called a World Cup going on. Same reason van Persie isn't there too, in case you were wondering if he was leaving too.

This is just class. Simple and perfect if you're a Gooner.

I think it would look even better if they lose the shield on the club crest and just have the cannon. Just my opinion though......

I love the "victoria concordia crescit" detail sticked behind the badge... Different and I think a nice touch.

I'm a Spurs fan, but I have to say that this is the best home shirt i've seen from Arsenal, very nice.

Looks like North London have the best kits this year

Looks best in long sleeve, arsenal's kits are the best in the upcoming premier league season, we can win the title in style!

what a rubbish kit for arsenal.. why the hell make a kit that looks 99% like one they had 3 years ago? capitalism and lack of ingenuity is why arsenal sucks now. can't wait for fabregas to leave this sinking ship.

I just think it would look a lot nicer if it was covered in small latex nodules (about 30cm long), with slightly more bulbous ones around the collar.

probably already been said, but no fabregas? bit worrying for arsenal fans.

Great kit. For years now we've had to put up with differing variations on the traditional Arsenal kit, with fellow Gooners pleading with Nike to produce a genuinely traditional kit... Well... here it is. Nice to celebrate the 40th anniversary of winning the Fairs Cup with this. Good work Nike!!

Brilliant Kit! Just a shame that as usual the sponsors get in the way........The away kit is a superb blend of Ancient and Modern. Before people ask, I am an Arsenal supporter who lives in Salford, Greater Manchester. Also, I can see Man Utd's ground from my window every day!
