bayern munich 10-11 third adidas kit

Bayern and premium partner adidas have unveiled the club’s Champions League kit for the coming season, which will be available here. In their quest for a place in the final at Wembley next May, the German champions will wear a stylish combination of anthracite pin-striped shirts, with anthracite shorts and socks.

“I really like the new Champions League kit. It looks very classy,” commented Thomas Müller during Wednesday’s launch presentation at the Säbener Strasse. “All that’s needed now is for us to play classy football,” the shooting star continued. Müller’s team-mate Philipp Lahm described the new kit as “smart and classic, which I like a lot. I favour classic shirt designs. The shirt can inspire us to great things.”

Two variants

In common with the club’s current home and away shirt designs, the Champions League version also features the woven initials ‘FCB’, commemorating the club’s 100th anniversary this year, and derived from Bayern’s founding charter from the year 1900.

The design elements draw on the past, but the kit itself features state-of-the-art materials. Players can choose between a classic cut and a jersey boasting special body-fit properties. Thomas Müller has already settled on his favourite: “I’m staying with the tried and trusted,” said the top scorer at the World Cup, a fan of the more loose-fitting version.

Launch against Real Madrid

“In the past, we had only one shirt, and we used it for years at a time,” recalled chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge. During the chairman’s playing career, FCB won the European Champions’ Cup three times in a row from 1974 to 1976. “It's a new era now, but our policy has served us well and our fans like it too,” continued Rummenigge. In common with most top clubs, Bayern have offered a varying choice of kit designs for many years now.

“This is a very good-looking shirt in an attractive colour,” the chairman summarised. The new Champions League kit will be premiered in Friday’s Franz Beckenbauer farewell match, when Bayern meet Real Madrid at the Allianz Arena.

On sale Friday

Bayern fans keen to wish the team all the best for the new Champions League campaign can do so via Facebook. The 50 most creative messages will be printed on an outsized shirt, to be presented to Bayern as a good luck charm for the season.

The Champions League kit goes on sale this Friday from the official online shop, the club’s Fan Shops, and from retail outlets. In Germany, the shirts cost €69.95 (adult sizes S-XXXL) and €54.95 (kids and youths sizes 128-176).

Not a fan of the three stripes on the shoulder being broken into segments to make room for patches, but it's still a nice kit.

Well, a very nice kit...BUT the collar is ugly, and I don't like these broken stripes on the shoulders. But all in all quite nice.

The sequence of stripes is different in the photo with Mueller and the one laid out flat. Also they have moved slightly. Guess that's what you get when you outsource to the Far East.

Mexico's jersey had green and was far worse than this, you basically just said only one team is allowed to wear a black jersey. But I agree, Adidas is 2nd best behind Nike

Don't the stars look a little bit clumped together?

And did they only win their fourth championship now? I thought BM ruled Germany, but I guess not then...

The fourth star was added when Bayern won the Bundesliga for the 20th time. The system in Germany goes that you get a star when you win the league for the 3rd, 5th, 10th, 20th time and so on.

Great shirt. Wearing it right now; very nice colour scheme and 'FCB' lettering below the collar at the back.
