boca juniors 2010 nike 105th anniversary football shirt

Boca Juniors start the new year with a big celebration. Nike unveiled new Boca Juniors limited edition football kit, which celebrates the 105 years since the founding of the club

The year was 1905 when a group of Italian immigrants who were part of a football team in La Boca neighborhood, decided to found the club Boca Juniors, without suspecting that, over time, it would become one of the biggest clubs in Argentina .

The name was not something that was hard to define, from the beginning, all agreed to honour their neighbourhood. The choice of colours, however, was the subject of discussions that ended solved through choosing  the colours of the flag of the first ship that arrived at the port of La Boca, which was yellow and blue of the flag of Sweden.

To celebrate this 105th anniversary, Nike (Boca Juniors kit manufacturer since 1995) designed a football shirt, limited edition, which commemorates the Swedish flag that inspired the founders of the club. This game jersey has advanced technology, Dri-Fit, which significantly reduces the flow of body moisture.

Moreover, the limited edition has Dynamic 3D Fit and structures that make the garment have a better fit to the body and is ultra light. Also, the limited edition shirt features a numbered authenticity label and a side label, with the caption “Bostero desde 1905”. (Bostero since 1905).

Put swedens flag on a shirt and sell it...:sigh:

Good thinking Nike... although it does have a classy feel to it almost.

Awesome badge.

They could've placed the vertical stripe at an angle to avoid looking like the Swedish flag.

9/10

Very nice, though the LG typeface should be in Blue (though it is a lot smaller than the LG Logo on the Sao Paulo shirts, which are visible from space )

One question - “Bostero desde 1905” ? Is Bostero not the Argentine slang for "Shit"?

I know its one of the terms used by rival fans (owing to the smell of the nearby river) but it seems strange to put it on the shirt.

Yes it is, bostero means made of cow shit (bosta) but boca juniors fans love to call theme self like that. Funny right?

BOSTERO = DE LA BOSTA = BOSTA = MIERDA = SHIT = boca

Boca is not Sweden, is BOLIVIA + PARAGUAY

This is a great kit. I only wish that their sponsor, LG, would have allowed their logo to change to blue to match the shirt - just on this occasion.

I hope the fans at La Bombonera wave Swedish flags alongside their usual flags - which just have one yellow horizontal stripe - to commemorate their 105th anniversary.

Bostero come from "BOSTA" ( Crap, poh-poh, S*hit..). The term is from the zone in wich the BOMBONERA is placed, is near the "riachuelo", the most contaminated and ugly place of the city. The tourist came to this place for two reasons, the bombonera and the Caminito, a street with a lot of Tango feeling. The Boca Supporters ( almost the 50% of the population) seems to adopt the term only to not show that the term molest them...but nike...give me a break !! put it on the shirt...could put some of sweeden not an insult !!!

In argentina Only Boca and River have Great sponsorship (Nike against Adidas) , the rest of the teams have contrat with local brands ( Penalty, topper, Olimpicus) , middle-range brands ( diadora, lotto, mitre ) or just local bad-quality subsidiares of good marks who make local-cheap sutff paying the license..( Umbro & puma )

Team colors
The original jersey colour was pink, but this was quickly abandoned for thin black-and-white vertical stripes.[11] Legend has it that in 1906, Boca played another team that used this strip to decide who would get to keep it. Boca lost, and decided to adopt the colors of the flag of the first boat to sail into the port at La Boca. This proved to be the 4146 ton freighter "Drottning Sophia", a Swedish vessel sailing from Copenhagen.[12] As a result, the yellow and blue of the Swedish flag were adopted as the new team colours.[13] The first version had a yellow diagonal band, which was later changed to a horizontal stripe.[14]

Is Boca moving to Scandinavia? Or is it a play to lure Ibrahimovic away from Barca? The kit sucks.

Y a mí no me interesa en que cancha jugués

Desde el cielo te voy a alentar ♥♥♥

Wow, this is quite a departure! Overall I prefer the classic home shirt, but it's great how this pays homage to their Swedish origins. The crest is cool too.

The term "Bostero" is because when the italian people bought the place, the farm was full of Bosta, which means Horse's Shit. That's because is near the port.

Boca fans are called Los Bosteros as a term of abuse by rival fans , La Bombonera was built on the site of a brickworks, ,manure and straw were used to make the bricks, Boca fans are proud to be called shit clollectors as it's part of the clubs history.

Horrible looking kit. They spoiled it with the Sweden flag. Yes it's played a part in it's foundation, but they could at least have been a little more subtle with it.
