chelsea home kit 2010-11 adidas

Chelsea and adidas, revealed the new home kit for the 2010/11 season, which is available through the FSC Shop.

The launch will be supported by an advertising campaign 'Made from 100% Chelsea' developed by pop artist and Chelsea fan Sir Peter Blake.

Blake, who most famously designed the artwork for the Beatles album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band and Oasis' greatest hits album Stop the Clocks, has created a variety of montages depicting Chelsea's history and heritage.

The shirt will be worn for the first time on 9 May against Wigan in the last Barclays Premier League game of the season.

The kit encompasses a contemporary red v-neck design, while the main body of the shirt integrates mesh into the fabric creating a striking design with pure performance benefits for removing sweat away from the body.

This is not the first time red has featured on a Chelsea kit. In 1953, Chelsea re-launched the official club badge and for the first time featured red. By 1959, red was introduced into the kit socks, and the colour has continued to feature in numerous home and away kits in subsequent decades.

The subtle addition of red also pays tribute to the club's long association with the Pensioners, the red-coated war veterans whose name they informally adopted between 1905 and 1952.

Adidas again have pushed the boundaries in the development of apparel technology to help give Chelsea players the edge on the pitch. For the first time in club football, adidas TechFit™ features directly in the playing shirt.

This cutting-edge technology will help improve speed, increase endurance capabilities and enhance proprioception. This works by stabilising and focusing the muscles' energy to generate explosive acceleration and deliver maximum power output.

TechFit™ technology is only incorporated into the Chelsea FC team kit, and is not in the replica kit. Fans will be able to buy the replica kit featuring adidasClimaCool™ technology.

I thought it looked okay in the leaked pictures but now that I see it in detail I think it is horrible. Sure it looks good from a distance but in the flesh you will look silly wearing this. The strange patterns in the fabric are not nice at all.

My thoughts exactly! Has a huge Japan feel to it. In fact, looks just like one of their home jerseys a few years ago...but that said, its still a very smart jersey - a huge improvement on the 'bicycle racing jersey' for this season. Very nice - well done!

Chelsea's first captain was a Scot, on one tour I was told that he chose blue as Chelsea's colours. On a subsequent visit I was told it was Vicount Chelsea's colours.

Adidas just make it up as they go alone, There is a limit to the sensible designs for blue shirts with white lines down the sleeves. Red bits gets media attention, so we get red bits.

Adidas release 100's of new shirts every season, so designs have to be quick and based on templates.

Spurs and Liverpool will no doubt have similar templates.

Super Frank is modeling the ClimaCool version of the kit which will be for the fans.

Bit of a stretch but I think the Scottish international cap may be a nod to Tommy Docherty-the manager who tweaked Chelsea's kit to the famous blue shirt, blue shorts and white sock combination they have been synonymous with since the mid 1960s.

At least that's my guess.

It's ok, nothing special really. Goalkeeper kit's hideous though! Don't suppose Cech's claimed it puts off strikers yet like he did with the orange one?
Reply | Reply with quote | Quote

that may actually work, since the strikers would want to look away from chech and the goal to avoid seeing the ugly kit.

I think it looks super awesome. An evolution from the 06/08 kit which I absolutely love.

The red strip was a bit surprising, though I thought it'd fit more with yellow, but red looks good anyhow.

And lastly... sponsor's logo is placed too high. not good...

It's a definite buy. Hope they'll also make the away kit like Petr Cech's lime green colour. :) :) :)

i dont understand why people shoot down the last two kits, i thought they were amazing along with this one. the detail on this one is stylish also. I have the last two, and the material and feel of them is great. You have to own it to understand it. Chelsea are one of the few teams to have consequetive good kits. Man Utd's kits this season was with the black collar, cant wait for the new one.

Doesn't it seem to bother anyone that this kit with so many others out there are just a regular adidas jersey or shorts with a crest on them. Take off the crest on so many of these jerseys from Nike to adidas whatever and they're just that, nothing special at all. And people still pay full price for them? This is getting ridiculous. At least jerseys from the past had something special in them that you wouldn't find on a regular jersey in the store. Think of the Man utd away grey from 1995-96 or the 1995-97 3rd. kit . The grey, hideous for sure and i'm a man u fan but, you would find a copy of that without the crest in a store. Any of the old Chelsea jerseys too, from the autoglass yellow of 1997-98 to the also hideous grey Chelsea of 1994-96 away. At least you would never see them in the store looking like just another nike jersey or adidas.
