Club Universitario 2010 umbro football kits

Club Universitario de Deportes, also known as Universitario unveiled the new 2010 ' Tailored ' home and away  football kits made by Umbro.

Universitario's colours are cream (crema in Spanish), red, burgundy (guinda in Spanish), and black. When playing a home game they use the cream-colored kit with black socks and when playing away they use the burgundy-colored kit with black socks.

The club's colours at first were not cream. They started out with a white kit which had the badge on the chest. During one of their early seasons, Universitario could not participate in an upcoming match because their uniforms had been sent to the laundry to be washed. The managers pleaded that they hurry with the laundry and they quickly washed them. However, when the club received the jerseys, they found that they were no longer white, but cream.

The laundry workers had forgotten to remove the badges from the jerseys and consequently the red color from the badges mixed with the white jerseys giving it a yellow tint. The club had no choice but to use the jersey to play. They managed to win that game and a few others as well and thus the club kept the new-coloured kit as a good-luck charm.

The badge is a red U inside a red circle drawn by Luis Malaga, one of the founders of the club.

Thanks to Eric

Well, itll be as simple as that, but the cut will vary a little bit, and of course the red will be lighter.

You can check the sneak peaks:
http://img94.imageshack.us/img94/7809/englandzoom.jpg

and compare it to the version that leaked here a while ago:
http://todosobrecamisetas.blogspot.com/2009/12/posible-nueva-camiseta-de-visita-umbro.html

Notice the similarities in the cut? Id say it'll be pretty close to that...

nice kit but it will soon be ruined by a bunch of sponsors on the kit. so in the end excpect it to be ruind but the kit as it is now is wonderful. though the white one with the vertical seams looks uncomfortable. but nice kit. 5/5

This is an awesome kit. It's an instant classic. This is the essence of a real football shirt, not the new kits with ridiculous template designs on them and full of sponsors. Well done Umbro, now you are my favorite kit brand now.

does this mean lesser known umbro-sponsored teams will have the 'tailored by' shirts?

i hope rangers do anyway, those kits look and feel amazing

Quoting Sirscottofb:

the only teams umbro felt were prestigous enough to use tailored kits are england and man city, rangers got normal designs similar to birmingham/west brom. as im sure you will be aware. draw your own conclusions, thanks.

As has been mentioned many times before, City got the new "tailored" designs because they only took on a contract with Umbro in the summer - after Umbro's rebranding.

All other teams had their kits for the current season designed prior to the "tailored" stuff. That is why they all have the older elongated Umbro logos on them. It has nothing to do with team prestige or anything else other than timing. This comes direct from the people on the Umbro blog, by the way.

Love these new Umbro kits though - everything stripped back to the essentials. I wish United were with them instead of Nike.

In spite of that explanation, it remains undeniable that Universitario are a far more prestigious club than Rangers, and I for one am delighted that at last they have a kit which is both magnificently beautiful and does their timeless emblem justice.

How can this be called "designing"? I mean it doesn't look bad but it's literally just a cream colored shirt with a U on it. Wow...

Because they are smart enough to know that less is more. Plus, the materials, colours and small details (collar, seams, etc) are nicely done. Design is more than just painting lines on a shirt.

so hold on a second
when umbro put a U on an england top it is a masterpiece
but when nike put the holland colours on a man united shirt they are idiots?
you get some real tossers in the world

That away colour is la U's traditional away. Plus England's red would be a different shade of red

yeah cos obviously the tailoring in umbro shirts are real good and feel nice epople want umbro designed shirts cos they have a nice feel and the tailoring is tip top .. the previous holland kit with red whit e and blue on colla was nice .. but like people say.. less is more .. and the materials and colours ... umbro is the only pure english football company now .. this part of umbro is pure english .. hence the Tailored By England Brand or tailored by umbro lol ...

Simple is sometimes the best.

The tailored stuff came to late for 2009-10 designs as someone has already pointed out and I would think that most of the Umbro contracted teams in the UK would be getting the same look. If so I am really looking forward to the kit designs. The colour on the away strip here is gorgeous.

The tailored stuff is more likely to happen with the UK teams as we already know that the stable of Umbro teams in the UK will decrease next season as Birmingham and West Ham have gone elsewhere.

If West Brom continue to not have a sponsor next season I think theirs will look stunning
