Legal people at Nike have registered photos of all national team shirts sponsored by Nike as a ‘registered design’ at the European Design Office.

Intellectual property specialist Diederik Stols explains: “It is logical that sports companies around the world register just about anything in an attempt to monopolize the market for national shirts. Nike did just that. But they should better have registered the designs one day before the official presentation, because the designs are now publicly accessible via the Internet. This time around, Nike has leaked its own shirts”
