Seven months prior to the opening game of the 2010 FIFA World Cup, adidas and the DFB presented the brand new 10/12 home kit made by Adidas, which will be available through the FSC Shop.

The jersey in traditional white, for the first time including three stripes in black, gold and red on the sleeve , was introduced during an event in Herzogenaurach, the home of DFB equipment supplier adidas. DFB coach Joachim Löw, Captain Michael Ballack, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Philipp Lahm, Per Mertesacker and Franz Beckenbauer unveiled the jersey to the public.

“The new jersey gives us an extra spark for the upcoming preparation for the 2010 World Cup”, said Ballack.

“Adidas is the number one brand in football, a fact underlined by today’s presentation of the German jersey and the corresponding communication”, said Erich Stamminger from the adidas Group.

Innovative online gaming completes the new jersey’s introduction to the general public. Modern day’s actual players become the protagonist’s of German World Cup history, as fans have the opportunity to replay the 1954, 1974 and 1990 finals, and win tickets for South Africa along the way. The jersey’s are available in all Karstadt sports stores, the official retail partner of the DFB. Starting Friday, the jersey can be ordered through the FSC Shop.

It looks very much like the Euro 96 shirt, as I said when the leaked images came to this site. Supposedly, Gold is the official colour which should be used on the flag too, although it's usually yellow that appears instead.

I couldn't believe it when I read it myself. I was coming home from work and wanted to check the football report before heading to bed and I actually was so shocked I couldn't sleep for an hour or so. I was a fan of Enke and hoped to see him show up as the #1 for Germany in South Africa.

RIP

Beat that Nike!

Hamburg - Germany goalkeeper Robert Enke has died, the president of his Bundesliga club Hanover 96 Martin Kind announced on Tuesday. No reasons for the death of the 32-year-old have been given.

"It is a tragedy," Kind said.

Kind was returning from a meeting of the German football association (DFB) on Tuesday when he received the shocking phone call. "You expect many things, but not something like that.

"I do not know how and why it happened, but I do not think that it had anything to do with football," he said.

Enke, who had become Germany's number one goalkeeper after Jens Lehmann retired at the end of last year's Euro championships, had to miss Germany's last four internationals with a bacterial bowel infection, but had just returned to the game again and had played in Hanover's 2-2 draw against SV Hamburg on the weekend.

He had not been selected for Germany's two international matches against Chile and the Ivory Coast on November 14 and November 18, but Germany coach Joachim Loew had indicated that Enke still was favourite to be Germany's first choice goalkeeper at the World Cup finals in South Africa next year.

Enke played eight times for his country.

Enke's two-year-old daughter Lara died two years ago from a heart defect.

I didn't like it from a distance, but once I saw the close-ups...beautiful. After this and Argentina, I really think adidas have done well for the World Cup. I just hope Spain's isn't like the supposedly leaked one, because that was crap.

And here's hoping Nike don't screw USA over with another crap shirt.

Superb kit. The only thing I don't understand is why the gold trim on the collar is not full round the collar but broken in the middle.
Apart from that, great shirt, & awful news for Enke...

So many enthusiastic comments....
bah!

I really don't like it.
What's this? Nothing special

The gold trims clash with the flag's yellow of the 3 pinstripes coming down on the right.

And what's that black and golden badge?!?
Bring back the glorious old pure one!

R.I.P. ENKE

The German flag is actually described as schwarz-rot-gelb black-red-gold, so that is where it comes from.

I think it's really nice too, the right amount of classic mixed with modern.

RIP Enke auch

what I meant is that using the yellow for the pinstripe and the gold for the collar, the crest and other details doesn't look good.

Anyway looking better, seems that the pinstripe too in golden...
so what I wrote about it has no sense.

But I still don't like the shirt!

what are you talking about, out of all ADIDAS kits, Germany's one is the least loudest kit. I congratulate it as being more plain compared to other national team kits. Just look at Mexico's jersey and you'd much prefer the German template over Mexicos template.

@curswine: The flag is not described as "schwarz-rot-gelb" (black-red-yellow), but "schwarz-rot-gold" (black-red-gold).

Nice shirt, even though I tend to prefer Nike jerseys.

I can only guess that this is the replica Formotion / ClimaCool version the players are modelling - the players' Techfit version will be much more fitted - like the new Mexico and Japanese kits.
