germany world cup 2010 adidas kit

The DFB officially unveiled the new Germany 10/12 Away Kit made by Adidas, which will be available through the FSC Shop.

The adidas designers got their inspiration for the black shirt from the first unofficial international match, known as "Ur-match". On 12 December 1898 - before the founding of the DFB, a German team played in Paris against the White Rovers Club.

The Germans won this game 7:0 wearing a black shirt. The Emperor was informed of the triumph by telegram.

The new away kit will be worn for the first time in the friendly match against Argentina on 3 March. )

The away shirt is a available  from 3 March (EUR 54.95 child size, 69,95 euros adults).

Why didn't adidas just pull out a renewed green jersey? Instead they're bringing the black back in...sorry adidas, but you missed a great opportunity!

They lost a chance to bring the green shirt back and do a great one...

As for the black one: I like it. It's simple, stylish and.. not green.

I agree! I'm from germany and I really don't want to have green jerseys...

of course, this one's a bit boring, but black and white are the prussian colours, as used for the home jersey. so I guess it makes sense.

Black and red are colors used by a unified Germany. Green was a useful "neutral" color for post-war West Germany, which was consciously downplaying nationalism. Now that German nationalism seems to have exorcised the demons of its past to become as "positive" as anyone else's nationalism, it's appropriate once again for German teams to wear black and red.

i was gonna say the green jersey was a classic and should be brought back... but after this explanation i understand why the change was made and why green should stay retired.

I always liked the green shirt because of its mysterious nature. Everyone always asked themselves why Germany would wear a green shirt. It stood out and represented the glory days of German football (remember the penalty kicks victory over England in 1990?).

I mean is it a coincidence that Germany has won 0 titles since it dropped the green shirt?

We stopped with the green shirt after the shame of Munich in 2001. Red or black is much better for us now.

In my opinion Germany's past two red away kits have looked great and had something different about them but still looked German.

This doesn't do it for me, it's better than their last black kit, which looked dire, but it's just a little too plain. Although I'll wait for better pictures to properly make my mind up.

Uh, they're gonna wear black under the South African sun, in the summer? That's insane. For all the hype adidas, and the other kit manufacturers, throw up around their gimmick-y "technologies," like TechFit, ClimaCool, etc., etc., one real thing they could do is avoid dressing the players in dark colors under the sun. ...Just insane.

stupid! when we have summer on the nothern part of the earthball the southern countries lower the equator have winter!!!! so at the wc in south africa there only will be 10 to 15° it's winter.
I also would like a green away kit, beacuse it remembers us at the glory years in the past

The green some peolpe are mentioning, was the 2nd color for about 50 years. They were chosen because DFB(german federation)has GREEN as their color! The reason for that is, that the DFB was founded in Leipzig and chose the color of a popular Leipziger football club as reference.

Although there are always people crying for GREEN shirts, they are a minority as Sale records till 2000 proof. Hardly anybody bought them, so please bear with the DFB they chose a color like RED or BLACK and have people buying them in masses. The recent away shirts 2006 and 2008 were absolute topseller, so quite understandable they dont return to green.

I personally greet that and have a classy/stylish shirt instead of being too nostalgic and connect the success of the past to the color of theire away shirt.

Overall, both the home and away will be among the nicest kits of the WC. Would have preferred a dark red away shirt with black/white trim (the gold is simply a current fad), but both kits have a strong and simple elegance to them; very German. I think that any combination of red and black (and white) should remain the permanent away colours, intermittently using either as the base.

Well i do appreciate a healthy style of rivalism, focused and based on football results. But again, Daily Star ( a paper that makes the BILD ZEITUNG look like the Times)tries to serve some ancient fears and predjudices. Am sure that they do represent a small minority and people, don´t forget:

The history of the green shirt (as i read in webpage related to the histiry of rare football kits) is that after thw world war II no one wanted to play against the germans...

Finally it was Ireland who decided to play a game with them.. Since that day the German football federation promised to thanks Irish's wearing a green shirt-white shorts as the home Irish kit.

¿How many time? for, at least 50 years... thats why they changed back to black/red away shirts.

The black is sick. I just wish the whole kit was black away. Reminds me of the New Zealand rugby team.

this is the coolest kit for the world cup so far. from what i'm seeing from nike and puma, this may will be the best shirt in afrika 2010. i'm not a gremany fan, and i will definately buy this one.

Why does a lot of people love when something is black?

I mean. If you make a poll about wich is the coolest car color im sure black will win. That's censoreding boring!

What is special about this shirt? Its just... black! As the the Mexico away. Its just a black shirt!

Green was special, I dont know why. But was legendary.

well from my opinion, it's the design. its not the colour, its the design. It's simple, can be bland to other people, but the logo is enough for it not to be bland.

Finally!, a black shirt!
I think it looks great, very sharp and conservative, no pansy designs, and the color has nothing to do with the nazis, black has always been Germany's primary color since the times of the Prussians.

I feel Germany have the two best kits in the latest "Adidas template hell" stakes. Which makes sense really. Also the day Germany gets rid of Adidas is the day Bukta buyout Nike.....

it is not that bad, the squad look great in the kit, for once Philipp Lahm looks gruff (maybe it has to do with the beard he had against Argentina) i reckon they look the best compared to all the jerseys.
