New England 10/12 Away Shirt Update

E-mail

england-1966-umbro.jpg

According to sources close to the project, the new England 10/12 away kit made by Umbro will be almost identical to the one worn by the World Cup winners in 1966.

The new England 2010/2012 away kit will be unveiled in March 2010.

The tailored shirts, made by Umbro, will be entirely red with no other colour trimmings apart from a white three Lions England emblem on the chest.

The new top will have a slight V-neck whereas the original 1966 shirts(seen on the right) were crew neck.

The shorts will be all-white, just like Umbro's 1966 England kit.

It is expected the kit will cost around £40-£45 for a shirt and £20-£25 for shorts.

I like to see all these retro shirts, nothing better honouring past successes and looking forward to new ones with a classic shirt!

Can\'t wait until Ireland gets their tailored shirt!

I\'m relieved this is England and not New England.(MLS).The title fooled me. I\'m American and I hate the MLS. Crap league.

You\'re a faggot. Support what you\'ve got and maybe we\'ll be better one day. The Premier league wasn\'t built in a day, it took over 100 years for the First Division to become what it is today.

I bet you support England over the US team as well (and have no English blood whatsoever), you eurosnob mother****er. Go sod yourself.

Yet you care enough to let your pointless opinion be known, didn\'t you, dip****?

As far as THE TOPIC goes, I look forward to it. I think the current home kit is pure class.

I could have told you this months ago with no inside info from Umbro whatsoever, purely because after seeing the home it\'s the worst kept secret in the kitosphere right now.

Although you would think by now England have learned that dwelling on 1966 has held them back for over 40 years...

If you look at the Umbro Ireland interview on this website, it says we will be getting tailored shirts for the 2010 World Cup WHEN we qualify

Why does it allways have to be red. Im sick and tired of the kit being reminiscent of the 1966 kit....

Have navy, grey, yellow, light blue...... Create a new history not constantly re-creating the old !!

Here\'s your answer. The 1996 away kit that got savaged by the press and the supporters were not that keen on it either. Chances are England will never have another away kit that isn\'t red.

Good news, but I don\'t understand why England home&away kits are not launched at the same time. Now we have the brilliant taylored home shirt with the ugly and old away kit, not taylored.

As long as it\'s not Graham Taylored!

If they launched a home and an away at the same time, most people would only buy one or another, then there\'d be a year with no new kit were sales would be down. If there\'s a single new kit every year, home in odd-numbered years and away in even-numbered, they sell more.

Umbro\'s designs were becoming a bit tacky & naff but the current home strip is a work of art - although I wish they wore it with the plain navy shorts. This red away sounds superb, simple & easily recognised the world over as ENGLAND!!!

Hold your horses here... I don\'t like the sound of a \"slight V-neck\" and no umbro double diamonds..?

I wouldn\'t mind if it had the same colar as the City dark shirt.

Oh and Jimbo... very good mate,

Perhaps a navy away kit could be considered at some stage? With either a v-neck collar or a grandad collar like the one on the black City away shirt.

One change I would like to see is England away kits lasting for either 3 or 4 years. That might sound silly to some, but typically England away kits are used so infrequently over a 2-year cycle in comparison to the home that it makes sense for them to be used for longer. If the design is good enough then sales might be increased also. Away kits being worn 6 or 7 times by the national team is hardly enough to justify fans buying them.

I am sure that Umbro will include their diamond motif. Being the FIFA World Cup, they would want maximum exposure.

I wonder if Umbro would consider bringing back the Airtex shirts after the tailored jobs

It seems like Umbro is out of ideas. They\'ve been going back to previous kits recently.

Yes they can say they\'re going back to the roots for inspiration but I think that\'s a whole load of \'stuff\'. Come on, Umbro used to make lovely kits with superb designs a few seasons ago with the diamond patterns. Now it seems like they\'re just doing a football shirt version of \"pimp my ride\".

Got to admit I\'m not a huge fan of Umbro EXCEPT when they design England unis. I look forward to seeing this Red Kit. It\'s got to be tough living in England. This announcement won\'t be *official* until March 2010 and already the English press is trying to create a story?

I think it's a disgrace they are charging use so much for what is primarily regurgitated polo's with a badge on it...addidas and puma are getting all sorts of sick kits that are modern! and we have to keep bloody reminiscing in our past!
THAT IS WHY WE WON'T WIN ANYTHING BECAUSE WE AREN'T LOOKING FORWARD!

bring out something unique! not something beige/bland/boring

i like it. the whole white kit looks very smart and i think this will be the same.

at those saying england won't win anything because they're using a retro shirt - get over yourselves!! what has the shirt got to do with the team on the park? nothing! that's what.

have a nice day

Are national teams required to have three kits like teams playing in the Champions League have to? If so, I'd like to see a navy England kit or if we're staying retro, the sky blue one they wore in Mexico (I think!)

Being a representative of this website and www.designfootball.com, I was able to see the new kit in all of its glory yesterday in Manchester. It is a great looking shirt and I am sure the majority of people will feel the same way.

Unfortunately I am not allowed to give out details on how exactly the shirt looks until it is publicly released.

Why do england have a red away kit?

because the english flag is red and white!!! simple is as simple does!

wear blue on the home shorts (usually) because of the three lions and nothing more..

this isnt the top,
after recently going on the wembly tour in london, i know the facts of the new shirt after seeing it 1st person.
its all red, with still the umbro logo in white, the england badge without the ENGLAND over the top, same material as the home top, with the cotton feel, bar the sleeves which are more traditional material, white font for numbers and names, and the feature of the shirt, white cuffs, at the end of the sleeve, the shorts are white with a red strip down the side and reed logos, heres the top:

I personally think its the nicest shirt umbro have ever made
