Plymouth Argyle 10/11 Adidas Home Kit

Here is the new Plymouth Argyle kit for the 2010/11 N-Power League One season manufactured by Adidas.

The Devon club were recently relegated from the English Championship (2nd Tier), after spending the last 5 years in the division. Now they look to try and make a return under the guidance of former Sunderland, Leeds and Coventry manager, Peter Reid.

The home shirt uses Adidas' 'Stricon' template with two-tones of green stripes on the shirt. The shirt is accompanied by white shorts and socks also from Adidas' Stricon collection. The goalkeeping kit is bright yellow and in the same style as nearly all other Adidas goalkeepeing uniforms.

Plymouth's away kit will remain the same for the new season.

Cornish supporters are being given a special opportunity to buy their kit at Truro City Football Club, where we will have a dedicated retail unit running from 9am ahead of our game at Treyew Road, which kicks-off at 3pm.

This is the worst kit we've ever had. I dislike that template anyway but in two fairly unpleasant shades of green it is really, really bad. Two shades of green just doesn't look right for an Argyle shirt either, it should be solid green with either white or black trim, not two odd shades of green, I absolutely despise it, it's vile.

Perhaps it's not as bad as all that. It looks awful in the picture on the right because of the glare from the flash, it's not so terrible in the one on the left.

The shoulders look like 80s shoulder pads.

Once I've seen the real thing I may come to hate the design slightly less, perhaps the colours aren't quite as bad as they look in the photos but it'll never look like a proper Argyle shirt should, it's just wrong. We shouldn't be wearing two shades of green, no matter how nice or not they may be.

Would it have killed them to line up the crest with the stripe? I copped that in the first seconds of seeing that,so you'd think professional designers who are paid to give meticulous attention to fine details would have given it a second look.

As for the shirt itself, why have one shade of green when you can three? Patchy and cheap looking. A major shame, given that Plymouth have had some great kits in the past.

We've had stripes before, both green and white and green and black, either of which would be infinitely better than this hideous mess.

Do you really expect adi to waste their time making an amazing kit for a League 1 team?

No, I expect my club to not think that stripes in two shades of green is a good idea. There are a couple of decent, non striped Adidas templates we could have used, the shirt would have looked better and much more like an Argyle shirt should.

Up close in the first image, the home kit looks decent. Once you see it on the players though, it looks poor. The keeper kits are nice though.

I can imagine the discussion between Adidas and Plymouth.

"Here's the shirt for next season"

"Oh. It'd be alright if we lose the stripes yeah?"

"But the stripes are part of the template."

"Yeah, but for this one, can you just not have stripes?"

"The template comes with stripes though."

"I know, but can yo just change the template for this one?"

*Head explodes*

geez adidas have really censoreded up the templates this season.
Chelsea and Liverpool's kits are just about the only ones that they have gotten right, and Liverpool's home kit is veering toward the dodgy side of things and i am a proud Reds fan. Poor form adidas..

Not very good

Plymouth are not contracted to adidas, they struck a deal through an intermediary to wear adidas kit. Adidas won't have any dealings diretcly with Plymouth, that's why they've ended up with teamwear with added stuck-on club badge and sponsor logo (probably stuck-on by club shop staff)

D'oh, what I mean to say was that adidas don't make Plymouth's kit, but Plymouth are allowed to wear adidas kit.

I have no problem with the 'sponsor' - never have done. I have a problem with the diabolical shade of green we've been wearing for almost 10 years now.
And just when I thought it couldn't get any worse, we have this striped monstrosity to put up with.
Truly awful...

We wore it it when worn with green shorts and socks instead of white against Torquay tonight, it's still a bad kit but it looks so much better that way, I wish we could use them permanently.
