ive lost all respect for puma now..they are really overdoiing it..they're giving every single non african team the same exact template..and people say nike and adidas hav no imagination...wel at least they have many templates..apparently puma only have one except for the african teams

I agree.

Almost all national teams worned by Puma have a white and or red shirt. In this way, the brand should use more elements to make difference between these teams, like more intelligent watermarks, ranges, stripes, sleeves colours changes etc, as done by Adidas, Nike and the Puma itself with the african teams kits.
The Puma's big deal here is want only change colours of some few details around the shirt and the crest. This standardization level for this year gets to be annoying.

I completely agree with you. PUMA shirt with the exception of the African teams everybody has the same style. At least Italy should have a different style.

I don't really understand what Puma are up to with Africa right now. Maybe someone can enlighten us.

They really are VERY pro-Africa right now. Have you noticed the logo on the boardings of Puma's unveiling of the Italy away shirt:

Why are the logos for Italy but with a map of Africa next to them??

It might make sense if Puma were a flagship African company, but they're German.

What's this all about?

Could be do do with the World Cup in Africa but I agree it is a bit odd. Companies make money on the back of replica sales but in Africa people can't afford replica shirts so I don't really get it myself.
The more I see the shirt the more that collar annoys me !

It's a marketing strategy. I think they want to attach the brand's mark to the continent, saying something like "Puma is the official sponsor, partner of the african football".

That is part of the problem, the teams from the middle east regions sell hardly any replicas. This means that while Puma want to use them for publicity they know that they will not make any money, so they try and do it as cheaply as possible. The result is that everybody gets the same basic shirt.

Not bad, but that green tone is different of that one used on away shirt.

The reason why Puma are Pro-Africa at present is two fold:

1: The World Cup is in Africa
2: They 'own' Africa is terms of high profile team sponsorships

Puma as a brand have always put energy into African Teams way back since the partnership with Cameroon in 1990 began, they have invested into Teams and grass roots within Africa whilst other brands had no interest due to the low Replica sales, so from me a thumbs up for the work Puma do within the Arfican Continent.

Granted they are 'Big' but for what reason? South Africa are high profile now, but that's just because they are hosts and Nigeria.....

No African Team has ever won the WC so look at African Cup of Nations Winners:

Egypt: 7
Ghana: 4
Cameroon: 4
Ivory Coast: 1
Algeria: 1
Tunisia: 1
Morocco: 1

Nigeria: 2
South Africa: 1

If you take the 'Big 3' Puma Teams, that's 15 wins vs 3..

Granted the 15 titles didn't all arrive whilst being Puma Teams, but in terms of prestiege you have to admit that Puma are probably the Brand when it comes to modern day African Football?

Ooppss - sorry my typo!! 97/98 is correct.

Don't alot of teams both nationally and at club level buy the shirt from Puma instead of getting them made for them?

If so then this explains alot of the same temp;ates being used.
