Scunthorpe United 10-11 home nike shirt

The Scunthorpe Telegraph revealed the new Scunthorpe United home shirt made by Nike for the 2010/11 season.

The design, a retro effort in the club's traditional claret and blue, will be available from July.

For the first-time ever, it will be produced by Nike – one of two major contracts United have signed with the sportswear giant.

The second deal sees United handing over the club shop to Nike from the start of next season. Both deals are for three years.

The club's commercial manager Michelle Harness said: "Supporters want to see their team in a top-brand shirt and I hope that is what I am delivering.

"In terms of the shop, Nike has larger resources and budget to stock that with a bigger range, so, hopefully, the public is going to be able to get the products they want."

Previously, Iron shirts have been supplied by Carlotti, but the new deal will start in the summer.

A new away shirt, to replace the current blue-striped kit, is due to be launched in June.

This is just pure pants-ness. They got the same deal as Fulham, Palace, Notts County etc.

What makes it funny though is that it is the same template as option 2 for York City FC

Haha, no supporter wants a "top-brand" if the shirt looks quite bad.
A top-brand is a manufactor who creates good designs and not who earn the most money.

Agree with you, id rather have a boring shirt but play in the championship than to be stuck in League 2 for ever and ever.

Our new kit (imps that is) could well be a knock off sunderland shirt....then where will we be??
Still stuck in league 2 while looking like a team who wants to be as popular as newcastle utd!!

The flipside is you Scunny fans will be able to get some wicked training tops / leaisure polo shirts etc....the Nike apparel range is awesome!

That cartoon guy looks pretty happy about the shirt.
Not sure what it is with English clubs having raging boners for claret shirts with blue sleeves. It's a great color combination, but not when every team wears it.

I was going to say something similar. I don't see how fans can complain about being Aston Villa knock-offs when the colors and club template (traditionally Claret body with Carolina Blue sleeves) is the same as Burnely, Aston Villa, West Ham, and I'm sure I'm missing many others.

Everyone is correct that it looks like Villa, but that's a color choice and placement thing, not a Nike template thing.

Nike templates are ok if they keep updating them each year. This (along with the York kits) is 1 or 2 years old now, it just seems lazy by nike.

The template may be old, but it fits the colours nicely. More so than the York City colours we saw earlier. This gets my approval, but I would have liked to have seen perhaps a white stitched outline to the badge. Claret on claret doesn't show up that well.

Nike should really stop using this incredibly generic template.
Don't get me wrong; this kit doesn't look bad at all, but the fact remains that this is an overused template.
Next to that: this template is more than a year old.
C'mon, Nike; you can do better than this.
Every club deserves to have an unique shirt and you shouldn't pay attention to the biggest sites that are sponsored by you.
Just because they don't play in the PL doesn't have to mean that you don't have to pay any effort on designing something cool and unique.
I honestly think that Scensoredhorpe were better off with Carlotti and that sure says a lot

On the temnplate side I just remembered...the kit is supplied by ProClub, not Nike (kind of). ProClub are part of Nike, like a reseller. It is ProClub that run the shop as well.

Still, if they had waited for a month they might have got one of Nike's new templates for 10/11, thats if can engage the brain cell and come up with some

Another insult from Nike passed off by a naiive commercial manager as a deal with Nike themselves. Its a shit old template which you got on the cheap from a reseller. Nike wouldn't deal with Scensoredhorpe..get real.
If the fans fall for this nonsense then they only have themselves to blame...still at least they got rid of Carlotti !

Scunny signed a deal with Nike? Terrible Nike kit, have they got so bored that allthey bother doing is recycle 1 of this seasons designs and give it 2 a smaler club or r they taking advantage that Scunny is a smaller club than the "mighty" Villa so therefore they dont have 2 take their kit as seriously.

If you look at some of the old kits for example 1982/83 it proves its no retro effort, just nikes typical cba effort + the away shirt is apparently going to be the Celtic 09/10 one at least carlotti could thow togther a unique effort!

Not sure what you're all talking about. Scensoredhorpe haven't signed a deal with Nike, the kits are supplied out of a catologue from an outside retailer liscensed to sell Nike stuff.

Hence the generic template.

Scunny (ha filter!) have had problems with quality & supply from small brands who can give them a custom designed kit.

The club are giving the fans what the fans think they want - a big name label. Unfortunately this seems to be the only claret & blue item in the Nike templates which is a shame. They'll probably appeal to the young (chavs) and to the (older) traditionalists though. We should be lucky we're not going back to white shirts for no apparent reason again.

It's not only Villa who have used that design historically: http://www.historicalkits.co.uk/Scensoredhorpe_United/S[REPLACE]horpe_United.htm

Who cares if its an aston villa knock off it does the club proud - quoting NA "we are a big fish in a huge pond and have done brilliant to stay up" so about time we got some recongission by big brands
