On the 49th floor of the tallest building in the country , Universidad de Chile held an event to officially launch the new 10/11 home and away football kits made by Adidas.
The team's home kit from 1943 to 1958 consisted of a blue jersey, a white short and blue socks. In 1959, the home kit was changed to an all royal blue kit. In 1992 a darker tone of blue was used for the home kit and in 1996 a red stripe was added to the sleeves.

From 1934 until 2001–2002, Universidad de Chile's away kit consisted of a white jersey, shorts and socks, occasionally using blue shorts during the 1990s. In 2001–2002, for the first time in the club's history a red kit was introduced; this kit consisted of a red jersey with dark blue sleeves, red shorts and red socks. In 2005, the club introduced a new all-red away kit, thereby dropping the blue sleeves in favor of red ones.
Thanks to Chile

Quoting Seedy Loner:
En America todos los clubes tienen muchos auspiciadores
en su uniforme, LA UDECHILE tiene uno de los uniformes mas limpios en ese sentido, es cosa de ver lso uniformes Brasileños, Mexicanos, etc..

But even the blue kit is nice, with its design and red details (much better than the shirt Adidas gave Chelsea). One curious question: why are the kits Adidas gives to south american clubs (such as Universidad de Chile and Palmeiras) much nicer than the kits Adidas gives to any european club?
Not sure, but I think it might be due to supporters in South America (Income, more matches to attend, might not be able to spend so much money on shirts, and therefore there is more incentive to get it right and make a good shirt that your average supporter will want to buy and cherish. Plus this shirt will be worn for two seasons (or four - Clausura apertura)
On the shirts, Universidad de Chile are supported all over Chile and are more Wroking class supported, while their rivals U Catolica are more Middle and upper class followed. Palmeiras are also followed by working class in the state of Sao Paulo, though River Plate and Fluminense (who have been given outstanding kits by adidas) are traditionally the teams of the rich in Buenos Aires and Rio respectively, so I dont know if the less disposable income = better kits from companies holds water all the time. Just an idea.
Its not just adidas though. Lotto make much better kits for south american teams than european teams.
