France 2011/12 Nike Home Football Kit

france 11-12 nike home football shirt

Nike announced its partnership with the French Football Federation today at the Espace Cambon, unveiling the new team kits with French players Abou Diaby, Alou Diarra, Florent Malouda and Yann MVila, France Coach Laurent Blanc and NIKE, Inc. President and CEO, Mark Parker.

The elegantly designed kits combine French style and tradition with Nike product innovation to deliver a distinctive kit engineered to maximize performance and minimize environmental impact, and will be available here.

"France is one of the most successful and well known teams in the world and we look forward to delivering innovative products to help them perform on the pitch," said Mark Parker, NIKE, Inc. President and CEO.

"This is a significant moment for Nike Football and we are proud to be the official partner of the French Federation and to be part of the future of French football."

The kit design adheres to the tradition and standards of French style and design excellence while enabling players to perform at their best every time they pull on the famous French shirt.

France Coach Laurent Blanc commented: *"This jersey represents the spirit of French elegance, something recognized all over the world. The true collar, the new blue, the addition of the red really enhance the new kit. It goes well with the philosophy I want to create: creativity, humbleness and ambition." france 11-12 nike home football shirt

The innovative, lightweight, technical design and features Nike Dri-FIT technology and engineered ventilation systems to help keep players cool, coupled with ergonomic fit and soft cotton feel for player comfort.

The kit embraces Nike's considered design approach and is Nike*s most environmentally sustainable kit to date, with shirt and shorts made from a microfibre polyester that is derived entirely from recycled plastic bottles. For the shirt, this material is combined with organic cotton (96% recycled polyester, 4% organic cotton)

In addition to the on-pitch kit, Nike also unveiled a broader range of FFF-branded Nike Sportswear products designed for fans off the field of play.

One detail of the new France kit is the message "Nos Differences Nous Unissent" (our differences unite us) printed behind the FFF badge over the players' hearts. Nike has a history of using sport to play a positive role in breaking down prejudice and helping people reach their full potential. Nike and the FFF are jointly committed to supporting the work of the Fondation du Football in using football as a vehicle to promote the positive aspects of diversity in society.

The new France kit will be worn for the first time in the game against Brasil at Stade de France on 9th February. The new kit and the Nike Sportswear FFF product will be available at retail from 5th February.

france 11-12 nike home football shirt

Prior to that, Nike will reveal a new campaign around the kit and the partnership with the FFF, entitled *Vive Le Football Libre*, capturing the spirit of the new era of French Football. This will include a digital and print advertising campaign, as well as a dramatic TV spot.

The dramatic voiceover to the TV spot is the poem from the famous
*Duel* scene in the play Cyrano de Bergerac, narrated by French hip-hop artist Oxmo Puccino. The spot draws a parallel between the duel scene, in which Cyrano confronts a prince who dared threaten him, and French footballers at different levels competing against their opponents.

Through the verse, the audacity, creativity and freedom of French football is expressed. Those talents are expressing themselves in various places, Clairefontaine for the French team, but also the playgrounds of Belleville, Marseille and La Courneuve for the amateur players.

Thanks to Paul and Mike

In France, not much, but in the team, yes. We only have 3 white people in our A-Team.

We should be playing the ANC.

That kit really doesn't flatter the players, particularly M'Vila, who looks really tubby in this kit.

Usually you find that the shirt looks better when on the players, but in this case it doesn't.

It's because they don't even look happy to be wearing this piece of whatever. Nike is destroying the kits... like the new Brasil jersey. This one adds up to the 'hit with the ugly stick' pile.

A huge mistake?
You should take a look at the banknote Nike gave to the FFF to wear this kit! 8)
The overall view of the kit on the players is not that bad, at least with the white short and the red sox you know we're talking about France!
On the other side i'm fed up with the "diversity" cr@p and that motto printed behind the FFF badge which doesn't represent the country at all. This multicultural bullsh*t is really annoying...

That diversity "crap", as you say, is, first of all, not the actual vision of the design of the kit, but a reminder of the campaigns organised by the FFF to support the Fondation du Football.

P.S. Were you a member of the defunct Boulogne Boys, as seems to convey your fiery comment?

It may appear to be like Umbro's England shirt...but I mean, the jersey is also a retro version of France's older kits -- which is pretty much what England's shirt is. Just take a look at some of France's old kits from the 1900-1930. They look very similar to this new one. In fact, France played Brazil in the 100th Anniversary FIFA match wearing a very similar shirt to this new one. Big deal.

Well considering you have idiots like Le Pen and the like in France (who have criticized the team's racial make-up), I think the diversity message is quite relevant...since I DUNNO the 90% of the French team come from former French colonies.

They're not optional, they're just the inside when you roll up the sleeves.
And before you add anything, this kit is far more classy than anything adidas ever designed for France.

I find the huge gash of blue on the socks to be distracting... solid red socks would have been better.

Not a huge fan of the sleeve gimmick, but if you're going to do that then make it the only slash of color to distract in the kit.

Otherwise, I like it. Simple and classy.

In what world do you live???

If, for you, sport is still the place where you can express your national desillusions, well, let's just say you're dead wrong.

The situation that immigrants feed and diversify the quality of football is the same all over Europe.

Hello, this is Earth, we're in 2011.

All those who said this kit is not enchanting need a good optometrist.

First, the font, the Avant Garde. Simple, clear, classy.
Then, the white logo, inside a blue-on-blue shield. Same as before.
Then, the no-frills style, as long as the blue-red pairing (they are the heraldic colors of Paris, don't forget that).
Then the deep blue.

One of the finest kits EVAH.
Chapeau.

All in all i think that this kit is really simple, really classy. Think personally it looks better with the sleeve rolled up to show the red cuff. The badge bugs me a little though. the shape itself is nice, but i don't understand why the outline is an odd plastic material. would of looked nicer with just a bit of stitching instead. Also i like the collar, but does anybody else think in the bottom picture it looks like its made of leather?!

The collar has come directly from the 09/11 England kit. Very nice but the optional sleeve thing is a bit stupid, seems that Nike and the FFF were indecisive as to which sleeve colour to go with so they just decided on both.

Elegant like Celadon (1),
Agile like Scaramouche (2),
I'm warning you, dear Myrmidon (3),
That at the end of the envoy, I touch.

Tac! I parry the tip of which
you were hoping to make me gift,
I open the line, I block it...
Hold on tight to your spit, Laridon (4),
At the end of the envoy, I touch.

Envoy

I quarter, I skirmish,
I cut, I feint...
Hey! there, then!
At the end of the envoy, I touch.

That's a change kit. They are not going to wear it at home.

Also, since when did teams have to wear the colours of their national flags? Look at Italy, Germany, Australia and England for example.

The kit sucks..
The only thing that will make the French Fans buy this kit is that if the team wins games, if some fans lost the old kit or if they want it for collection sake but other than that.. I doubt no one would buy it for the design value.

The Tricolor Sleeve is arguably the best representation of the FFF and one of the most iconic Kit design for an international team. Even if nike adds an element of the French flag or any design into it, it will never catch on to the Tricolor french flag on the sleeve

Great Kit by Nike. I usually hate Nike kits but this isn't bad. Does France not have one White Player they could have used on the advert? Immigration in Europe is becoming ridiculous. I mean half of these guys probably don't even sing the anthem before the games!

haha Laurent Blanc criticised the kit saying it looked like italy's  and to those that are arguing over the sleeves its because theyre rolled up! my views are plain design from nike, adidas always had the initiative becuase of the 3 stripes which was embeded onto the colours of France, personally i think big mistake with nike, would have suited England but the French are classy and 'zis is not classy' 8)

Amazing kit.

To all the racists complaining about there not being white players at the presentation. Think about it. Gourcuff, who is actually Breton if I go by your racist logic, has a deal with Adidas. Nasri and Benzema, who are of Algerian heritage if I again go by you racist logic, also have deals with adidas. Do you know what a conflict of interest mean?

I don't get why people like or prefer adidas kits

apart from about 3 seasons in the 90s when they launched the new logo and had it plastered over the shoulders and then at the side of their kits very little has changed since the 70s with adidas kits (40 years now) all their kits have the 3 stripes down the sleeves and its become very hard for them to be very imaginitive when you always have to incorporate this into the design every time - france is a good example, they always had the 3 white stripes with the flag colours incorporated, all that changed would be the collar or ocassionally some swirly red and white trim on the chest

at least with nike they can be a bit more individual, not just an adidas top with their badge on it

I agree with those who say that France belongs in ADIDAS. The new NIKE shirt is clean but lacks profile. It looks more like a training shirt of glasgow rangers than a match kit. Adidas must have calculated that France without the world´s best player (Platini or Zidane) wont be able to win anything´or perhaps even qualify for :-| EC/WC- no publicity for ADIDAS- and let France go to NIKE. :-|

Adidas couldn't afford to match Nike's offer. Nike's offer was three times what Adidas was offering.

Adidas were able to pull that strategy with Germany and renew them on the cheap, but the FFF took the cash and told Adidas to **** off.

I don´t like it.

It is a mix of different tailored umbro designs (Ireland with the side stripes, world cup england kit wit the collar...) but as It was said before, It looks like that the jerseys don´t fit.

I understand that Umbro is owned by Nike, but This shouldn´t mean that Nike has to make the same kits than Umbro.

One of the reasons Nike bought Umbro was because the couldn´t supply England!

Doesn't anyone moderate this site any more?

I like the new kit. The last France adidas shirt looked like it was missing a parachute, and two shirts before that, it looked like the background to a powerpoint presentation. Adidas have messed around with the France kits for long enough, it was time for something simple and classy, and Nike have provided it. That's my opinion, I'm entitled to it, it doesn't make me a bad person, and it hurts nobody.

The thing is you can't recognize them as France in this Jersey. When I think French team, I think blue, white and red and the three stripes on the sleeves and this new Nike Jersey looks like a Polo shirt.

But...

Maybe, we're all to used to the Adidas kits. I used to hate the Japan 2010 one, but I grew to love it somehow. You just get used to seeing the jerseys they wear. It's not entirely awful.

I think it's a good example of how difficult it is to get 'simple' looking good. Up close it looks like a top quality shirt, but that doesn't excuse the fact that it's a very dull design.

The turn-up sleeves just suggest to me that they couldn't decide whether to go with the red trim or not, so left it as a gimmicky extra.

Overall it just doesn't have the appearance of a proper France strip.

Quite simply this is the greatest shirt ever designed for a nation. It is so fooking badass that I will be buying it. France can't possibly lose wearing this. I love the design touches. The blue and the royal blue collar. The red upturn signifies revolution dummies. This kit is both Aristocratic in look AND revolutionary....

Utter brilliance. So damn beautiful. I wish Nike would pay half as much attention to the US Men's kits which are true rubbish.
