germany euro-2012 adidas home football shirt

We showed you the leaked home and away shirts back in June, and now the DFB officially unveiled the new EURO 2012 home kit for the German national team, which will be available here.

Germany can qualify for EURO 2012 on Friday with a home victory in Gelsenkirchen against Austria, but it will be worn for the first time on 11 November.

"Having a new jersey is always something special," says Philipp Lahm, the captain.

"The new design is very elegant, and the fabric feels really good. Visually, we are already well prepared for the European Championships."

Thanks to Andre,Heinrich,Clayton,Bastian and Jian

It does seem odd that they've gone for an all monochrome badge .Should have just gone with the classic circle instead of making the tricolour all black.

Second - does the badge have those three segmented lines due to adidas? If so - shame on them!

Thirdly - why does the bottom colour piping look gold not yellow??!

Firstly - I´m not so sure

Second - When the three stars represent the three world cups, the the segmented lines represent the three euro cups!?!

Thirdly - The flag colour is black, red, gold

In answer to your Second point, the DFB (German FA) changed the badge back in 2004, adding an extra ring with the three bars representing the colours of the flag. In the 04, 06 and 08 versions these were coloured, and on the 10 badge the whole thing was gold; adidas have presumably made the whole thing black this time to reinforce the retro feel (the home kit is similar to the 86, the upcoming away the 72).

It`s black because it is only a EURO and not a World Cup - So the three stars this time only represent the three european titles of 1972, 1980 and 1996.

FIFA does not allow continental titles extra added to the logo (only if the become part of the logo) - So painting the stars and the logo black is actually a "trick" to hide that fact.

The three lines normally represent the German flag. You should realise this looking at the badge on older shirts.

I can only guess that the colour on the shirt has been made slightly more gold than the flag (which the armband is based on) to show up better on the white of the shirt- it's also interesting to note that the middle (red) line appears to be much more scarlet, probably for the same reason, so technically it is wrong. Maybe the shirt is more metallic in construction, which alters the colour sometimes. Dunno, will have to see it 'in the flesh'.

True, but you need to know that there is SPECIFICATIONS given by the german federal government on the German Flag...

I think it will be best to follow those specifications when designing something "flag-oriented"...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flag_of_Germany

Black: Jet Black, HTML HEXADECIMAL CODE #000000
Red: Traffic Red, HTML HEXADECIMAL CODE #FF0000
Gold: Cadmium Yellow, HTML HEXADECIMAL CODE #FFCC00

So the "gold" of the official flag color specifications is not "metallic gold", but "colored yellow"... As the wikipedia page states a 1968 quote of Arnold Rabbow: "he German colours are black-red-yellow but they are called black-red-gold"

I agree with the guy way above--the new militaristic badge on the current jerseys is far and away the coolest thing since sliced bread. The 2010 are the nicest of the Germany jerseys since 2006, and I doubt they'll top those anytime soon. I'll not be picking this one up.

It's very symmetrical but a little blah. Not a cup winning jersey. A polo design like the French Nike away shirt in German colours would look fantastic.

And the Euro 2004 jerseys actually changed the 3 stars from gold to silver, rightly representing all the Euro wins.

As a German:

This is terrible!

What's with the stripes on the shirt's front?
Also, I really don't like the collar.

The shorts look okay - except for those needless stripes on the numbers. The socks seem fine too.

But that jersey - ugggh! :-x

They should have left it without the stripes and with a better collar, and this would have been a very nice, classy Germany home jersey. A lot like Germany's traditional home jerseys from the 60s and 70s.

I'm definitely not gonna buy this one!

Hopefully, we'll be playing successful football that's nice to watch, anyway! :P

Glory hunting? I started supporting Germany at Euro 2000, when they were worse even than England. FYI- German players are paid less than English, but produce better football, and don't whinge about 'other factors' when they lose. It's not glory hunting as you put it, it's being realistic. I would rather support a team that takes pride in it's football, it's anthem and it's country, loses as a team, and wins as a team. The England team is full of prima donnas, over rated, overpaid, and tactically naive 'players'. Plus, supporting England to a fervour of nationalism encourages rascism, xenophobia, and intolerance. That answer your question/statement?

@ asque

Yes they resemble a bit to nike's typeface used between '04-'06.

One of the nicest looking German shirts for some time.

Are the shorts made from some shiny nylon/pvc material?

As stated before, the green away shirt is erection inducing beauty! ;-)

This jersey is absolutely excellent, the only thing I would change would be to slightly move the front numbers so they are somewhat centered and not so close to the top diagonal black line.

As the best players in the German team aren't actually German but Turkish, Polish or Brazilian some different colours would be welcome.

You don't think it renders the whole point of national football redundant?

Well, actually those players are all German, they were born here, grew up here, played for German clubs, youth national teams and so on. In our modern times nationality should rather be defined by identity than by parentage. Cacau even did a test every immigrant has to do, when he wants to become German, so he truly identifies with this country in my opinion.

One might even think you just envy those succesful Germans ;)

? It's now racist to say that international players should be from the country they play for?

Complete rubbish. The guy never said anything against a particular race that was discriminatory. Miroslav Klose - born in Poland, to Polish parents - plays for Germany. Ridiculous.

It's because just you were born somewhere doesn't automatically make you that countries identity. Granted with Cacau is ridiculous, but with klose, even though born in poland his father is an ethinic german, and brought up there, same with podolski, born in poland but grew up in germany from young. Ozil was born in germany so that twat who only sees that ozil is turkish is a tool.

OK,OK.
Klose, Podolski- born in Poland. Klose moved to Germany in his early teens, Podolski was still in nappies.
Cacau- moved to Germany when he was 19, and sings the anthem.
Gomez, Ozil, Khedira- born in GERMANY.
All of these players have a RIGHT to represent Germany. Quick question for you- do you know that England made overtures to Aaron Hunt and Lewis Holtby, both born in Germany with an English parent, before they were capped by Germany? Please check your facts before you condemn.

Oh they aren´t german?

But the 82 Mio Fans that celebrate the superb football and shiny future are.

These players are german, more german that all these irish/scottish players with grandparents from these countries are irish or scottish

The future is bright and the Germans have very very good chances to lift 1-2 trophies in the next 8 years. And there are even better players coming through the ranks..and they are even blonde(G?

quite nice, considering it's a Germany shirt! I like the little retro details, like the collar from the late '80's shirts, though I'm not a big fan of the way the badge has been done, a shirt like this should have a sewn badge in my opinion. But overall, it's a nice, understated shirt, well done Adidas!
