aberdeen 11/12 adidas away football shirt

Aberdeen first team officially unveiled the Dons much anticipated away kit in front of the many supporters who had gathered for the Biggest Ever Team Photo event.

The players emerged from the tunnel to give fans the first glimpse of the new white kit before they took their place in the stand for the unique photo.

The kit has a retro feel to it, echoing the style of a number of the Dons away kits worn in the early 80's.

The away strip will officially go on sale from 9am on Friday 29th July and will be available from the Pittodrie club store and online.

Thanks to Ryan

And yet, they're telling fans that it has "a retro feel to it, echoing the style of a number of the Dons away kits worn in the early 80's"

Well that's strange, because about a thousand other teams around the world are wearing the same kit - do these other teams know their kit is actually made with 80's Aberdeen kits in mind?

OR, is it really that they are trying to justify the £40 by implying that Adidas gave some consideration to the kit Aberdeen chose?

Ok, templates are a necessity for large manufacturers worn by thousands of teams, and Aberdeen are a relatively "small" club who have to choose their kits from a catalogue, we all have come to terms with this now.

But please don't try to insult fans' intelligence by trying to imply that Aberdeen are anything beyond a corporate client to Adidas!

To be fair though, the kits Aberdeen wore in the early 80s were themselves bog-standard adidas templates, so the claim is not entirely false.

Whatever, how many people on these sites turn round and reckon they work for kit makers or have 'inside information' they all talk bollocks, if you have worked for them for over 35 years then what age are you and why would someone of age about 50 upwards be bothered enough to comment here??

Regarding the 80's jerseys there are dozens that were the same as each other so dont bother saying people were wrong.

dont get your point Dutch. Im an old dinasor but Kits have always been a great part of the footie...........

The template arugement for me is simple - its either good or not. Adidas 70's & 80's kits are still the best for this old fool - for that reason i think this one from adidas is great. Bit like liverpool had late 80's. im sure aberdeen did too.

Anyway great effort this one and none of the silly neck design that affects WBA, stoke etc

I appreciate your point and it is valid, I am merely stating that this guy that reckons he works for adidas obviously has too much time on his hands and must be a bit mature to be belittling people on here. He says he works for them 35+ years so would be say 20 at start of employment....

Thats my point, re kits I have several, Man Utd, Hibs etc and all similar.

Yeah shame it's for a club with a support that doesn't attack ballboys, abuse stewards, isn't one half of the ass cheek sisters from Glasgow that fans from every city in this country travek to, to support their "local" team 50-100 miles away, batter their girlfriends when we "diddy" teams beat you or you loose to your siblings on the east end, watch the games from your boozer and buying the shirt from you local JJB in Dundee because it gives you some sense of self worth and couldn't even tell where abouts the OF grounds are in Glasgow, knuckle draggers are what are just adding this countrys decline in football, I'm not the biggest fan of Aberdeen but if this kit is some form of Superstition to bringing success to the Dons and maybe just maybe getting them on a successful Europa run then; BRILLIANT KIT!

If it weren't for Rangers (and Septic of course)...there would be no SCOTTISH FOOTBALL ya wank!!!!

50,000 fans every week, win or lose!!! The only teams to make any money in the country!!! Also the only teams keeping the coefficient high enough to allow other Scottish teams a shot in Europe!!

not to mention 2 of the BIGGEST, and MOST SUPPORTED CLUBS in the entire WORLD!!!

so, stop talking yer pish!!!

The sheep barely escaped relegation last year! THEY are the shite that's bringing down Scottish Football!!

I was referring to the local glory hunters, United are a better run club I've no problems about that I know we are in the fizzy pop league not going to stop me watching my team to be honest I'm glad we all rallied and raised £500,000 plus over 2 admins it's the wrong people in charge

Fair play mate. I know a lot of Dee's and have (grudging ;) respect for the way you pulled it together last year. One day when the O/F scumballs leave we'll have a decent, competitive league.

My point stands, you only have to look at our neighbours, Forest fans from Nottingham, Leeds fans from Leeds, Newcastle fans from Newcastle etc etc, bus loads of people claiming links to Celtic/ Rangers, 60 plus miles away is poor, Scottish teams shouldn't just be having "a shot" in Europe, with a two horsed league slowly poaching players and fans from clubs, our leagues are dire.

Class effort. An old template it may be, but it looks quality.

Scottish football site The Wee Man is halfway through getting professional evaluation of the new season shirts in Scotland (except St Mirren and St Johnstone, whose efforts are too boring): http://theweeman.posterous.com/tag/mrsweemansstripreview

I dont buy the catalogue issue at all, rugby teams can order bespoke designs using sublimated material whatever style they like - if adidas force teams like Aberdeen to choose from a template range then thats just terrible customer service. total bol ock s I`m afraid.

I've never understood the "template" ranting on this site. The kits last a year, end of. Who cares if the trim is the same as another team, across the world, in adidas?

I just think that's an ok kit. I expected it to be white with black trim, so this is a nice surprise. I'm happy with that.

Not really, You seen Man United's home kit on any other team? And don't say Dundee United cause they're two years behind.

You get some teams that get they're own style from the manufacturer. You seen Celtics horrible third kit anywhere else? No you haven't. Lyon's home kit isn't anywhere else either.
