Arsenal 2011/12 Nike Home Kit

Here is the new Arsenal home shirt for the 2011/2012 English Premier League season manufactured by Nike.

We originally reported back in December that this would be the new Arsenal shirt and now it has been officially revealed that this is the new shirt.

The main difference between this and the previous shirt is the redesigned crest to celebrate the 125th anniversary year. As explained below the badge represents the foundation of the club and is shown in a plain white style on the shirt only as the short doesn't show off the crest design, but does feature a monochromatic styled logo.

The back of the socks also show off the date 1886 which is a reference to the when the club was founded all those years ago.

We now need to wait and see if the away shirt leaked last month comes to fruition to, although a jacket in the same colour has already come out in the same colours,

Thanks to Bezza97 and Crochef

What's the red part on the white sleeves? You can just make out some red stripes?

Good question - maybe it's the "tape" type of stripe used on WC2010 shirts?

According to the offical release literature; "The red arrow on the sleeve represents the sundial from Dial Square, the original name of the team started at the Royal Artilery factory in Woolwich."

a bit disappointing of nike for not putting on more effort to think through for our 125 years anniversary.

I don't dig this. The shirt itself is basically a bland version of this years, and the crest looks odd. However, I do like the red socks. More traditional.

First of all: yes, it's a descent shirt. But I do have a bit of a problem with Nike's "retro-culture". There's nothing wrong with this shirt because there's nothing to screw up. The typical Arsenal red-with-white-sleeves-shirt ansd that's it. Nothing special. What's the big diffenrence in comparison to the shirt of last season? No white collar or red endings at the sleeves anymore and the logo has been altered. Not that much of a "new" shirt.

But it is a nice shirt of course. I'd just like to see some more variation of Nikedesign throughout the next years.

I totally agree. The 10/11 season kit is truly fantastic. You look at it and it is 'an Arsenal kit'. Would loved to have had the contrasting collar and cuffs, but who's going to shell out £45-£50 for a new crest?
Sadly, we're in the same boat as many clubs, i.e. Newcastle (with their stripes) and Celtic (with the hoops). There isn't much you can do to the shirt before it starts to look awkward. We can't go down the Man Utd route and add oddly coloured chevrons before it becomes daft.
Looking forward to the Away kit release. I pray to god it's yellow/blue, but judging by the brochure for the home kit I have a feeling it will be two shades of blue, similar to the first Nike away kit.

This is excellent, even better that this season's kit which is very good. It's a shame about the red line on the sleeve, I think that's an unneccesary detail that the sleeve would look better without but it's a tiny flaw, this is really very good, it's exactly what an Arsenal kit should look like, no it's not new or original but a good kit doesn't have to be, it should look good and respect the club's traditions, this does both.

I have been thouroughly unimpressed with Nike this year. The badge is OK, maybe a reproduction of the old heraldic Arsenal crest with the motto would have been better?

It's just the same as this year's kit except the contrasting collar and cuffs are gone, as well as the addition of a sleeve trim.

I don't think many parents will be impressed.

Smart kit again but pointless. last years should have lasted at least 4 years imo maybe a change to red socks. Do you honestly feel that anyone wants to pay that little extra for being 125 years old. In 2013 they will bring out a 100 year Highbury shirt, well "they" wish. People are simply going to shun this crap and turn to Toffs instead.

Only the disposable, fast-food, self-entitled, video game generation, would find this boring. It's called tradition.
