chelsea 11-12 adidas home kit

Chelsea Football Club and adidas today unveiled the new home shirt for the 2011/12 football season, which will be available here

The shirt takes inspiration from Chelsea's heritage with design features originating from past kits used in the early 80s and reflects this with the shadow striped design on the front panel.

A white colour block has also been added to the sleeves and shorts, resulting in adidas' iconic three stripes appearing in blue for the first time on a Chelsea strip and creating a distinctive and striking design.

The new kit will be worn for the first time at the final home game of the season when Chelsea play Newcastle on 14 May.

The shirt will be available on 12 May but can be pre-ordered online.

The playing shirt features the adidas techfit™ technology which will help improve speed, increased endurance capabilities and enhanced awareness. This works by stabilising and focusing the muscles' energy to generate explosive acceleration and deliver maximum power output.

Fans will be able to buy the replica shirt which incorporates adidas ClimaCool™ technology, a mixture of heat and moisture controlling materials, ventilation channels and 3D fabrics which improve air flow to the skin in the key heat zones.

The new Chelsea home kit will be available here.

Thanks to Cleas

I disagree. People on this blog throw around "looks like a training kit!" all the time, but the white on the shoulders definitely makes this head in the training direction.
The hoops are nice though.

a little too much room for the patches to be a critic.-looks better with the patches
looks great on Lampard!

The kit represents the team perfectly... Horrible

The ones with Torres on the back will soon be in the sale at JJB and Sports Direct.

Same old problem between adidas and chelsea. They cant make a nice kit. Im a LFC fan and ive never thought the chelsea kits are nice at all. Maybe torres can score more than one goal in this horrible kit. YNWA

I enjoy looking at new and discussing new kits, but I've got a quick question: remember years ago when people and the media kicked up a massive stink about how often football teams changed their kits?

Is it just pretty much accepted now that teams change their kits every year? Seems ridiculous!

Nothing against Chelsea or any other team in particular, but surely there's no real justification for bringing out a new home kit every year?

Does anyone actually buy a new home shirt each year?!!
What on earth do people do with the old ones?!

ps this is quite nice I think, better than the current one

A few years ago there was a voluntary code of practice that teams would agree to retain a jersey for 2 seasons. The problem is, that code was only ever intended for English clubs, and since they have to compete financially with other top European sides, it was never likely to last very long. For a code of practice to work it would have to be UEFA-wide and couldn't be voluntary, two things that I suspect would be very difficult to enforce under EU law.

it's all about marketing and of course we live in fast times...many people get borred nowdays of everything..so it's a constant demand for new stuff, new things...
does anyone buy a new home shirt?yes...I for example am an juventus fan and I buy every year the new kit because i like to wear what my favorite players wear (I know it;s a little bit childish) and also i get borred of the old one(exeption when I like a model verry verry much...in my case the one with v-necks)
what do people do with the old one?simple...I for example sell the old one...

hope this answers your dilemma

It's all about money. And when clubs will sell new shirts every year, they will release new shirts every year. I agree with you but I think new shirts every season are now the norm. If people stopped buying them as much as they do, it might change.

Not a huge team anymore but Sheffierd Wednesday have kept their home shirt for 2 years now.

Think the Chelsea shirt is nice enough. Have no real complaints with it

The clubs would not do this if it wasnt profitable. If the demand is high enough, new shirts will be released.

You don't have to buy a new shirt every year. It's capitalism of course, but it's also a matter of choice, and I think this is important. Just because we support a team doesn't mean that every shirt they have is beautiful and some of the old shirts, despite being classic, are kinda ugly. So, if you want to buy a shirt (you don't have to, but if you want) and you think that the shirt your team is using in this season is ugly, wait for the next season and hope they get a better one. In this case, I think is good to change kits every season. If you're like most of people, be more selective and just buy the shirt you really want.

In my case, I think it's good that my team (Newcastle) change kits every year. Especially, when the kit maker is PUMA, cause I hated Toon's 10/11 season kits. And I hope Adidas to come back............

i have most of the Chelsea shirts since the 80s. I didn't buy last years yellow away, and won't buy this, as it's ugly and has too much white. The first home shirt I've boycotted since the Le Coq Sportif days,

Please ditch Adidas and go back to Umbro

I'm a United fan, so obviously won't be buying this, but it looks good. Maybe slightly too much white on it, but you'll probably grow to love it. I do think it's an improvement on this season's effort, which in itself was an improvement on the desperately plain and boring adidas Chelsea kits of before.
I remember when all United fans hated the chevron on the home shirt last season, but were sorry to see it go at the end.
Some kits take time.

Looks like a nice 80''s retro feel, and as much as people dislike it, when they see it in action it'll be different.

I rememebr alot of hate for this season's kit with the random red bit, but it's grown on a lot of people, including me, the more you see it in action.

This is actually a really nice kit, imo, one of the best we've had in recent seasons. Just need to edit the colar a bit.

Adidas always over-design Chelsea's kit.
They should have finished the design and then decided to remove one, two or three details.
The white on the shoulders should have gone, for sure.
It's like the red collar this season. Why?
For shame, Adidas.
It looks like a hybrid of Wigan & Reading.

I don't get it either. I'll only get a new one if it looks good and the current one is starting to show it's age (the material, that is).

Or if you're a West Ham or Celtic where it's going to be the same design more or less (home kits that is), there's really no point getting a new one for the sake of it being new.

Very nice. The with shoulders seems shocking at firts view, but it works, giving a distinctive look to the shirt. The hoops are great too.

Looks like Adidas is going to use and abuse of this resource on theirs kits in next season.

Oh god, as a liverpool fan I fear what's in store for us.....

Adidas has looked bereft of ideas, with only a few design (germany WC comes to mind) that I have strayed from the current aesthetic.

But I've kept my mouth shit and decided that it's just a matter of taste and that trends change.....

But this just shows that Adidas has decided to stick with this aesthetic....the same one it has had for what seems like the last 4 years.....

They need to strip it all back and realise that the classic 3 stripes is "obnoxious" enough, with out havign to ad more to the design......thay have this feel of adding way more "panels" to their design than is necessary.....

Hate to sound unoriginal, but I think Adidas needs to do an Umbro and go back to basics.......

Common adidas,
why chelsea paying you $$$ for such desings?

Do you need a designer?
Even when you try to make a retro design its poor design!!

No creativitey no classic desgins!! What are you doing adidas!!

How come its "all blues", and shirt is combination of white and blue?

Then you make another ugly-shiny colours for away and third kit and its never been used by chelea team.

Learn from Nike, for each big team thier is a.unique design not a templates

I'm chelsea fan and i will buy it. But please do better job

You do realise that they DON'T pay for the designs ! Haha! Why would they pay!!! The kit make pay for all the shirts to be designed and manufactured - the team just take a cut!

And actually the pic doesnt do it justice - looks much nicer in the video on the Chelsea website & the long sleeve version is also alright - at first I didn't like it - but it's a grower!

Wasn't keen on it to begin with but I'm liking it more and more. Seeing alot of those shoulder panels from Adidas (I think they were on Venzuela's or Colombia's new kit) and they looked pretty good on that. Been looking on online Chelsea shop and the long sleve shirt has panels on the lower sleve as well. If anything the hoops are not needed but I can live with that :)

As a Chelsea fan, I actually like this one!

Since adidas began supplying Chelsea's kit, I have not really liked the home shirts, but have been a fan of a few of the away kits.

Definite retro look about it and a massive improvement on last season's terrible cycling shirt.

The blue turnovers on the socks are a nice touch.

I dunno what to make of it. It's not bad but not as good as the excellent 06/08 and 09/10 ones. But it's much better than this years, and the cheap looking 08/09 strip.

Can't see how this resembles the Chelsea kits of old, the only one that bears any resemblance is the LCS 80s kit posted above but that's just the shadow pattern.

Its OK, that's all.

With respect to the kits coming out every year, someone else said it earlier: only buy the ones you like. I will probably get this one (new in 2011) but didn't get 2010 as I wasn't keen. Similarly, I got 2009, but NOT 2008 and also 2007.
So, this actualyl works out as every 2 years anyway. So it doesn't cost me more than it would have done had it been every 2 years anyway!

It only costs the fanatics, who are happy to pay the money, or the parents of child fans, who should really have more control and be prepared to say no!

I agree and, although I like this shirt, I feel it could have been better and there is a lack of overall class in a lot of their designs. The recent Umbro "made in England" ones that are very plain and simple have worked well in this regards, although some of them look a bit too simple. Someone just needs to find some middle ground.
