dundee united 11-12 nike home football shirt

Dundee United today revealed the new home kit for the 2011/2012 season. This kit is the third in a four year kit supply deal with Just Sports Group (Ltd.) in conjunction with Nike.

The design, modelled by young stars Ryan Dow and Dale Hilson, features the unmistakable traditional tangerine with a black chevron that encases the Nike swoosh and Dundee United club crest. The chevron design is itself a return to the historical design utilised by Dundee United in its formative years.

The new design, which is sure to be a winner with Dundee United fans, underscores the continued sponsorship by Calor Gas and takes into account supporter suggestions of the Calor logo changing to the more prominent black colour.

Launched at midday today, the shirts are available from £33 for kids, £35 for youths and £40 for adult sizes.

Thanks to Calum, Paul and Leigh

Manchester United's home, away, goalkeeper etc from three years ago? That's low Nike, real low.

Mexico's Home and away from five years ago, with the cool Aztec watermark and a different collar? Well, the V is narrower, but this looks like a boring piece of teamwear.

It´s censoreding werid how Nike is taking a normal teamsport template which sells for 10 GBP, putting just a badge and a sponsor on it and then selling it for 40 GBP. Poor Nike, such a shame!

The kits aren't supplied direct from Nike. Dundee United get their kits from Just Sports. It just so happens they use Nike Teamwear templates. Nike have nothing to do with this shirt really.

Everyone is commenting on how it is a copy of nike. When Dundee wore Green and White and later on White and Black they had the V, at least a decade before Man Utd first used it.

I think compared to some of the crap out there this will do. But they still need to fix the sponsor, just make the lettering black and have no box around it...the training wear on the official website is good too.

Why do people get wound up about all these brands giving teams a standard design they've had for years? We know it happens stop trying to be clever and pointing it out. Man Utd weren't the first team to ever have a sodding V on their shirt so being clever and going 'it's a Man Utd' template is pointless. Just comment on what's infront of you. As it happen these colours with the V look ok. Chill out.

well i know they have to choose something from nike teamsport, and nike maybe obligated them with a good offer to choose this,, so its not that they don't know what man utd wore ,,, but there was a more decent one and orange as well , i know they wanted it but because it was the color used (Schneider) in the cover of the nike catalog, thats why they chose this older one

It's the best design we've had in years.

Do people really expect the designers at Nike HQ to say

"Hey Guys drop everything, forget about designing the new United, barça, inter, brazil & France kits etc, weve gotta design a new Dundee Utd kit!"

and then expect them to work for hours giving them a unique tailored kit when they will only sell about 100 anyway?

Read the article, it says they use a 3rd party, of course they're gonna get teamwear which is always gonna be a season or 2 behind the big clubs

I don't think it's Nike that dictate the price of the shirt: it's the club that take a teamwear shirt and iron-on a club badge and sponsor logo then charge £45+ for it.

I like the template, but the addition of a sponsor clutters the shirt up just like it did Man Utd

everyone, dundee utd got this kit from Just Sports, not nike. you think Nike devotes its resources to every single club it sponsors? my sunday league club uses nike kits but i dont see no nike rep talking to my coach about designs, we got it from a sports catalouge!!! and plus im pretty sure the club regulates the prices of the shirts not nike. and even if they did not all of the profits goes to nike, it will mostly go to the club. you guys think you know everything. ooooo nike is soooo evil..........

i dont hear anyone complain about adidas templates. adidas prints out a t-shirt with its iconic 3 lines and oh wow its the greatest shirt ever designed!!!!

Its a template, yes. But last time I checked Only the big clubs and the top International teams get unique designs. And even then thats not all the time, like when nike seemed to have one template that EVERY nike team used in 01/02.

Its a decent kit, and besides unique kits dont always mean good kits. Chelsea away?

I wish folks would forget about the man utd comparison as Dundee united originally had this design when they formed as Dundee Hibernians. The only major difference is that the shirt colour is now tangerine. If still not convinced, stick Dundee united into wikipedia and check yourselves! It's a nice kit indeed, nice to see they went for the classic united option of the v instead of the others on offer.

It's a 2 to 3 year old design, because Dundee United choose to have it that way!
It's a Team Sports deal, where the club select it from the same catalogue as teams outside the premiership and Sunday league pub teams.
Personally I think it looks pretty good, but you're kidding yourself if you think it was designed especially for Dundee United.

Class United Kit.

There's not many kits which haven't been done already so not sure what all the Gok Wans on this page are talking about.

I seem to remember Dundee United's early 80's kit being worn by Man Utd a season later.

I am just pleased that the calor logo has been sorted and that there's a bit more Black in the kit this season. The only change I would make would be to have the white stripe on the shorts tangerine.

I like very much Dundee's club colors, but for God's sake Nike. Is it difficult to come with something new? Why not a all orange jersey with a big black stripe on the shoulders and sleeves. Not hard to do, and at least it would be at the same time classic and different.

This kit is a brand new design just brought out in April this year - check out the collar it's completely different to the Man Utd kit from 2 seasons ago - so where you's get it's an old template idea from, gtf.
If I was an Arab, I'd be happy with this kit, there is after all only so many available to them from Nike's range, and it is a quality wearing kit too. My only gripe would be that I could get the same shirt minus badge and sponsor for a 3rd of the price.

By the way, the minute you add a sponsor or a badge onto a kit, it becomes unique! Getting tired of reading the jizzstains that moan about teams having the same kit as each other, every kit in it's own tweak is unique.

As a Doncaster Fan, we also have the teamwear agreement with JustSport wearing a template kit. We do not have any agreement with Nike. Its a 3rd party buying in kits, adding badges and sponsor logos and reselling them. I just love how our Club made out that we had signed a deal with Nike and promoted that fact. However if you don't like the template kits, just wait until Justsport start marketing and selling you its cheap Avec branded lesure wear. Would suprise me if they haven't already. Now that is cheap tat! I do like the kit above though. Not so sure about the sponsor logo on the shorts though!

Nike really has given up in the area of football...sad. I guess now that they own Umbro they are just going with that brand. The Nike kits are cheap-looking, unimaginative and about 80% of them have that Charlie Brown-esque "V" across the chest.

Nike is not providing uniforms to the NBA...are a distant third and perhaps fourth in football, are out of NHL hockey due to Reebok...guess they don't care about professional team sports or advertising anymore.

But Nike didn't sign Dundee Utd, a third party sports shop-type company did, and put them in Nike teamwear. Not Nike's fault or decision.
It is a great kit have you seen it in person? It does the job.

By the way, Nike are supplying the NFL from 2012, so I think they do "care" about professional team sports and advertising.

Could everybody on here please stop blethering shite.

Below is the statement issued by the club in 2009. It clearly states Dundee United sign deal with Nike not as some censoredwits keep incorrectly repeating a 3rd party teamwear supplier bollocks. Also our colours are censoreding TANGERINE!!! not bloody orange. The least Nike could do is order up some tangerine material for us the lazy censoreds!

Dundee United announced that Nike will be the official kit supplier to the Club for the next four years, commencing 1 June 2009.

The four year deal also includes selling Nike merchandise through the Club Shop which will now be operated by Nike UK's professional football club service provider Just Sport Pro Club.

Dundee United Chairman Stephen Thompson said, "We are delighted to secure this four year deal with such a world famous and quality brand as Nike.

This exciting new partnership will see Nike supply all of our playing and training kit and a complete range of Nike products in the Club Shop, Dundee United Direct. The Nike brand is instantly recognisable world-wide and represents quality, in respect of both the product and the teams associated with it.

We are therefore highly delighted to team up with such a prestigious brand, particularly going into our centenary season."

Also whilst I'm on ma soapbox, I ordered a retro replica strip on Ebay. It came from Thailand and it cost £10 plus £10 carriage.
The top is very well made with stitched adidas stripes on the sleeves and stitched adidas logo it also has the old stylised d.u.f.c. lettering and 1979 league cup champions stitched on it.
I don't like buying outwith the club as they obviously receive no money for this but it's the only way to buy a really good looking, well made top. I would happily have paid United £40 for this.
The clubs are as much to blame here as Nike etc.

Any opinions or just more boring shite about Man. Utd. template yawnitty censoredin yawn.
