Flamengo Home and Away shirts

These are the new Flamengo kits produced by Olympikus for the 2011 Brazilian Série A season.

Flamengo are reportedly the most popular team in Brazil with the estimated amount of fans being around the 35 million mark. As well as that they also one of the most successful clubs in Brazilian football winning almost every major competition trophy available to them in their 99 year history as a football team.

The Rio clubs new kit are made by Brazilian manufacturer Olympikus who, although not present in Europe, have a few high profile teams in South America to their name which includes Racing Club, Lanús and Argentinos Juniors

The new Flamengo kits pay respect to their 1981 Intercontinental Cup title win over Liverpool F.C. which officially made them world champions in club football in the days before the FIFA Club World Cup. The home shirt is in Flamengo's traditional red and black hoops, uninterrupted at the sides but with quite a modern styling at the top of the shirt. A nod to the 1981 cup victory can be seen on the left side of the chest with a watermarked logo commemorating the victory with the words 'Campeão do Mundo' meaning World Champions and the place and date, Tokyo, December 13th 1981. On the opposite side is Flamengo's alternate logo which is a stylised C.R.F. and a star over the top also denoting the victorious '81 season.

The away kit accompanying the home follows the same design style except with the majority of the shirt transformed to white, a variation on the sleeves and collar colour have also been applied. Again the 1981 motif can be found on the left of the chest only now with a more prominent red-black-gold colour scheme.

At this time the club are yet to announce a main sponsor for the front of the shirt but a Banco BMG sponsor can be found on the sleeves.

The shorts rip of the Adidas short template. It's a fact.

Never heard of Olympikus, but if they keep making quality stuff like this, they're going somewhere. I'm not crazy about the big Olympikus logo on the front of the socks (should go on the back), but otherwise these are really sharp kits.

Olympikus (also knowed as OLK) is a brazilian brand and in Brazil they have a contract that forces them to make only Flamengo's shirts. But they sponsors some teams in Argentina, like Racing and Lanus. Its a brand in expansion. They also sponsors the Brazilian team of Voleyball and a lot of other oyimpic sports. They pretends to be one of the biggest brand in this area on the following years...

the 4 in the last picture are GK shirts.
the training uniform is not been showing here, but you can take a look in then here:

I think they it is amazing.

and the white kit is a homage to the 1981 victory against Liverpool in Tokyo, considered a "world championship", what brings that star over the symbol of the team.

but of course you do not need to know ...

the shirts were made in three languages, Spanish - tokio, Inglês - tokyo and brazilian tóquio

C. R. Flamengo wold's champion! recognized worldwide!

ps: take care to leave your home, risk of being hit by stray bullet train from Vasco, the last time he was seen was in São Januário taking another chocolate in Rio!

Well, I'm quite well surprised by these kits. At first I was like "Haha Olympikus", but they look really nice. The designs of all the shirts are great and - well, at least as far as you can judge on pictures - the quality seems to be quite good. Nice job Olympikus!

oh, I forgot something. Tokyo in portuguese is indeed TÓQUIO. OLK already reported the mistake and said that they're going to correct it.

"Tokio" is spelled in spanigh, I guess.

it's supposed to be in portuguese, but in Pt, Tokyo is written: Toquio.

Now they're going to release this version as spanish version, then english version, then in japanese and in portuguese.

but the non-portuguese versions, change only tokyo written form. It's still world champion december 13th 81 in portuguese.

As with many other brazilian kits, the sponsors will ruin it. For starters, the main sponsor will be orange.

Also, it's either Tokyo or Toquio. Tokio is wrong. Such a mistake in a big team t-shirt like this is really cringe worthy!
