Check out the Hearts shirt, it's the same as this except it doesn't have the collar (and is obviously maroon)! This seems to be Umbro's favourite template at the moment.

K, after nearly two agonizing weeks involving constant web refreshing, rumour digging, addiction-like nail-biting pathetic self-destuction symptoms, finally, the advent of 11/12 home kits! And oh my, what a release, these kits once again, delivered to the fullest extent.

I think we should stick with Victor Chandler for a longer period of time, because seems to me, ever since the club decided to tie the business relationship with the gamble house, our shirts' quality instantly jumped up to multiple levels. In my opinion, the overall design of 10/11 home kits were A+++, while away kits were A+; this year, I was extremely unsettled by the end of the season especially after another futile demoralizing playoff debacle. However, unlike the past few years, this time I must endure the compounded stress also known those lovely shirts will be replaced by some potentially hediously designed new kits.

Sounds exaggerated? I believe so as well. However, after just browsed the NFFC online store page that finally unveiled the kits images, I must say I am absolutely delighted, to a degree like a masochistic sicko, that I can once again slash open my not-so-abundant wallet and shell out some cash on those kits.

I give this year's home kits, both short sleeves and long sleeves A++. To my standard, I still consider last year's home kits are better due to the fact I simply can not get enough about the pure red template being used on last season's shirts, they are clean, concise with those sharp stripes, creating such a strong visual reflection for the wearer, the 10/11 Forest home kits are classic.

So this year, Umbro adding a collar on the shirt, which is fine with me; I do want to see less white being added to the shirt, but to my consolation, Umbro didn't add that much white, and putting majority white schemes on collars and on the cuffs in long sleeves versions are right on the spot, I am glad to see that there are no excessive amount of secondary colors appeared on other part of the shirt to affect the overall effects, well done!

Also, I must rewind the subject back to our club sponsor, Victor Chandler a bit, A big shout-out to VC for continually showing sense of understanding that modify its logo color in order to match our shirt theme, no Hearts FC, Blackpool Wonga tragedies or Aston Villa, Fulham Fx-Pro, trade FX like a pro fiascos which is a big reason we should continually offer our chests out for that brand.

I don't know what our away kits would be like, but at this point, I don't want to worry as much as I have been doing so for the past two weeks, I already order six shirts *(three S/S, one with badge; three L/S, one with badge), I need to recover from my financial damages. I hope our kits can continually maintain the quality, while our squad can keep getting improved, thanks Umbro and VC, 11/12 season will be a tough one, but we will weather through it, our future, just like our shirts, is as brightly reddish as they always are!

As much as I love this year's home shirts, I have to agree with Tommy said, 10/11 home kits are still the best, A+++.

These very shirts still possess majority of the positive traits for quality football shirts, just not as striking as the 10/11 edition.

Hope the away kits won't be a dud.

I wasn't keen on that shirt at all, I remember when the club introduced that shirt I was thinking yet another mediocre shirt with overcomplex pattern being released, then came to the 10/11 shirt...

It's like the designer finally figured the entire thing out, simplicity is a virtue, as I always insist, we don't need trendy fashion statement from a football shirt, we need a sense of belonging from the team that understand the fact a piece of well-made garment is the fundemental boundage between its existance and its fanbase.

I sincerely hope forest can continually maintain the quality of merchandise, after all, it's not easy in nowadays greedy world to stay faithful and being genuine.

Don't forget Nigel Doughty still has strong links with Umbro even after the sale to Nike. Umbro have consistently produced quality gear for the boys (with the odd exception ) ever since Clough senior demanded the Garibaldi's change from Adidas after being so impressed with the quality of Clough juniors England shirt in the mid 80's.

I wish I could get excited by the prospect of my team wearing a bland red polo shirt with a Forest badge hastily sewn on it...but come on, this is beyond lazy. Designers rarely make any effort now, probably because too many fans only want dull, utilitarian efforts. I just to enjoy kit reveals, but in 2011 there seems little point in bothering. The best thing I can say about it is that it's a vague improvement on last season's nightmare effort, with its nasty shiny stripes.

it reminds me of the Forest shirts of the early 1990s, notably the 1990/91 season where they went to the FA Cup Final.

It's basically the same design as the England world cup failure shirt of 2010. Umbro have really been scratching their heads on this one!

For how long have Forest been with Umbro?

Is it longer than Arsenal's deal with Nike?

Thank you for your answer(s)

Its longer than Arsenal's deal with Nike. Forest have been with Umbro since the late 80s (adidas before that) and Arsenal have been with Nike since 1994 I think.

Forest have been with umbro since 1986 (25 years).

I think Forest signed with Umbro in 1987, and haven't changed since. I wish we would, because the relationship's become stale. Anything would be better now, Puma for example. I think I hate Umbro since they became a division of Nike.

Since 1986 - HOME ALES sponsored kit, chequerboard shadow design as modelled by Johnny Metgod when he decapitated Phil Parkes' hands.

Quoting wanghawaii:

So this year, Umbro adding a collar on the shirt, which is fine with me; I do want to see less white being added to the shirt, but to my consolation,Umbro didn't add that much white, and putting majority white schemes on collars and on the cuffs in long sleeves versions are right on the spot, I am glad to see that there are no excessive amount of secondary colors appeared on other part of the shirt to affect the overall effects, well done!

Go Redzzzzzz,

You seem more interested in your teams kit and it's sponsor than you are in your team. Get a life

Ha sorry me duck, just read your post after posting mine below. The continuous supply arrangement with Umbro goes back to 1986/87 season - so this year is 25 years.

Umbro were brought in by Brian Clough after Nigel brought home his England shirt and he was so impressed with the quality compared to the Adidas kit that Forest were wearing at the time.

LOVE the socks! wish arsenal had socks like this. every forest kit is nice for me because when arsenal first established themselves in 1886 forest gave them a kit but so arsenal were unique they cut the sleeves off and sewed white sleeves onto the shirt. this is why arsenal always have white sleeves thanks to forest.

Quality kit for a quality team.
Well done (again) Umbro. 25 continuous years of kit supply to the trickies - hope Forest were savvy enough to negotiate a special loyalty bonus from Umbro.

Is there a longer continuous kit supply deal in professional football?

Lovely kit not as nice as last season though. At least it's not like the generic team wear kits that adidas give Derby every season, shit shirt for shit derby. Anyway great shirt again Umbro!

That is really poor, but it will suit all the Chavs in Broxtowe, Aspley and Bestwood that support this team. On the plus side it won't show the dirt cause none of them own a washing machine.

Oh dear, wondered how long it would take a Magpie to make a predictable post.
Why don't you lot get the message? We like teams from Nottingham (it's in our name you see) and we want local matches (sorry can't bring myself to write d**bys) between us again, but you consistently fail to come up to our standards. Now how about you go back to your nursing home, put the kettle on and reminisce about Tommy Lawton. Bless.
