Hamburger SV 2011 12 Adidas Home Kit

This is the new Hamburger SV kit for the 2011/2012 German Bundesliga season manufactured by Adidas.

Last week we showed you this leaked picture of what appeared to be the new kit now we can report that this was indeed the new shirt.

The kit takes on a slightly maritime theme with Hamburg being a port city, with the blue said to represent the "Blauer Peter" (Blue Peter) flag which is raised whenever a ship departs the port. Also inside the collar is the motto "ALLE MANN AUF KURS!" (All men on course!) also aluding to this theme.

The Rothosen will take on Borussia Mönchengladbach this Saturday where the kit will be premiered. The shirt is available to buy from today from the official shop and on the 16th of MAy from other retailers.

I'm not a big adidas fan but I do like this shirt. And I disagree about the blue detracting from the shirt. I think the contrast with the red makes what would otherwise basic/simple design a little more interesting.

Also, love those socks.

Reminds me of a day trip I once went on to Bridlington-on-sea. It rained alot but we had pickled herring sandwiches, watery lemon pop and a raw onion for afters. Mother did a turn while Father played his Banjo. Uncle Ernie drove us there in his Zepher. It was the first time I ever saw the sea. I remember Father saying "Dieter, this is the first time you have ever seen such a body of water....its called the sea". November 1949. I remember it like it was yesterday.

I accept Adidas for inter only if they let it be a striped shirt (thin stripes, thick stripes, light blue, dark blue, snakeskin-style gradation, I accept all), not half striped-half plain-with white here and there.

Was it too difficult, for one year, for Adidas to create an AC Milan shirt without stripes only on belly and back (ok, this year also on sleeves, it's a miracle), without plain red under the armpit?

This is a very nice kit. About as visually distinct as Adidas kits get. The socks are fantastic, but the team flag on the red shorts strikes me as the most visually appealing feature. Just a little detail that makes the kit stand out all the more.

I do like the mis-mash of colours Hamburg shirts have, the white shirts, red shorts, blue and black socks. Personally I would prefer the adidas stripes to either stop at the top of the shoulders (like the current Liverpool shirt) or go all the way down, but that's just me!

Us germans love to please you litte dutchy khunts. There´s nothing else to "crack you up" we know. No big success in football or anywhere else. just a wee little nation of klingon-speaking cloggers.

It is alright with us.

But the correct result would be more like:

Holland 2 (this shirt + Euro 88 semifinal)
Germany 4( WC Final 74, Euro 80 victory , WC 1/4final +1940 )

Daag mate
